I went on a charter once on lake huron and same thing happened. I was watching the rods and just a slight movement of the rod and then nothing. I told the captain I am sure i saw it move and sure enough there was a laker on. Funny thing was it must have crossed the downrigger line. I ended up reeling the 4 lb laker and the 10 pound cannonball. I was sure it was a big fish lol until it surfaced .

a month ago, I was driving on the 407, and out of nowhere the the traffic slows down. I'm thinking this shouldn't happen on the 407 at this time! turns out there was a boat flipped over laying in the fast lane. I think it came off the trailer. there was no tow vehicle or trailer to be found

that setup was the one that caught both last year when we went.

too bad they don't make the shimano Zuraca anymore.my first fishing rod and the best. 6.6 medium action rod, with a silky smooth reel. hauled in 2 20+ lb salmon last year with rod that rod/reel with 15lb line. Personally I like anything made by Shimano.

Nice story! My plan is to go there tomorrow with the family for a little redemption for last years fish that cut me off lol. Hopefully some fish around. The few times I have been to maitland Pier, I too noticed everyone fishing the river side. When I would ask those fishing why no one fished the other side, they simply said there are no fish there!
