Why not give Reimer a chance at a bounce back game? I think he played well during his recent starts. Its just the offence couldnt put anything into the opposing net. And why put bernier back into the game yesterday?Even the commentators disagreed with putting Bernier back in. I caught the game at that same moment and heard Reimer did well in goal. I really feel that Reimer should be traded to another team for his own sake. He is the only goalie to take them to the playoffs in god knows how many years, and the way he is treated I find it to be unfair.

So I thought there were major trades etc coming for the leafs during this all star break. That didn't happen. What does that mean?

A friend of mine went ice fishing a few hours north of Toronto last year and he told me all they were catching was snakeheads. I guess the population here in Canada is growing
-
I heard If you catch one, you must kill it. I know possession is illegal. How about taking it home and eating it? I know the snakehead is eaten by a lot of people in other parts of the world especially in the Asia. Supposedly it tastes very good.

The color scheme of Target might be good for Canadian Tire to move in.

I will be going to Michigan mid March for a couple of days and would like to fish for one day. I am going specifically in the area of Gaylord Michigan. There are a few lakes around there the biggest being Otsego lake, but I have heard that fishing there is not great. Manistee river is close to where we are going, but I wonder if it will be flowing or will it be iced over at that time. Also that part of the river is at the end of the river, or that it was it seems like on google maps. If there are other places I should try, please let me know or pm me. I would like to stay within 15-20 mins of Gaylord since the family will be at the cottage while me and a friend go fishing. I don't want to go far since cell phone service is not the greatest in that area. Also what are the fishing regulations in regards to catch and release, or keeping fish for that time of the year and that zone? I read that there are spots that are only for fly fishing which we want to avoid since we will be doing regular fishing. Thanks

it may be nice to some and ugly to others. Personally I like the styling of the Ford Flex (I guess I like the boxy style since I'm a Volvo guy lol) and the fact that it has quite lot of trunk space compared to other crossovers. For sure you cannot beat cargo space and roominess of the traverse or Acadia. if I was in the market for one of those, I would go straight for the Enclave.

I own a 2004 Volvo xc90, and it has been great. Nothing different as far as maintenance than others, and gas mileage is similar to a minivan. If you find a trustworthy mechanic who specializes in Volvos, or can do the work yourself, then they are not at all expensive. I have worked on many cars, and they are by far the easiest to work on. they are uncomparable in the snow, seat 7, and they can tow quite a bit and plenty of cargo space. If you would like to look at them, then I would strongly suggest a 2006 xc90 2.5t with lower mileage. Stay away from any T6 models. You will never have to worry about having a rusted car, as they don't rust. Out of the rest of the bunch, I would suggest the Ford Flex. I think they are pretty roomy, and gotta love the styling.

Car Rental Insurance. Read the small print.
huzzsaba replied to limeyangler's topic in General Discussion
Do the rental companies treat you any different if you decline their coverage? as in harsher inspection of the car on return? I am covered by my insurance and my credit card, but I buy their insurance just for peace of mind . -
Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will stick with Chicago. Are there any indoor places that are highly recommended? And I mean places for kids. Lastly, is it worth it to take the long route back through Sault Ste Marie especially in the winter? How is the scenery along hwy 17 in the winter? I have always wanted to check out northern Ontario since we used to travel this route when we were kids to visit my grandparents in Sault Ste Marie.

Looking to get away with the family during the winter break. Probably 2-3 nights. Have been to all the cities here around Toronto (Niagara, Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec). Looking to go somewhere in the US (wife wants to do some shopping there ), so looking for cities with indoor activities to keep busy for a few days. We've been to Detroit, and New York several times, so that is out of the question. I really want to go to Florida, myrtle beach or the smoky mountains, but they are all too far for a drive and airline ticket prices are insane. Thinking of Chicago since its not too far. Are there any other cities worth visiting that won't be too expensive accommodation wise. I guess anything 9-10 hours max from Oakville area is what I'm looking for. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I certainly do understand that that weather plays a big part. What surprised me was that the first weekend of June I went to Awenda and it was crazy. Less that 5 days later, I went to Pinery, and there was not a single bug to be seen. Both places had similar weather, similar campsites with sand base, and tall trees all around, with the exception that Pinery campground was closer to the water than the Awenda Campground. I also agree that booking one place over another is foolish because of bugs, but when the better half is not as keen on camping, its best to find a place with less critters

Bookings for May 2015 camping season is now open , so looking for mosquito free camping spots. Realistically, I know this is not really possible, and I'm not looking for luxury camping as I do tent camping, but somewhere where you don't have to keep swatting mosquitos or having to take a bath in mosquito repellant. I already know of two places where I have never encountered issue with mosquitoes whether it was early or late in the season. Both are parks on the shores of Lake Huron (Point Farms& Pinery), and I believe its because of the constant breeze coming off of the lake. Gotta love the soothing sound of the breeze at nighttime . On the contrary, I visited Awenda PP which is on the shores of Georgian Bay the week before I went to Pinery, and it was a constant struggle to keep the mosquitos away. They attacked us like there was no tomorrow ! We visited Rondeau PP and while the mosquitos were not bad, the ticks were a major concern with the lime tick disease. Looking forward to all the suggestions.

