That bothers me that the Flames got their shot early... ...now the Leafs, they need all the help they can get! Seriously though, the whole roll-out of this vaccine, in most jurisdictions, has been a very disturbing joke. Just goes to show, if a really serious outbreak of some kind were to come along...we would be screwed!

From my experience...the symptoms of this particular strain grow progressively worse as one ages.

I hope all is well with your family. I'm dreading the day as well. My 12 1/2 year old sheppard mix is really starting to decline quickly. A little bit stumbly and off-balance sometimes. I don't know how the winter is going to be for him. Here's a pic in healthier times:

Your buddy is a goof.

Is this fairly new? It used to be 9 points for an interview and 15 for an automatic suspension. When I was young and foolish and only had my license for a year or two, I managed to ring up 10 demerit points in a short period of time. I received an invite to see the JP to explain why I should not have my license suspended. From the time I received the letter til the the date of my appointment, I managed another 3 point ticket (total of 13 now). At my interview with the JP, he asked if I had anymore tickets. I was honest with him and I think that was the only thing that saved my license at the time. 15 points was an automatic suspension. I'm older and drive much more responsibly now.

"statistics show that violence with long guns has been reduced significantly since the registry was brought in" ...what the heck is he talking about?

Besides that...it's tiring...

I don't know about Georgian Bay in particular, but we never seem to get any crappie around here in the Kawarthas in the fall. Lots around come April/May though.

I've got serious mixed feelings on this one. I've never had a flu shot to my recollection...and never had what I would think was a case of the flu either. I get the odd cold and maybe a short bout of "stomach flu" occasionally. What concerns me about H1N1, although it doesn't seem to kill in huge numbers, it's who it kills. It seems the young and healthy are most at risk, with the most severe symptoms. Fatality numbers from seasonal flu outbreaks are usually heavily padded with the deaths of many elderly and otherwise compromised individuals. The flu being the straw that broke their back, so to speak. When we see a strain that kills an otherwise apparently healthy young hockey player within a couple days of not feeling well, that's scary. Anyways, I'm still torn on the subject.

My Dad was never a fisherman, but had a passion for camping, cottaging and canoeing. We spent many summers camping around Ontario, rented a cottage on the Bonnechere for several years, and weeks at a time at my uncle's cottage on Pigeon. The fishing just came naturally. My friends and I spent a lot of time down at the Credit river as well, (this was before Erindale park was really developed) catching chub, small bass and the odd trout. Everywhere we went I just always wanted a fishing rod in my hand. In my mid-twenties, I had the opportunity to move to the Peterborough area, bought my modest house on the lake when they were still affordable and hope to be here til the day I die.

...yeah, that's why they missed the elbow to Gustavson's head on the 1st Ducks goal...

...nothin wrong with sayin it like it is... ...saves a lotta heartache later on... Some ladies might find it refreshing.

The new regs for 2010 haven't been released yet, but there is a chance we might see a winter season for panfish in the Kawarthas in the new year.

Looking at both tires again (Territory vs SilentArmor)...they're not as similar looking as I thought .
-
I have to agree with Ernie on the Silent Armour. He put a set on my truck last year and they are as quiet as any highway tire, quieter than any tire I've had my Malibu for that matter. Last winter, I barely had to use my 4 wheel drive, the traction was that good. The Wrangler tire originally asked about looks very similar treadwise, I wouldn't be surprised if it's quieter than you think.

It's on at 11:30 this morning as well. I just set the PVR.

I don't drive my truck to work and have that indicated on my insurance, also limited to less than 10,000 km per year. In the 6 1/2 years I haven't driven it for work, I've only put about 30,000 km on it. I don't know how much of a difference it makes on my rate, I still pay almost $1100 a year on a 2001 Dakota, probably almost double what I spend on fuel. According to my broker I have 1st class status, maximum discounts as a driver. It doesn't mean I don't drive a lot. I have a company provided vehicle now and drive about 5000 km a month. I also have limited personal use of the car and pay for this as a taxable benefit.

You gotta understand...it's traffic that pays for the board. Keeping the forum closed to members only I'm sure would put a serious crunch on those numbers.

Seems pretty extreme if you can't mention the name of some of our largest/most popular fishing lakes. I mean, can't mention Lake Ontario for Pete's sake. Never mind the larger Kawartha lakes, Simcoe, etc. I understand the need to keep "secret spots" confidential, but if I want to post a report about some fish I catch on my home lake, which is a rather large and popular lake. I can't see that the hoards would show up the next day...and if they do...have at her, it's a big lake! Seems to me it would make the board pretty bland...

Like Dutch said, it's a privately run tourney (I believe by the marina itself) but very well attended.

The Emerald Isle Bass tourny is this weekend with 120 boats, so parking might be a problem at many of the ramps on Chemong or Buckhorn.
