  1. Back in the day, we had Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Steve Jobs... ...now we have no cash, no hope and no jobs. Please God, don't let Kevin Bacon die...
  2. Pigeon Lake (at least south of the causeway) is totally covered in ice, what I can see of Buckhorn from my house (Youngs Cove area) is totally covered in ice. Chemong is mostly open, but shorelines may be iced. Access to any ramps may be trouble, there's a lot of snow on the ground up here...
  3. I think we've camped that exact site. Crotch Lake #8? Love it there.
  4. How would you weigh in with walleye? Anything worth weighing would be well over the keep slot.
  5. The water is as high as I've ever seen it on Buckhorn (Tri-Lakes), but seems to have stabilized since Friday. Good news is the ice mostly left overnight.
  6. No more than 2 or 3 inches here in Ennismore...there was more in Peterborough than here.
  7. A couple years ago, my buddy and I camped at the Homestead on Eels Lake between Apsley & Bancroft. Seemed like just the type of park you're looking for. Fishing was good for smallies, some big largies and apparently a decent lake trout lake. www.homesteadpark.com
  8. They must have only checked under the bridge at the causeway...
  9. My first charger was a BPS brand, X-Pro or something like that. Crapped out in less than two years. I replaced it with a Minn-Kota brand several years ago and haven't had a problem since. Mine is mounted in the bow as well.
  10. Mine has clicked out like that a few times. You have to pop the side plate off and reengage it manually. It seems to happen when you try to engage the reel while still applying the barest of pressure on the release button. I've learned to make sure my thumb is far away before cranking the handle when using my Cardiff.
  11. My buddy and I wanna give Rice Lake a try this week. We're looking for a ramp (and parking) on the north shore if possible. My map book indicates a ramp at Hall's Landing. Does anybody know if this is accessible to the public? Is there parking available?
  12. Does anybody know of a place where I can get some marine carpeting in the Peterborough or Durham area? I've just had to re-build some of the upper decking on my boat and need to re-carpet it. Thanks,
  13. Nice haul Ernie. I also fish a part of Buckhorn that sees very little winter pressure. It's kinda nice to have the lake to yourself. Didja find them wormy at all? I only ask because the few perch that I kept this winter from Buckhorn were full of white grubs, the crappie that I've cleaned have been clean as a whistle.
  14. Might be a bit far for him for such a small job, but thanks for the reply. Looks like he does some nice work. Thanks Matt, I think it's a job best left to the pros. I think I could manage, but I really need it done in a timely manor once started. A local contractor is definetely preferred. I plan to have most of the materials already on hand before any work begins, already have most of the tile, flooring, shower receptor all picked out. Good luck with the jewels. Thanks Beans, I may give him a call. Do you have any pics of his work?
  15. I just picked up a couple of these http://www.basspro.com/Tempress-Navistyle-Boat-Seat-HiBack-or-LoBack/product/30333/ , the low-back version, at Bass Pro a couple months ago. Looked to be the best built and most comfy of what they had there. I think they were $115 each. I don't have them in the boat yet obviously, so I can't comment any further.
  16. We're going to be doing a bathroom remodel in the next few weeks (months?) and are in need of a qualified contractor for the job. The reno will include new flooring, replacing the tub with a tiled walk-in shower, new fixtures, addition of a couple pot lights, exhaust fan, some wall tile, prep and paint. We are re-using the existing toilet and vanity with a new top. The bathroom is only 5' x 8' plus the 60" x 30" alcove for the shower. This is our only bathroom in the house so minimum down-time without toilet and shower is important. We're located in Ennismore, 20 minutes north of Peterborough. If anyone can recommend a contractor, it would be much appreciated. If the timing is right, the ice may be gone and the crappie may be biting. We are planning a much larger renovation later in the year: wall removal, new kitchen, new flooring, etc., so a good job in the bath may lead to more work. Thanks for any recommendations.
  17. I've heard from campers at the neighbouring park (Grandview, owned by Parkbridge) that fees are as high as $3500 and that doesn't even include a boat-slip.
  18. Don't worry, it's blacked out...(on LeafsTV).
  19. The two blade will help...but it really comes down to power.
  20. How do you figger? From what I've heard of the story, seems like a slam-dunk...
  21. ...but it's a Jeep? Seriously though, definitely snow in your wheels...
  22. Roll the fillets in bacon, spritz with Italian dressing and bake in the oven or BBQ until the bacon is crisp...Crappie Delights.
  23. I have seen an episode with him casting for musky on Pigeon & Buckhorn...once...LOL Sometimes Charlie's show is nothing but a half hour commercial.
