Funny thing you say that, I've done the same thing with my CRESTLINER and didn't realize for hours. No water ever came up over the floor boards. The only reason we figured out the plug was out is that we got caught in a downpour and when I put the bilge pump on, it pumped out an extraordinary amount of water after a 1/2 hour of pouring rain. We had been fishing for at least 4 hours before the rain and had no idea the plug was out. My buddy did the same once with his Legend (Smokercraft hull) and almost sank his boat. I'm still torn about this recall, I can't afford to lose any storage either and the aforementioned incident gave me a lot of confidence in the floatation of my Crestliner as is.

You won't have any problems, we don't have near that kinda snow around here, and the lakes are just starting to freeze up nicely...with no snow on top.
-
I'm sure people will just be drowning all over the place, being the Kawarthas and all... Seriously though, this is great. I hope to more of this kinda thing around here. It's always been a shame that these lakes could never be used to their full potential year round.

So just "bend over and take it" is what you suggest...
-
So you have no discretion available to you when you are on the street? Just gotta do what then boss tells you, "just following orders, sir". We heard a lot of that at Nuremburg sixty years ago. Grow some balls and do what you think is right.

If you wanna fish the narrows at any time of year, you'll need a boat...it never freezes over, open water all winter. Some people must think that since there has never been fishing through the ice around here, noone has ever been on it. If you drive across the causeway on Chemong, you'll see that the lake is very busy all winter long with everything except ice fishing, most years there is an "ice-road" on Chemong from the causeway all the way to Curve Lake. As long as I've lived here, there have been very few, if any, cases of people or vehicles going through the ice and trust me, there are lots of vehicles out there every year. It's not just fishermen who use the ice. Sure there are lots of places to avoid due to current. such as Gannons Narrows, but if people excersise caution and common sense (I know, I know...it's not so common anymore) you'll be fine. As Michael said, ice-fishermen are some of the safest people on the ice. There will always be "yahoos" who push the envelope but you don't need a fishing season to bring them out of the woodwork. My guess is the first drowning you hear of on the Kawarthas this year, if there are any, won't be a fisherman. The ice has always been here and people have always been using it for fun and transportation, just that now we get to drill a few holes and hopefully pull a few fish through them.

From what I've heard, the couple in question were not mouthing off, passed out on a park bench or causing any kind of problem. Good thing you don't live in Bowmanville, staggering home from the bar seems to be an issue, unless you got a badge of course...

...because nobody ever falls out of a boat and drowns in open water...
-
...but then you gotta listen to the buses going by all the time.

You must be a liberal...let's just make everything illegal, then everybody would be safe. Gotta love the "nanny state". If common sense is applied, there's no reason to keep vehicles off the ice when it's safe. Just tell Wayne he can't drive to his cottage in the winter (I know, I know...he would just fly in), but if you had your way, I guess planes would be verboten on the ice as well.

Some serious snow coming down now...still horizontal though. I've finished all the paperwork I can do at home..guess it's time to hit the road, hopefully not the ditch.
-
So far it's more of a wind storm here north of Peterborough, whatever snow is falling is falling horizontal, no real accumulation to speak of... I was hoping to try out my new snowblower but the little bit on my deck & driveway could be swept away with a broom.

...Sept 12th I believe.

I bet the natives wished that they hadn't come back...

I've looked before at BPS, so it must be recently that they have started to carry it. I'll have to remember to look next time I'm there.

I hope with the exposure that this story has gotten, that Durham Region's finest may be giving this policy a "re-think". You'll never hear anything publicly of course, they will never admit they were wrong, but they just might realize that they were.

I've seeen that same picture...the kid is wearing a habs sweater though...makes more sense with the habs sweater.

I was wondering how my bucket of "gulp alive" will survive the winter. I forgot it in the boat when I covered and stored it for the season.

My favourite mono as well. It's almost impossible to find anywhere. I know of one small tackle store that still has some, but at $13.99 a spool, it's pricey. Lebarons used to sell it for just over $7. I've got a couple spools of 6 & 8 lb left. Is it even made anymore?

With the new ice fishing season in the Kawarthas, my list is too long to type. Got a start with an early present so far, the Eskimo QuickFish 3 pop-up ice hut. Had it set up on the deck yesterday, now it's back under the tree. A snowmobile would be nice, but not in the cards this year. All I can hope for is good enough ice for the truck.

...only downside is it will involve the Habs...

Wow...amazing how one of those "junior B" teams can thoroughly thrash one of those "real NHL" teams...

where to spray fogging oil in carburetor? pic attached
Jer replied to Fish4Eyes's topic in General Discussion
There should be a "tire valve" type fitting somewhere on the other side of the motor. The fogging can from OMC, sorry BRP, has a fitting that threads right on that valve. Follow the directions on the can and you're done. You shouldn't have to remove the air filter or the plugs. -
I was looking at the one set up at our Costco, looks lke a decent unit, especially at that price. The same tent is $299 on Cabela's Canadian website. I'm torn between something like that or a flip-over like a Clam Nanook. It's the wind that concerns be about the pop-up style, those ice anchors look like a pain. I like the added weight of the sled on a flip-over to keep it from blowing away.
