  1. How goes the build? It's been awhile since any updates and I think this was one of the best threads on the board. Even more entertaining the the Donald Trump posts!
  2. if all you haver to worry about is people replying to your posts after you have had the opportunity to fish all day, consider yourself a lucky man!!!
  3. I have moored my boat there many times camping on a G. Bay site. No issues at all.
  4. This site may be useful: http://www.small-cabin.com/forum/
  5. Who ever invented the saying "Sleeping like a baby", should get a kick in teeth! I remember the same thing when my youngest was that age. It may not seem like it will end, but it will. I would keep trying the bottle and that way both of you can share the responsibility a bit. If you can swing it, hire a housekeeper once in awhile, to help your wife with the stress levels. I remember your feeling. The worse for me was the occasional feelings of resentment towards my baby, followed by extreme feelings of guilt for feeling that way. Man, parenthood is a crazy ride. That being said, I could never picture anything else!
  6. Well said. Cat lover or not, thank about the family. Especially if there is a child that would miss it.
  7. I was at my old faithful spot today and didn't even get a flush. Funny how it works. I was there last week, bagged 3 and flushed out 10.
  8. Saw this today while at a stop light. Any ideas what this configuration would be for?
  9. We had a cottage on Dow bay for years and I spent all of my childhood summers growing up there. You can fish from shore right at the point and there are smallies and the occasional largemouth to be found in the rocks. If you take a drive into midland, and find the Martyr's shrine the river (I think it's the wye) is a good place for rockies, and bass and the occasional pike. You won't miss where to park. Little lake used to be a good place for the kids as well, but I am not sure if you can fish in there anymore. Good luck!
  10. I would suggest the Weatherby SA-08 semi auto. Youtube it, you will not find a bad review. The Remington express is becoming poorer as time goes on. It's prone to jamming. If you can buy an older express, you would likely be okay, but I would still recommend an SA-08
  11. 5 years of strong my boat and never used antifreeze. My thoughts are if you have 15+ feet of live well hose and maybe a 6inch low spot in there somewhere holding water, let it freeze and the water would just expand up the line a bit. It not like these are copper pipes - no big deal.
  12. I wonder if there are down riggers on the back of it?
  13. And they will come looking. We had the same scenario. The best advise my lawyer gave me when closing the house was to tuck money away. He was right!
  14. I stumbled across one of these years back road tripping in the US and bought it. http://www.racorstoragesolutions.com/p/detail/phl-1r My only regret is I did not buy 2.
  15. I just bought a standard toggle switch like # 49 from Sayal: http://www.sayal.com/zinc/zinc_search.asp?txtSEARCH=28SWITCHSAA&title=SWITCH+TOGGLE+THREADED I also installed the rubber waterproof cover for it: http://www.sayal.com/zinc/zinc_search.asp?txtSEARCH=28SWITCHSAY&title=SWITCH+TOGGLE+ACCESSORIES From there I just pulled out the throttle from my console and located the 3 wires that control the tilt. You can't miss them, they have their own harness. One wire is a ground, the other 2 are up and down. Unplug the harness, and if the tilt does not work, those are the right wires. I then spliced into them and ran the added spliced wires to the bow, installed the switch and that was it.
  16. I finally got around to installing a tilt switch at my bow to lift my engine. Makes life much easier when you forget to do it before you load. Easy to do as well! Where did you order the diagnostic software/connector from? Do they have a web page?
  17. Golden Bell Thai. William Row/Yonge Street Small and Intimate. Reasonably priced as well.

  19. Welcome to Barrie as well! I have had the pleasure of living here for the last 15 years and the mixture of affordable housing, being on the door of cottage country, and Lake Simcoe were all reasons that brought me here then. I too commute south (Newmarket) but that being said, I always commute via highway 11 and even during the weekends, do not find it too bad (we'll sometimes through Bradford). The budget you have set for a boat is very generous and I do not think you will have any issues finding something. I have a 16' Starcraft with a full windshield and a 50hp 4 stroke on the back. It has been a great boat, but sometimes a little small for Simcoe. I find Simcoe can pick up really fast, and when she gets a northwest wind....look out! Any of the boats you mentioned are good boats. Personally, I would avoid a Legend. I hav never owned one, but the 3 people I know that did, never did like them. I would recommend a 18' with at least a 90hp on the back. If you plan on doing a lot of trolling, a 4 stroke is nice and quiet as well. That being said, my buddy owns an etec, and it's not too far behind. You mentioned a tiller, any reason why? Being a resident of Barrie, you will be able to lunch from 2 different areas for free. Both are downtown. The weekends are crazy at the launches (especially Tiffin) so being an early bird will be to your advantage. Moving in at the end of April is a great time for perch. Head downtown and you'll see where fish for them. Trust me, you won't miss it! Enjoy the move, feel free to drop me a PM if you have any questions...
  20. I learned to rig with Scottys and I guess because of that they are my favourite. I few years ago, hen I got my first boat, I got a great deal on used Big Jons. I had them for one season and sold them and bought Scottys. I just found the Scottys easier to use, and I love the fact that they manual drop. You just seem to have more control on the descent. On another down-rigging note, when it comes to releases, I use http://www.downriggerrelease.com (Chamberlain Releases). IMO they are the best.
  21. You can all check it out for yourself. It's now for rent. I guess when he split with the wife, the extra income was needed.. https://www.facebook.com/thereallesstroud/posts/340152146037866
  22. All I can offer is a stay away tip. I recently won a set of Cobra CXT235's Nice and small, great range. However, and adjust you make (volume channel, etc) results in the unit emmiting a loud (and I mean loud) beep. Kinda noticeable when you are trying to be stealth in the bush!
  23. As a hunter, I fall into the category of no displaying my harvest on the way home. I look at it in this way: These days the general perception of guns and hunting are frowned upon. To have a hunter (legally) display his/her harvest on the drive home only deepens peoples misunderstanding, and possibly increase the anger or fear of the sport. This could ultimately make things harder for all of us in the long run. Like many things I will teach my children about, I personally want them to learn about hunting the way I choose to tell them, not by a dead moose staring at them with it's tongue sticking out at any given intersection. I want to give the same respect to others the same way. Just my humble opinion
  24. I have been using Castrol Synthetic 10w30 in my 2004 50hp Merc 4 stroke for years now. Never an issue. It always go on sale at CTC.
