  1. ...and what's the origin of your first two choices?
  2. ...OK, I'll bite... Why is that do ya figger?
  3. ...how much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck would chuck wood...
  4. It's funny how different Canadian Tires can have such vastly different fishing departments. I've been in the Lindsay store and the selection is impressive. Another one with a much larger than average fishing selection is the store in Kingston, on Gardiner I believe it is. Both stores in Peterborough suck for fishing sections.
  5. I just spoke with Gateway and was told that pretty well every Crestliner model since 2000 is subject to recall. They just wanted the serial #, name and phone number, they will order the kit and let me know when I can bring the boat in. It's a real easy job he said and fully covered by Crestliner.
  6. Thanks for the info. I don't see my 2004 1600 Angler listed but it's worth giving them a call. The dealer I bought from (White Water Marine) is long gone, but I believe Gateway Marine is now the Crestliner dealer around Peterborough. I'll check the dealer locator.
  7. Not on a Senko exactly, but several years ago I did get a 36" musky on a 7" texas rigged power-worm. I was just dragging on bottom and suddenly my line moved 12' in about 2 seconds.
  8. The causeway launch is definitely the best public ramp around. South side of Buckhorn has no public ramps that I know of, just a couple marinas: Emerald Isle and Gannons Narrows.
  9. I wouldn't expect any pike, maybe a musky. Bass can be found in any bassy looking area. Lotsa variety to choose from on this lake, depends where on the lake you are, but anything from slop to weedflats to rocky points and shoals. Not alot of deep water available, the walleye will be mixed up with the bass in the weeds.
  10. It's a pretty simple test. I did it last year in the Home Hardware parking lot (pay if you pass) on a whim and only got 2 questions wrong. I didn't study at all, had just driven a boat for 15 years. Most are common sense, the only ones I had trouble with were the sailboat lighting configurations.
  11. Although Chemong may be smaller, Buckhorn has more protected areas from the wind.
  12. As happens all too often on the internet...I think you missed his sarcasm.
  13. You might want to save some of that $20G to put a motor on that baby. Looks like $40G just buys the boat.
  14. I fish top-water alot...probably too much. Over the years I have caught a total of one walleye on a top-water bait...so I would say not that common at all, at least for me.
  15. Figgers...my vacation is booked for the following week, otherwise it woud be very tempting...the deck doesn't need a coat of stain that bad...
  16. Wow, we got off easy in the Kawarthas I guess. The front passed through in less than an hour, lotsa lightning, lotsa rain but very little wind. We didn't even lose our power. Amazing the damage elsewhere. I hope everyone is safe and sound.
  17. Bridgenorth Sports gets my vote, probably cause it's the only decent tackle shop around here. Frank is a friendly enough guy and will try to get anything you want. Prices are obviously higher than Lebaron or BPS but there is something to be said for friendly, local service.
  18. The launch at Viamedes is public & free. Parking can be a challenge, especially on a weekend.
  19. If it's not the charging circuit on the motor, could be as simple as the battery is pooched and won't hold a charge.
  20. Get a V8. I've got V6 mid-size 4x4 truck that noone seems to like. My only regret is the engine size, better power and mileage from the V8.
  21. Nothin' wrong with this Dakota... Every truck has problems. I've had this one since new since June 2001 and the only major repair has been a new tranny at about 120K.
  22. Good aim.
  23. I've got a 2001 4x4 V6. It's been a great truck and pulls my 16' Crestliner just fine. That being said, go for the V8 for better power and mileage, but get the 4x4, you'll thank yourself in winter and at any soft launch.
  24. I've got a Citica "Bantam" that's about 10 years old and still works alright. The reel has seen better days but I still use it almost daily. I've beaten it up pretty good over the years, it was the reel I learned how to baitcast with. I don't know how similar the new ones are to mine, but overall, a pretty good, tough reel for the money.
  25. I could be wrong...but it sounds like running your bait (especially a spinner of some sort) just under the surface. Usually referred to as "bulging" your bait. Leaves a wake in it's trail.
