LOL, this very true!!! I am a big St. Croix fan myself, having 8 of their rods at last count but far be it from me to stop someone from loving on Okuma!
-
Wow , that's something else! Good luck with your infestation!
-
Sorry, I don't know. I've never used hi visibility line, perhaps someone who uses it can assist you. I assume so , as everyone I've ever fished with that used hi vis was always running them , and occasionally having to change them when water depth changed drastically .
-
Keep it simple, 8-10lb trilene xl mainline has always worked well for me, connected to a barrel swivel and an 18-20 inch piece of fluoro leader in 6lb test. I typically use seaguar, but really anything will do. The blackbird stuff is cheap and works well. I stay away from super lines and hi vis stuff. The simplest of rig is as effective as any of the newer high vis super line shot line rigs, but has an added bonus of being infinitely adjustable on the spot, with no need to cut off shot lines and change for varying depths. As for length of lead from float it really depends on depth and flow rate of the water. If it's ripping, you may need to run significantly more lead than water depth to be in the zone. Time and experience will teach you all you need to know. I regularly adjust until I hit bottom, then work backwards from that. Don't buy into all the marketing and don't sweat the small stuff. I've caught plenty of fish with my float cocked towards downstream... LOL Good luck!

My plan is to release some pickerel into a bath of hot oil! The usual will be to start with suspending jerk baits, and if that doesn't work I'll switch to the ball head and twister tipped with a minnow. If all that fails, splitshot and minnow gets em every time. I target shallows near spawning locations after dinner, and fish into the dark. Sleep in the next morning, then fry fish!!
-
I don't specifically target muskies much anymore, but when I did, my most prolific baits where a large black spinnerbait and a large black and yellow spinnerbait. I also took many on larger buzzbaits. I never trolled a great deal for Muskie, so I'm not much help there!

St. croix eyecon 7'6" extra fast. You'll love it!! I do! About $105-120 depending where you shop!

Now that's a boat!!

The caravan is pretty much the only good product that dodge has brought to market. I think you will be fine!

Sounds to me like your going to have to abandon your plan to store at home. With a garage only 18 foot deep, that's 2 feet shorter than the garage on your standard new build. There is no way I would store outside in the leslieville area of Toronto. I used to work in T.O, and there are too many thieves, vandals and opportunists! An option for you could be the Scarborough sailing club at bluffers park. It's a mix of small sailboat owners and salmon fishermen. You store your boat outside in a gated compound on the trailer. They have full lounge facilities, a beer fridge, barbecues and put on a couple of small salmon derbies every summer. Not sure of total costs per year, but I don't believe it's over the top expensive, and you can launch on lake O all summer. Again, you'd have to lock all your gear up, but it's probably a better bet than outside in the leslieville area. As for the fish and ski? I would ask myself what am I, a fisherman, or a recreational boater first and foremost. The answer will dictate the purchase! Good luck!

Angels diner on Wellington St at Gordon, or Vienna restaurant on MacDonnell street in the downtown. If I had to choose one or the other, it would be the Vienna. Also close to the game. I probably wouldn't go with Stampede myself, but your mileage may vary!

Honestly I was offended that the HAnk and Italo show was mired in poaching convictions at the time, but I watched them for years at the time, and enjoyed it then, other than all the look at the colors Bull etc. I'm over the whole poacher deal though I think. I agree he has "expertitus" when talking to people, and I can't say I watch a whole lot of fishing shows anymore (barely have time for regular shows) but I have watched a few YouTube clips, and it's not as bad as some shows on these days. The best one by far though is that kid with the uncut angling show on YouTube!

It's quite apparent you hate anything to do with law enforcement. Which is fine, there are always a certain percentage of guys like you. Just don't bother trying to hide it behind some concern for the publics ability to access regulations and a dislike of "revenue generation". They don't hand out copies of the highway traffic act anywhere other than online, but you are expected to know it if you are licensed to drive!

I have used a PC very sparingly for almost 3 years, other than a work computer Now that I can print from my phone or iPad, I haven't turned on the PC for almost a year. Why should I, when I have a computer in my pocket that can get my email, web browse, act as a gps, a phone, store all my contacts, do all my banking, remind me of coming events, store topo maps, and also run navionics when I'm fishing on the ice or in my kayak (GPS in my boat already). And it takes great pictures! All in the size of a kit kat bar. Perhaps they aren't for everyone, but the benefits far outstrips the negatives, of which there are very few!

Nice work!

Virgin mobile, hands down! They are owned by bell, on the bell network, but service is superior. I owned my iphone 5 outright, so when I switched over from Rogers, I got a promo with unlimited Canada wide calling, unlimited text/picture messaging, 2 gigs of data call display and voicemail and it costs me $54 per month because I owned my phone. It would've been $60 a month if they gave me the phone. I was a Rogers cellular customer for 20 years, and honestly they tried to screw me every month. Virgin hasn't tried to screw me once. I am very happy and all of our cell phones are now with virgin! I would go iphone all the way again, I had a galaxy and frankly it sucked in comparison. I would buy out from bell in a second. I bought out my wife's phone when I wanted to switch it over! Best of luck, and sorry to hear about your phone!

Well, If I said hey lets put a giant dome over Toronto, and other big Cities ( in the hopes that the residents all suffocate eventually) that are out of touch with the country folk, believe the meat they eat is manufactured, and that people who live in Northern Ontario should put up with bears crapping on their front porches. If I said that, people from the GTA would get upset, just as they'd get upset when people use the term "Citiot" no matter how apropriate it may be at the time. Cause I guarantee that the majority of the people behind these animal rights groups, and the bulk of their donation money comes from Cities. So, in order to avoid that ordeal, guys like me just blame the hippys. Wether they deserve it or not. Sorry if you where offended!

Stupid hippys.

This is true to a degree, but CT also has some of the most ridiculously cheap clearance prices also! I recently bought a pile of rapala max raps at CT for $7 each, and they retail for $16.99 at Lebaron. I also bought a bunch of deep tail dancers, trolls to 10 and 20's and clackin raps from $4 to $7 a piece, as well as nanofil 10 and 12lb test at $14 a spool. Those are some pretty sweet deals! My buddy got a humminbird 587 for $250 on clearance as well. So while mostly they are expensive, they are cheap like borscht when they want to get rid of product! I shop mainly at my local (well, closest anyway) tackle shop, but I don't mind scoring deals when they come up, and Canadian Tire has been good to me!
-
Sweet deal, thanks for info!

GRCA has instituted a season pass valid for up to 6 people. I don't believe it is vehicle specific anymore. I will find out shortly when I go to buy my pass and launch pass!

We have a large hunt camp that is completely self contained. We are almost all solar powered for lighting now. We do have a generator, but it's not often used these days. I could move my family into it if I wanted too. My wife would just have to overcome a few minor obstacles, but she is pretty adaptable! That's said, I'm not sure I'd want to do it LOL!

You need to take your boat out into calmer waters as suggested in order to properly shake it down. My first step would be to run in flat water and see where I'm at. I wouldn't monkey with anything until I had done this. I'm not sure if it's your first boat or your 5th boat, but a lumpy day on Lake Ontario is not where I'd choose to break in my new rig. Good luck,

Becoming a father changes a man. Go make up for lost time! I wish your father well!

Likely changed to reflect similar regulations at other dams. There is an active fishway now, so theoretically no need for an extended sanctuary. Don't worry, the trout will eventually figure it out!
