I'll be interested in all the responses, my F150 needs new skins also!

Report the theft, even if you don't make an insurance claim!

Garbage? Whoever told you that knows nothing about TV's, particularly if it was the same guy that talked you into buying an LG. I can't speak for the Samsung plasmas, but the Panasonics are incredible. And they are a quality maker. There is a reason they where used as monitors in a lot of news rooms for so long!

You got problems then man! That is unusual to say the least!

Must be living in cities. Here the kids wear their costumes to school, the teachers hand out Halloween candies and have class Halloween parties, and everyone has a pumpkin out!

Happy 7th birthday!

The launch at the park right in town is great. Can't help with accommodations, we visit a friends cottage there once per year.

How bout we let the posters worry about their locations and legalities! Only one time have I ever let someone know that they may have been outside the lanes here. Turns out I was right, and he was blissfully ignorant, thanked me for it, and it was no big deal. Because I did it all by PM. Just a thought folks!

If you intend to hunt in a zone with controlled hunter numbers then no you cannot hunt with a shotgun in that zone, you can hunt with a bow only, and some WMU's do not allow bow hunting if there is a controlled hunt taking place. If you intend to hunt in a WMU with a general deer season, then yes you can hunt antlered deer with a shotgun during the open season. If you are found hunting with a shotgun in a controlled hunt and don't possess a small yellow tag with the WMU, your name, and whatever the ministry is allowing for harvest, typically antlered or antlerless, then you will likely be charged. The regulations are pretty clear when you read them, but if you had intended to participate in a controlled hunt with a shotgun you would have had to apply by the end of August!

Shift work is where its at! 4 on 4 off, 24/7/365. Every 4 days is a mini vacation. Sure I work weekends, holidays, nights, you name it, and the shifts are long. But I get a ton of time off, and life is good. I don't shop saturday/sunday, I do everything that needs to be done during the week. If your spouse is monday to friday, and not understanding then it can be a bear. If you have kids, and your wife, and by extension the kids don't understand that daddy worked all night friday, and needs to sleep saturday, then its a bugger of a time. The strength of your relationship, and wether your partner sees the benifits of the shift work will make or break the whole deal. Fortunately for me, my wife has never known anything but shift work in all the time we've been together. I've seen new guys that have had a hell of a time with a monday to friday partner. Some years you will work xmas and new years, some years you hit the lottery and have both off (if your work is 365, otherwise this doesn't apply of course). I'm on a lottery year!! Good luck!

If you would like a custom that doesn't break the bank, has a lifetime replacement warranty, and an excellent action, consider a mudhole MHX blank. Excellent blank, cheap like borscht and one of the few times that the words good and cheap can truly be used in the same sentence! Yes in reality you'd need to have a broken section retied, but truthfully I have seen very few rods break that weren't factory defects, or angler abuse!
-
You won't find me in sanctuaries to start with. However a dude with no rod or net, picking up a carcass in a sanctuary, or anywhere else for that matter, is a non issue for me. North shore lake O rivers receive an abundance of nutrients from carcasses, and the fish won't spawn anyway..... So who cares! However, I rob carcasses whenever practical on open waters. As long as the eggs are decent, it's a free source of decent chum that doesn't affect fisheries. If a guy wants to wander around and pick up dead fish with no means to snag or net them on his person, I'm okay with that, even if it's in a sanctuary!
-
Who cares. If I see a freshly dead hen, I will strip it for eggs, provided they haven't gone off. Makes good chum! Dead is dead, and that means the fish isn't going to spawn successfully, so if someone wants to make some use of it, then why not!

There is doubtless lots if confusion, and plenty of folks are terrified at the prospect of it being easily transmitable by air. Let's put things in perspective. This thing has been going since last December at the earliest undiagnosed, and since march with diagnosis and initial response and treatment. I am not an epidemiologist or a virologist, but I am pretty sure if it where "easily transmitable" that all of Africa would be a disaster zone right now, along with a good portion of the rest of the world. Let's all be thankful that so far it seems to be a virus that is harder to pass on, and let's hope it stays that way!

If the 8 and the 9.9 are the same weight, take the 9.9 every time. If you want a light engine, and don't mind used, look for a Nissan 9.8 2 stroke. They weigh in the neighbourhood of 60lbs.
-
Any reason for a 12? A light 14 will give you more space, and is just as easy to muscle off a trailer at a very shallow launch, or beach launch etc. I could see it if you wanted to toss it in a pickup, but if your going to trailer anyway, the 14 makes more sense, and won't be a lot more scratch. Starcraft makes an excellent boat, I love mine! I had an early 80's merc 9.8. It quit for good in 2007. 25 plus years isn't bad, but not great either. The engine was never abused, and well maintained. I'm a Yamaha owner now. I won't say anything LOL!

Original motor would've been over 3K. It's only 13 years old, so if in good shape should make a good solid motor for someone. I sold a 1993 Johnson 15hp with electric start for $900 in mid winter. I'd watch kijiji for a while, that should give you a feel for it!

Time will tell, the only thing inevitable in life is death and taxes. And in the end you can't cheat either! One thing is for sure, something is going to kill me eventually. Hopefully it's old age!
-
It's a concern to be sure, and should be taken seriously. Keep in mind though, that the countries where it has gained such a foothold, most people don't even have running water or soap to wash their hands. Never mind advanced medical facilities and an ability to properly keep track of people. Add in superstition, and belief in what amounts to witch doctors and a general mistrust of often corrupt government and we see the situation that is tragically unfolding. In it's current form, I don't believe ebola will go very far in North America, and I hope I'm not wrong! For the affected nations, I certainly hope that a vaccine is successful very soon!

Back Trolling vs. Electric Trolling motor (bow mount)
porkpie replied to Beavertail's topic in General Discussion
I troll with bowmount. I use a copilot from stern where my finder is mounted, but before that just used my foot pedal on the seat beside me. Much less backsplash in a chop, and almost as much control. -
Yes absolutely. I fog everything before it gets put away. Takes me a couple of minutes per item, and it's extra piece of mind. Can't hurt!

$47 is pretty much standard for a 5 or 11lb tank. Expensive, yes, but its been that way for years.

Anyone using a small AGM battery for a trolling motor?
porkpie replied to porkpie's topic in General Discussion
Thanks fellas, Canliq, I have a nucanoe as well. -
I am looking for a lightweight battery for my kayak, it has a transom designed for a motor. I have used the G27's from my boat before, but they are a bit heavy. I saw a 31AH AGM battery at Walmart that lists it's uses as electric scooters, trolling motors etc, and it's the size of a garden tractor battery. There will be some fishing use on the yak, but I mainly want it for getting back and forth to my hunting spots. Runs are half hour or less, I hate paddling at 5 in the morning! The transom mount motor I have is a 50lb thrust. I have seldom used it higher than setting 3 in the kayak. Does anyone have any real world experience with the small AGM's in kayaks, canoes or pontoons etc, and can you recommend a particular battery and provide some estimated run times? Thanks!
