huzzsaba replied to manitoubass2's topic in General Discussion
Sounds like a awesome fishing day! Happy birthday to your little girl! -
Something really fishy about last night 10-0 lost of the habs against columbus. And not just that, Therien didnt think pulling Montoya was a good idea :dunno:

Same here. Might head there today.

Thanks for the replies. I guess the only way to hook into these is foul hooking or netting. Oh well, back to steelheading. Now if only could get lucky with those! .

So went out to the local Pier and saw a school of fish I've never seen before. Beautiful blueish grayish color. Asked a fellow fisherman what they were and was told they were American Shad. They were all in the 2-4 lb range. Not knowing anything about them, I guessed they would be fished similar to carp using corn. After searching, It seems they eat plankton. So what is the best way to catch them? I'm pretty sure they would put up a good fight

NIce! Beautiful colors on those fish!

Sure thing!

So with all the talks about a harsher winter, are we expecting earlier ice fishing season? I sure hope so because the wife has banned me from ice fishing unless the ice is more than 12 inches thick. I don't blame her. Last year, with 10 inches of ice mid february, and ice still forming, we rented a hut on cooks bay. halfway through the day, we felt the ice shift (like a earthquake). Not fun IMO . Hopefully we have a winter like 2 winters ago. more than 30 inches of ice!

Tires23 in Mississauga is pretty good. I was looking for 18 inch tires for my volvo and was quoted 1200 everywhere else. They had them installed balanced for $800 taxes included. Plus their waiting room is one of the best.

I'm tired of Cogeco, interested in "The Box" NF
huzzsaba replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
I am interested in this thread as well. I have cogeco and agree you don't get much for what you pay. Internet is fine however. Anyhow, realistically how much GB of internet usage will be used for say a few hours of tv each day? I am guessing one should have unlimited usage with their internet provider for a android tv box. -
is it just me or does anyone else dislike the new format that nhl.com is using? I miss the old version. much easier to navigate and highlights and game stats were so much easier to find.

Shoulda kept Reimer

Nice! Do you put any weight above the lure? I have the same color and size. Never caught anything on it . Maybe I have to try harder I did catch a bass on the bleeding frog flatfish.

Update: the tech came out and narrowed it down to the pressure switch. He wasn't surprised it went out in less than 2 years. He said most new furnaces have a lot of plastic in them and it is expected. He also told me that Rheem is not great for furnaces since their parts are hard to get. Just a heads up for anyone looking to replace their furnace. Thanks for help. The furnace is up and running great again! In case anyone needs a technician, Amir from express air solutions came quick and got the job done. ?

Thanks for the replies. Yes I am not going to touch the actual furnace. Just wanted to make sure something simple like a thermostat setting or like some mentioned a clogged pipe may be the issue that wouldn't require messing with the actual furnace. I got in touch with the landlord and will be contacting the home warranty guys. Let's see how long it take lol.

So the place I rent had the furnace replaced 2 years ago (Rheem brand). I just realized this morning because it was freezing cold in the house that the heat is not turning on. So far I replaced the batteries in the thermostat (battery light was flashing) replaced the filter, turned the switch beside the furnace on and off as well as checked the fuse. Everything seems to be fine. Basically when I turn the thermostat to heat, the furnace turns on for 30 seconds, then shuts off. If I set the thermostat to fan, the fan will turn on but the fan will not turn on when it is in auto mode and with the setting on heat. It'd currently showing 69 degrees on the thermostat, however the upstairs floor is more like 62 degrees. I set the thermostat at 74 for now and even put it up to max 82 to see if it would kick on, but no luck. I called the company that installed the furnace and they want 100 bucks to check it since it's past the warranty. I know it's my landlords problem but want to make sure before I get him to send someone that I am not missing any steps in the initial diagnosis, and then I look like a fool ?. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I will give the places in between a shot if I cannot make it to Port Hope. I was at Port hope 3 weeks ago and did well. Went 2/3. Both over 20 lbs. But as we all know salmon fishing is addictive and you can never get enough of it ? Tried Bronte last night for a few hours but nothing. Seen a few jumpers, but no bites.

I would like to get out for one last shot at salmon fishing for the season. Port hope is a 90 min drive for me so if someone can give me a heads up whether the fish are still there or whether it has slowed down, I would appreciate it. I am interested in chucking spoons off the pier at the mouth of the Ganny. Please PM me. Thanks

Very nice! thanks for sharing!

so which one is the Atlantic? the top one or the bottom? Pardon my ignorance . Nevermind, I think it's the bottom one. The top one is very dark!

Might be worth asking some home reno stores in Quebec. I have never seen garage heaters in any house in ontario built from factory although I am sure there may be some. It seems the quebec homes are built with garage heaters installed. Back when my dad lived in Montreal, there was a simple garage heater with a built in thermostat that kicked in when the temp dropped. It hung from the ceiling of the garage. the garage was at least 11 feet tall (single car garage) and it never got very cold. not toasty warm but good enough to be able to work on the car etc without freezing. Dad sold the house 2 years ago after 25 years of living there and the heater worked great as day one.

Last night I went 2 for 2 on my Shimano Zuraca rod and reel combo. It is 6.6 rod with about 3 inches missing because It broke off. Both were king Salmon weighing over 20 lbs. I have 15 lb braid with 15 lb Maxima Ultragreen Leader. I know it is not the ideal setup, but I could not believe how well the rod did considering it is just over 6 feet and medium strength rod with a 1 ball bearing reel. https://www.amazon.com/Shimano-ZUR250066M2S-Zuraca-2500F-Combo/product-reviews/B004BL7APW
