  1. What's going on with gas prices? $1.24?? I thought it gets cheaper in the winter?
  2. I agree with you OI. I always communicate my best with truck drivers around me by a quick flash of the lights, and flashers for a thank you. I honestly dont drive as much anymore on the highways since my parents moved to Alberta from Montreal. but whenever I do get on the highway now in the city, its pretty crazy. People driving crazy, or too slow in the fast lanes. My insurance has been steadily going up every year, and its not due to tickets on my part, thankfully. When I ask why, its always the same story of more claims made in the last year in our zone . Seems like you try to save money in one place, but don't really save anything because its comes back to bite you from elsewhere.
  3. I have driven all over north america, and never had issue with truck drivers. I don't mind at all sharing the roads with them.
  4. 400 is the autobahn of Canadian Highways!
  5. congrats on the Walleye! My question, why would they stock the hamilton harbour and not elsewhere? Walleye are probably the most sought after for eating, they should stock them in less toxic environment. Would be nice to fish for them from the local piers.
  6. Great video as usual Simon! Maybe its just me, but I am kind of looking foward to the snow for a change. And yes I do have a driveway to shovel. I may change my mind halfway through though
  7. thats cuz they are all in the city! Honestly, this year I have seen a surge in skunks in urban areas.
  8. congrats!
  9. Thanks for your reply Brian. that roe looks beautiful. I just remembered my neighbor gave me some of the rainbow trout he caught a few days ago, and gave me some of its eggs as well. it was frozen already. I will see if I can use your cure method for those and maybe tie those into roe bags.
  10. My friend caught his first ever salmon a few weeks ago and gave me the roe. I got on youtube and saw a few videos on curing it with borax. I did just that since it was the quickest and easiest. My plan was to use it for rainbow trout/steelhead, but not sure if people do use big chunks of skein for them. Rather I hear of single eggs or smaller size roe bags. I know I should have asked before curing them, but its done now lol, and I don't plan on keeping any more female salmon for this year. I'm sure skein works, but just seeing if there is a certain size that the rainbows like. I am planning to use them for brown trout as well.
  11. I haven't fished the kawarthas, but I have done well for bass with pink and black senko. Have caught pretty much all my bass on that with the exception of 1 on minnow and the other on a gulp worm . EDIT: these were all caught in the summer. Never know it may still work in the fall
  12. Big Cliff, very sorry for your loss. I pray to god that he gives you patience through these tough times.
  13. A friend of mine went for a 3 day deer hunting trip . Didn't have any luck so he dug up a tree and brought it home
  14. I started reading this thread from the top not paying attention to the date it was posted and I am thinking, I have never seen these many members from sault post on one thread lol. Later realized its from 2009! Hope you get the answer to your question Pitch55. Sault Folks are great!
  15. I am still using budget rod/reels made by shimano. The most used is my shimano Zuraca 2500 reel which surprisingly only has one ball bearing in it.this combo came came with a 6.6 medium power rod and sold for anywhere from $35-40. Toobad its discontinued now and veryhard to find. Have caught 4 big 15-20 lb salmon on it , as well as many other fish.(knock on wood) hope it lasts a long time! The drag is amazing and very smooth reel. I can only imagine how good the higher end reels are!
  16. I only tried SMB once and it tasted fine. I think key is cut it up and deep fry it.
  17. My friend picked up the rod today. Ketchenany, thanks and yes done.
  18. When I got home, I realized in the pile of rods that mine was missing. I had a feeling someone trustworthy would find it and make the effort to return it back. For this I am truly thankful!
  19. My guess since its been sitting for so long is it would need brakes and tires. Maybe exhaust too.
  20. Its confirmed that its mine. Just waiting for my friend in North York to pick it up for me.
  21. Thanks Bassfighter. I did leave my backup rod reel combo there. Very kind of you to try and find the owner. Sent you a PM.
  22. I wonder which one is harder. Quitting smoking or losing weight? Anyway, I wish you the best Simon!
  23. I wish .... . Lucky you
  24. Used to live in Wichita, KS, air capital of the world. Seeing and hearing these types of planes was a normal occurrence. One day however, when we were at home, we felt a vibration like an earthquake but nothing in sight, until a few mins later, a B2 stealth bomber flies over our apartment complex. incredible sight, and definitely not a frequent one!