Thanks for the replies. Last month, my wife and I went for a walk at Erindale park and witnessed one of the guys with a salmon on, but it was definitely hooked by the side or tail. I hope it was not intentional. To make matters worst, the fish swam around a big rock which pinned his line against the rock. and that wasn't all, I think his line was also tangle on his reel, so the fish stayed in that position for at least 30 mins that we decided to stay and watch. God knows how much longer it was in that position after we left. Unfortunately I couldn't help him because I didn't come prepared to wade into the water, but there were plenty of others fishing and wading, but nobody thought of going in and helping out the fish. Maybe its against etiquette to go in after someone else's fish, but in this case, I wish someone had interceded for the sake of the fish. I guess it also doesn't help when the guy fishing didn't speak English, nor did he ask anyone to help him out.

So after watching videos of snaggers, and reading posts and articles regarding snagging, it leaves me wondering if fishing using a float is the only safe way of fishing. I always thought that casting and reeling in is fine, but I read that this can cause snagging. I was also taught that when you feel a bite, then you should quickly pull up on the rod, but again according to what I have read, this can be considered snagging. What is the best way to go about this? I dont want to go out fishing and be doing something I am not suppose to. i would also like to know if snagging is different in rivers vs lakes. And just to be clear, I have not done any snagging or gone fishing with that intention. The only fish I did catch was properly caught through the mouth. I have heard quite a bit about snagging and would not want to be one of those types. Thanks

bronte creek fishing with bronte park & Grand river fishing
huzzsaba replied to huzzsaba's topic in General Discussion
thanks for the reply Dave. I'm still new at the fishing terms. I understand that the water levels will be high I guess due to the "November thaw", but what do you mean by the holes at bronte, and them being dangerous. -
Looking to do some fishing the end of this week. I live close to Bronte Park and was wondering if there any decent fishing this time of the year within the park. Trying to avoid the FREE Parks due to there being more people fishing. I have always considered going to Grand river but being far from where I live, would it be worth going at this time of the year, specifically by the Caledonia dam.

I recently bought a used inflatable boat to use on small lakes and rivers. I plan to do some work on it like putting hard floor for stability and possibly a small trolling motor. I plan to put 2 adults and at the most 2 adults and 2 children. Looking for ideas to make the boat better and safer. Buying a bigger boat is not an option because of lack of storage space. Thanks

Wheatley & Pinery Provincial Park Fishing
huzzsaba replied to huzzsaba's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the replies. Definitely will check out the spots mentioned. -
Wondering how the fishing is in Wheatley PP specifically Boosey Creek and Sugar Creek within the park. Same for the Ausable channel in Pinery PP? These are two spots I plan to go camping next summer and hoping to get some fishing done within the park as well as a beach to enjoy. Thanks

I asked a few leafs fans and they seem to think the players are trying to get Carlyle fired. After watching the game, it seems Reimer's performance is hinting towards him wanting to be traded. I don't blame him. I think he should be traded to get a fresh start elsewhere. After taking the leafs to the playoffs for the first time in a long time, and to game 7, and then to be a backup must be tough.

Back when I was younger and crazier lol , and didn't have a phone or any type of roadside assistance, I changed a tire on a older company van (GMC 12 passenger van) on the left shoulder of the 401. If I remember correctly, it was somewhere in Scarborough and it wasn't fun. To make matters more interesting, the spare tire ended up being flat as well . I now have CAA membership , so I would probably call them up if I was stuck on a busy highway. Other small highways, or roads, I would do it myself and save a call.

I will be travelling to Montreal next week and wondering if it is worth swinging by Rice Lake at the dock in Bewdley. I have never been there, so I don't know what to expect. Looking to fish for 1-2 hours depending on the weather. Even if I catch one, its good enough. Thanks

Fishing spots on Maitland river in Goderich
huzzsaba replied to huzzsaba's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for all the replies. I just got into fishing this year and I am just exploring the areas. I live in Oakville but have been camping at least twice at Point Farms each summer. Since there is not much to do at the campground, I figured it would be nice to get some fishing done. I always peek over to the right when driving over the river on hwy 21, and never really saw anyone there, which is why I was wondering if it is allowed there. Same with the harbor, the one time I went there, Didn't see anyone fishing. I understand most people will not give away the "good spots" just like that, and I realized I mentioned finding the "best spots" in my original post, but that is not my intention. I am just trying to find a place in general where I wouldn't get in trouble fishing lol. Being a beginner, a 1lb fish would make my day at this point -
Wondering what are the best spots for fishing around Goderich. Point Farms being our favourite camping spot, we go there a few times every year. Looking at the map, I see the only place around there being the harbor where Maitland river starts off lake Huron on the road that leads to the Sifto Factory and under hwy 2 bridge. Is this correct? Is fishing allowed in these spots. I was checking the regulations for Zone 16, and it mentions that Pacific Salmon, Rainbow trout, and Brown trout is open until December 31st on Maitland river from Hwy 21 until county Rd 4. Am I reading this right? Where do you park to get to the river under the bridge? Thanks
