  1. for this piece of rope standing beside him ... and when the bartender says sorry buddy "we dont serve ropes in here" ... "you wouldnt be a piece of rope would you " ... he braided his hair and said .... "nope" ... "A Frayed Knot "
  2. I agree with Cliff ... nothing like watching your minnow wiggle just before a hit ....
  3. Wow Spiel ... another splendid example of your talents and attention to detail... I'd be very interested to get on the waiting list for a custom rod and a dozen or two of those (I am thinking of something around 9' that could be used to cast or troll 8 - 20lb ... actually I wonder if you have considered making the 10" musky version of that pig ! .... no jokes ... I'm getting goose bumps thinking about watching some 50"+ going nuts on it right under the boat ... I know ... its a single use application ... but then so is a 18" brookie slamming on the smaller version ... anyhow Great work and thanks for sharing. Jon.
  4. I am in the market for a good used boat (17 - 21', 2 to 5 years old) ... based on all the banter I have read here and based on the goodwill shown by Crestliner ... if any dissatisfied Crestliner owners affected by this recall wants to PM me I'd be happy to consider their offer to sell ...
  5. 12" of Black ice on Rosseau near Ferndale Rd. ... The guy beside me went 20 for 30 (or so it seemed) ... we went 1 for 3 ... our minners were bigger
  6. Yes, it is in Glen Orchard ... does anyone know the whole story .. I hope John and his Mrs are ok .. they are great folks.
  7. Wow .. John's been there for years (well if you include his time at Port Carling).. will have to stop in this weekend and meet the new guy hope everything worked out for them (they are great folks for sure !)...
  8. Innisfil beach road .. walk east ... till you hit 90 ft of water .. fish a foot or two off bottom with a minnow .... send pictures ...
  9. Ahh those sad lonely times between soft-water and hard-water ....
  10. Nice Work Wayne, I am looking forward to my first outing of the year next week on Rosseau ... hopefully see a few lakers then ... and then its backwoods for Specks ... cant say where .. cant say when
  11. I love my JVC Evario - huge hard drive and easy backup onto PC (to make DVD's) ... only issue is that you can record WAY more than will fit on a DVD .... anyhow small reliable and many hours ... buy spare batteries though
  12. Way ta go TJQ ! Jeze .. I guess I really am getting old .. seems like just yesterday to me we were celebrating the survival after Y2K .. and the dawning of the dot-com bubble where EVERYONE was going to get rich
  13. Yes I concur, Etobicoke water is fabulous .. and consistent ... at least to the smell/taste ... very little if any residue in the kettle or in the pipes makes me feel comfortable ... as for the actual chemistry I havent ever bothered to check ... having said that, I do keep a stainless bottle full (from the tap) in my car for those thirsty moments, and will use bottled water in suspect locations (like down south ... or at the camp .. no need for the beaver fever But honestly I am more suspicious about the taste of plastic and what nasty toxins that indicates than I am of our town treated water. My wife used to do the Brita thing .. I preferred tap water. My girls do the bottled but then there's no talking to them when it comes to their eating habits
  14. So far no issues .. I did buy a spare and always keep 2 charged for my trip .. then charge them each night before hitting the ice again
  15. Im coming up on the 16th ... and I'll cast from the ice near Port sandfield into the open water if I have to ... and I WILL ice at least one laker .... pic's to follow
  16. OK .. just to keep it on topic I will remind all of you that the Coho are STILL on the prowl .. it aint over yet ... even though the numbers are down from years gone by .. they are there for the chasing... but remember its illegal (and just not proper) to fish for Trout on Christmas day !!!! But really my motive is to wish all our good OFC'ers (and even the naughty ones) a happy , Merry, safe and peaceful Christmas and all the very best for 2010 !!! And a special hat's off to all the Mods (and the big-boss-man) for keeping this place a community I am proud to be a part of !
  17. Great news Dan, a very Merry Christmas to you and and your dad and the whole family !
  18. Rosseau / Joe Lakers Simcoe Whities / Lakers Bushwacking back woods Speck lakes ... Haliburton area... Eastern Tribs ZEC trips (3 or 4) Waubaushene Musky/Pike/Pickeral
  19. Well if you see a black eastman cube (4man) .. either near Ferndale Rd or by Appian Way ..and some guy sitting on a red cooler outside in the cold ... come say hi .. its probably me .... I only use the hut to keep the minnows warm
  20. I am thinking all this crusty weather might have put a little skin on her ... specially down by Ferndale ????
  21. One of my biggest Lakers to date came because a thought I saw a flash as I was bringing up to check my bait .. l dropded it back down about 10 feet .. then wham !!!!! ... the line literally was ripping through my fingers (I always handline) ... it was awesome .. I iced a 9.5 lb laker that hit less than 15 feet below the hole on the free drop (in 60 ft of water)... so yes ... the important thing is to fish the whole water column .. I prefer minnows .. but anything white or silver that imitates a wounded minnow will entice a strike from an angry laker ....
  22. Happy Belated boss ... hope it was great fer ya
