  1. They list for $15 at canadian tire which is the one of the few places that sell tackle near me. Husky jerks are 10-11$ When I hit lebarons the odd time, I go hog wild on $7 husky jerks!
  2. No scatter rap, but I did find a bunch of clackin raps in a clearance bin at canadian tire last winter (wonder if it was a mistake?). I got em for $6 each, and absolutely pounded pike, smallmouth and even quite a few pickerel on them. Quality bait , but I think full price is close to $14. To rich for my blood! Hopefully l'll be able to make the half doz I bought last. I'm even using them through the ice. I see they came out with a clacking rap stick bait now. Maybe I'll get lucky and find some of them in a clearance bin$
  3. Yes primer was mandatory for the cite. Nice deal on the seat, toolbox looks like a rough ride!
  4. I love suspending jerkbaits, but if it costs much more than an $8 husky jerk I think I'll pass.
  5. Those old safaris are great sleds. I used to have an old citation 250, it worked well for ice fishing. Not much guts, but would get you there and back and easy to lift if your stuck. Recover your seat with black duct tape. I did one like that on the citation, it wasn't pretty but did the job.
  6. Jig and grub, mepps black fury and a Cordell big O in my teenage years.
  7. Every man needs a fishin boat, duck boat, and a kayak for small pond fishing and shallow marsh hunting. At least that's what I've been telling my wife. She just rolls her eyes and walks away.
  8. You got it, it will be awaiting approval from the iron bank of bravos though (wife). I'll PM you before the ice melts if i can convince her! Still 12 volt. I just bought the boat it's sitting on, so I'm not really sure how well this is going to go lol.
  9. As long as the motor checks out, i'd say it's a good upgrade to a 1994 force. Price doesn't seem too out there, I'm sure they'd negotiate a bit.
  10. Pete, I might be selling a 55lb thrust motorguide with universal sonar and wireless pedal and key fob in the spring, depending on if the wife will let me get a PD V2 ipilot. You want me to let you know if I do?
  11. Near Arthur Ontario. Big Cliff is much closer to you.
  12. You've got a handy guy that is not that far away offering to help you out already, Take him up on the kind offer. I'd help you as I just built one myself, but you live to far away.
  13. Get a fan for sure if its your only mode of transport. I have a polaris 500cc 2 up LT liquid, but I also have an ATV so i have no need to run on glare ice. I'd really be looking for a lighter sled for ice fishing. The big sleds are great, but heavy as hell when they bury in a slush bed or otherwise get stuck. Only reason I have the sled that I do is that I bought it off my father-in-law for a really good deal. If you wait a little longer you can get some really sweet deals in march. Won't help you for this year, but good savings can be had!
  14. I am torn to be honest. I have heard of these things happening, but recently have had several excellent experiences with our health care system. I think sometimes it is luck of the draw. I hope things work out for your wife and you!
  15. Great pictures. I hunted the Cheepas about 16-17 years ago. We were invited to stay in those cabins at the train bridge on our way in and out, very hospitable folks. They even lent us a freighter canoe to use for a week complete with outboard if you can believe that. And by lent, I mean just that, they wouldn't take anything for it. They thought our canoes where to small! Shot a pile of grouse there as well. There was a boat that dumped on the river while we where there . Thankfully they where rescued by another group who saw the contents of their rig floating down river . Beautiful scenery, and a good trip!
  16. I guess moose populations could be failing across the province. They certainly aren't where I hunt moose. We trip over the darn things and as long as we can get a tag, success seems almost guaranteed. The later season is going to cause problems with wives. Perhaps they could push the deer hunt back a week also.
  17. It's Toronto, that's all that can be said. Most big cities are like this. People are so far removed from nature it's sad really. Think that's bad, try mentioning you hunt. Where I live, people don't bat an eyelash when they see me working on my duckboat, or loading shotguns into my truck. Heck I cleans ducks and geese in plain sight in my driveway. I have lived in places that wouldn't go over very well. I couldn't live in a place like Toronto, although I did work there for years. I don't know how you do it!
  18. It's now snowmobile country. I could've made it with my quad the other day out of Beaverton, but the sled was definitely more efficient. Walking would truly suck if you had to pull anything. It'd be okay with snowshoes and a backpack!
  19. Husky jerk hj11 in brown back/orange belly or yellow jig head with chartreuse twister tail. Can't decide witch.
  20. I'd go with a Garmin touch screen. They are easy to use, and you can get excellent maps for free, there is a freeware called IBYCUS, and those maps are all you need. It's nice to be able to see different points on the map around the lake when your in a whiteout. I have a garmin Dakota 20 and it's excellent, but I mainly use it for hunting and as a backup to the GPS on my sonar. The screen is a bit small for dedicated use on the handlebars in my mind. I'd definately look at the Oregon series if you can swing it. That would be pretty much perfect
  21. I have been using a life proof for iphone for the last 2 years. They replaced if twice under warranty. The seals failed, only because the audio was so bad on the originals that I had to take the case off all the time unless I was out fishing. This causes premature wear. The second replacement they sent me had all the bigs worked out. You can here well, and the case hasn't been off in over a year. They finally got it right. I would now buy again if I changed phones.
  22. Thanks fellas. I have word in at Hales, and will call around. Thank god we had a manual in the truck. Burned near a tank of fuel in the sled looking. Good thing I have a sense of humour, and the herring are biting. Didn't have the heart to head out to laker grounds again.
  23. Lost out of Beaverton this morning. Likely between the perch grounds and the first crack. Please PM if found. It was an eskimo stingray.
  24. I like the mix of this forum. I can't stand going to some forums where there are 50 different sub forums. As for the fishing reports, I don't think there are many that do it anymore. I lost that urge many years ago. Too many freeloaders out there on the Internet. I just like to read about different things that touch on fishing, and if a target thread pops up, I can choose to read it or not. Fishing forums are just enjoyable places to pass the time for me, I don't get wrapped up in them, it's not real life. There isn't much here that phases me. The only thing I don't love is the advertisement reports, but even then you get to know the players and can choose to skip their posts, so no big deal! I sometimes find I get the most interesting info out of non fishing threads.
  25. Curado, if not then Citica. Good solid reels. If you can find a slightly used Core , then snap it up. The last used Core I bought cost me $215 shipped and cores are some of the nicest reels I've ever fished, even nicer when I put some boca bearings in, which I eventually do with all my casting reels. Can't go wrong with a curado or a citica though!
