  1. I also found it quickly with Canada411.ca http://canada411.yellowpages.ca/search/?stype=si&bn=false&what=Marions+bait+and+tackle&where=Havelock%2C+Ontario&x=28&y=8
  2. Terry what the heck is an oozie? Is that when you stub your toe and it bleeds a little? Sure you didn't mean UZI.
  3. Either the battery is shot & won't hold a charge or something is draining the charge out. My guess by your description is that the battery is gone. The voltage regulator could also be the cause. One question is how old is the battery? You can either have the battery tested at a shop or try to test it your self. On top of your charger all you need is a volt meter. First check the voltage of the battery as it sits. Should be in the high 12 volts to low 13's. If not it's low. Next charge the battery enough to start the vehicle and start the vehicle. Now check the voltage with the vehicle running. With the vehicle running & charging the battery you should get a reading in the mid to high 13's to 14. If it is much higher than 14 or lower than the 13's when charging the voltage regulator is not working properly.(Note: nowadays most if not all voltage regulators are internal in the alternator) If everything is fine so far let the vehicle run until the battery is charged. Next shutdown the vehicle & disconnect the battery. Let set for 1/2 - 1 hour & check battery voltage. Should be in the high 12's. Let set for a day or 2 & check battery voltage again. Should be close to your reading you got when you checked it after letting it set for 1/2 - 1 hour. If after the first check after 1/2 - 1 hour of setting it never got to the high 12's (and voltage regulator was working properly) or the charge had dropped more than slightly ( on the check after a day or 2) the battery is not holding the charge. If all is still fine and the battery is still holding the charge reconnect the battery & let it set for a day. If the voltage has now dropped significantly than some thing is draining the battery in the vehicle. This at times can be hard to trace down. Good Luck: Rick PS: Never just replace the battery without testing the system. A bad voltage regulator putting out too much voltage will quickly fry a new battery & if it is not putting out enough power a new battery will be of little help either. Same applies to something in the vehicle draining the battery where a new battery will be little help.
  4. I have a similar depth finder the Humminbird PiranhaMAX 170. Your fish finder like mine has a dual beam transducer. 20 deg & 60 deg. There is no way to determine if the fish is left, right, front or back of your boat but you can determine if it's in the narrow or wide beam. The 60 deg beam is only activated when the Fish ID+ is turned on. Fish in the narrow beam are a solid black where the fish in the 60 deg beam are as hollow fish. A hollow symbol turning solid in colour indicates a fish which has passed from the wide to narrow beam. When trolling this will most likely indicate a fish passing from front to back but it could have came in from any direction. As for calculating beam coverage here is a calculator I use: http://www.furunousa.com/LearningCenter/Transducer-Beam-Angle-Calculator.aspx
  5. Actually the water levels are quite high for this time of year. I never seen it so high in August. This is due to the heavy rains we had over the last few weeks. Water is also quite stained due to runoff from these storms. Topwater baits are fine for first & last light but during the day stick with something that makes noise (spinners & rattle lures) or disturb large volumes of water (large plugs) in bright colours & finishes.
  6. Once the smallies get use to eating gobies yes they will get bigger. This spring on Lake Erie the average size of the perch was excellent and far better than years past. You guessed it they were full of gobies.
  7. Exactly. I worked myself up to 4 weeks vacation than plant closes. Start over. I worked myself up to 3 weeks vacation than plant closes. Start over. Just started new job. No vacation this year. Crap happens. For those with vacations enjoy them. Have a few beers for me. I'll also have a few but mine will be after work. Best Wishes: Rick
  8. As Big Cliff stated they can be on any body of water. A few weeks back we seen one on Erie about 5 miles off shore from Port Glasgow. Be careful: Rick
  9. I prefer one blade and two single hooks. Here's a few I just finished tying up which I hope to try out this weekend.
  10. Try Wildwood for bass & pike. Under a hour from you. Rick
  11. Yup what Grimace said.I just picked up a bottle at my local UAP/NAPA in St.Marys today.
  12. Last Sat we headed out of Port Burwell to the east a fair distance and out to 47 fow. The two of us brought home about 80 jumbo's.
  13. I have a 170. CLofchik's answer is the correct one. Transducer reads the temp. Mine worked fine on Lake Erie yesterday with surface temps of 69 degs. F. Rick
  14. A common misconception is that the boat has to be operated for more than 44 consecutive days. If the boat is in Canada for 45 days then some type of proof of competency is required. Also to be exempted from having proof of competency the boat must be their own (not fathers or friends ect.). Ref: Transport Canada - Safe Boating Guide (TP 511E)(01/2009) Now will this be enforced???????????
  15. How to give a cat a pill. Step #1 : Insert pill down mouse's throat. Step #2 : Should be obvious.
  16. Being on the water 45 or more days in a row plays no part. It is if your boat is in Canada for 45 or more consecutive days whether it is used or not.
  17. "If you are a non-resident visiting Canada with your boat, you are not required to carry proof of competency on board as long as your boat is in Canada for less than 45 consecutive days. If you do require proof of competency (because the above doesn't apply to you or you want to operate a boat licensed or registered in Canada) then you may use a operator card or similar proof of competency issued by your home state or country. Either way, you must keep proof of residence on board with you at all times." Taken from: Transport Canada - TP 511E (01/2009)
  18. Legal as dead bait unless stated in the zone exceptions.
  19. Actually for my purposes I'm not a big fan of the dual beam. But on the 170 it only comes on when Fish Alarm & Fish ID are both turned on and than both are active together. On the 170 it is 20 deg & 60 deg. 20 deg active all the time. I looked at the Eagle 245 DS but the 60 deg - 120 deg transducer angles seemed far too wide for me. I bought the Humminbird PiranhaMax 170 due to the other features such as higher pixel #'s, 8 levels of grayscale and higher power output.
  20. BPS has the Humminbird PiranhaMax 170 for $120. Dual Beam, 240V x 160H B&W display. 8 level grayscale. 1600 Watts (PTP).
  21. How about Italian roast potatoes. Scrub potatoes and cut into pieces. (4 pieces for a medium potato) Place in large tuperware container. Wet down with olive oil. Season to taste with garlic salt, salt, pepper & Italian seasoning. Cover and shake. Dump into large metal cake pan(skins down) & bake in a pre-heated oven until browned.(350 degs. for aprox. 35-40 mins.) Serve & enjoy.
  22. I have the 170. Both the 160 &170 are both dual beam. A useless feature IMO. The 170 has almost twice the pixels. The 170 has twice the power. 1600 watts (PTP) compared to 800 watts. 160 has 4 level grayscale where the 170 has 8 level. The 170 is not offered in a portable that I know of. At least the 160 portable comes with a rechargeable 12 volt battery compared to many portables that use 8 AA batteries. Even on sale CTC prices are too high. Check out BPS or Radio World for better prices.
