  1. I'll never use low-grade fuel in any of my small engines again, the ethanol is a killer. I don't know if higher octane burns any hotter, from what I understand it slows down the burn. In any case, I think the lack of ethanol in high-test far outweighs a little more heat. I've run nothing but Shell high-octane in my boat, lawn mower, weed-eater (all 2 strokes) this past summer and they have never run better. My Lawnboy had always been a hassle to start at times and continue to run rough til I was almost finished the lawn, with high-test in the tank, it starts first or second pull everytime and runs like a champ. Ethanol is death for small engines, especially for motors not run everyday.
  2. Costco has the Eskimo Viper 8" for $299.
  3. Mine does double duty...I thought he might have one of each.
  4. You wouldn't consider that to be a major conflict of interest for the CO when it comes time to testify in court? Assuming he is only paid his "commission" on conviction. Sounds more like bounty hunting than law enforcement.
  5. Do you have a night time wife too?
  6. Thanks for the replies guys. Where I am on Buckhorn, the deepest water (15' to 20') also is going to have the worst ice, the middle of the lake is open water most of the winter due to current. Most of the accessible water here will be in the 8' to 12' weed flat range. I guess finding the edge will be the first step. maybe the tailing ends of the various points on this side of the lake would be good as well. Chemong may be a better option with better ice overall and a more defined weed edge leading into deeper water.
  7. With the upcoming winter season on the Kawarthas, the question that's begging to be asked... I've never targetted crappie throught he ice. Where would be a good starting point come Jan 1? I'm thinking specifically the Tri-Lakes, but I'm sure it would apply to most of the Kawarthas. Is the key to find some green weeds? What kinda depths? Will they be suspended in the deeper parts? Anybody have any ideas? I can't wait. I'm also looking forward to an early start on the spring bite. I think most years we miss the first run of crappie waiting for the end of April when the ice may have been out for as long as a month. Next year, ice-out one day...crappie fishing the next.
  8. I've had similiar symptoms (trouble walking, weak hands, poor balance) that have been steadily worsening for the last few years. After being referred to a neurologist, I was diagnosed with a form of muscular dystrophy called Charcot Marie Toothe disease. Very similiar symptoms to MS, but not near as severe or progressive. ALS was never a consideration, but so many disorders exhibit similiar symptoms, doctors barely know where to start. The rapid onset of your symptoms seems to indicate an infection rather than genetic (but I'm certainly not an MD). I've suffered from related symptoms most of my life, but only really started feeling severe effects in my late 30s. I hope you get an accurate diagnosis soon and appropriate treatment. So far, the only treatment available for my condition has been preventative, various braces and ankle supports (basically just to keep me from breaking my neck). Whatever the outcome, all you can do is soldier on...
  9. ...jealous??
  10. How many half fishes can swim in a litre of water?
  11. ...and how long until those 200 cops are sucked out of the bush and onto the street. There's more money (and PR) in traffic enforcement.
  12. Wow, that kinda blind faith in authority is kinda scary, isn't it?
  13. But they do need one to get back home, don't they?
  14. ...no option for a motor between 50hp & 75hp.
  15. I think it was something called "a joke"...lighten up.
  16. It just becomes habit to step on the pedal as you lift to set the motor the right way.
  17. ...not much different from people then...
  18. We've camped at Crotch Lake the last two summers, probably be back next year as well. Never had a lot of fishing luck on the lake, the odd decent bass...but what a beautiful place!
  19. Where in this dispute has anyone been offered less? Seems like some pretty unreasonable drivers looking for a raise that no one else seems to expect in this day & age. Comparing bus drivers to police, firefighters, EMS, etc. is laughable. They drive a bus for godsake.
  20. ...looks like he's getting ready to mount it right there on the beach... Seriously though, what a massive fish.
  21. ...done? I would certainly hope not! My 2000 Johnson runs as good as new, I hope to get alot more trouble free years on my motor. I agree that $5000 may be a bit steep, but I don't know where you would find any NEW 90hp motor of any brand for only $7000.
  22. You watched the entire 5:20? I could only stand about 2:00. That may have been the worst thing I have ever heard...
  23. We bought the receiver, or I think you can rent it for $20 a month. Usually the $299 deal is for "new customers only". If you call Bell (as an existing customer as we were) and threaten to cancel if you don't get the same deal, they'll do it for you. You need to get in contact with the "account retention" department. We paid $599, but then received a $300 programming credit applied directly to our account. This included installation and a new dish capable of feeding four receivers (or the dual tuner and two others) as well. I highly recommend the receiver, works great.
  24. We've got the Bell 9242 HD/PVR receiver with the dual tuner. It hooks up to two TVs (only one in HD though) and allows recording of one program while watching another program. We can even record two different live programs at the same time while watching another pre-recorded program on the PVR. It really has changed the way we watch TV. We have all our favourite programs pre-set to record so we never have to be watching the clock.
  25. ...nevermind having his body (and maybe others) layed up in the people shop.
