  1. going out with gilford yellow huts tomorrow. Said ice is good. Wish us luck!
  2. Lol great story. Luckily it didnt do its jumping until I went to touch it. It behaved when the kids were around. I think I will do that from now on.
  3. Today was the first time actually targeting pike. Lessons I learned today: 1) Pike don't care what line you are using. We had them hit a steel leader, pickeral rig, regular mono, braid. 2) Don't underestimate the sharpness of their teeth. had 3 pike cut our lines like butter. 3) Most of the hits were on smaller of medium size minnows. approx 4 inch minnows. larger 5 inch ones didn't get an hits. 4) all hits were deadstick. watched the rod tip go down and waited a few seconds before setting the hook.
  4. I mayhave a watched a video of something like that on youtube lol indeed freaky! I caught it 30 minutes before we had to leave so that is nowhere close to your 5+ hours. Hopefully a week in the freezer takes care of that!
  5. lol. never had this happen with salmon or trout. those die pretty quick.
  6. So finally caught a pike today, Made sure it was dead before putting it in the car. 3 hours later I throw it in the sink to get the slime off so that its easy to hold while I make my first ever attempt to fillet a pike and its starts twitching and jumping in the sink. I can probably handle a perch twitching, but a pike, no way lol. So......how long before it stops? I just threw it in the freezer to fillet another day, but terrified it may start moving again lol when it defrosts. "flame suit on"
  7. exactly a week ago, when the temps were really cold, we caught only 5 perch with 3 of us fishing with Tim Hales ice huts. That is equivalent to being skunked lol. On a positive note, my 2 friends said they had the best nap ever while sitting in the middle of Lake Simcoe
  8. Not in your area, but may be worth contacting Luke from Wasse tour on Manitoulin Island. http://www.wasstours.com/experiences.html
  9. Looking forward to your report.
  10. DId you get out on Sunday? I did and it was slow. Went with tim Hales and the report was that it was slow for everyone. hardly any fish marked on the fishfinder.
  11. I called Donnie Monday morning to book for Feb and he answered the first time
  12. I think Bear Point ice huts has his huts for lakers and whitefish. Tim Hales told me yesterday he probably wont have his laker huts out until end of 1st week in Feb.
  13. Anyone get in touch with them this ice fishing season? I usually book with Dave once or twice every year but this year he hasn't replied to emails nor returned phone calls which is unlikely of him. He usually calls back or emails within a day. Maybe they moved ?
  14. If I was in town I would take you up on that offer. Maybe in 2019 lol if you are solo

Likewise, been using vonage since 2004 and get unlimited calling to most countries in the world for $35 CAD taxes included. No issues and their customer service is really good. No plans on switching since we are very happy with their service.
  16. Yes Sir.. Thanks
  17. Thanks for all the replies. Hopefully last question, does the weather, daylight, barometric pressure affect being that they are so deep. I have booked with Tim Hales for february. fingers crossed it is safe to get out there.
  18. Believe me, I have been watching those videos! How is laker fishing during the night hours? I noticed they have a 24 hour rate as well for $100. Not a bad price I think,
  19. Thanks Bill and Brian. I will probably book with Donny and if that doesn't go well, try Ryan.
  20. Looking to book with an operator on lake Simcoe for some lakers this winter. Last 2 winters, i was planning to go with Tim Hales, but their laker grounds never really had safe ice for them to operate their laker huts. Hoping this year will be different. However, I belive there are a few operators on kempenfelt bay that did get out for lakers last year. Can anyone recommend one I should book with? I would like to try it out at least once or twice this winter. Also with laker fishing, I am guessing its not catching one after the other like perch fishing. I have never ice fished for them. On average, how many can I expect to hook into in a single 8-4 outing considering I get out with the good operator and use the right bait. Just checking so that I don't bring my impatient friend on this trip lol in case it is normally slower type of fishing. Thanks
  21. What did he catch?
  22. Were you bottom bouncing? Last time I went there a few weeks ago, the dam was wide open due to some construction and the current was too strong. Even the regulars were complaining about the current.
  23. Looks Nice! will take some time to get used to tho!
  24. Would love to go but I work at that time unfortunately. BTW, do you need waders to volunteer?
  25. did you go today?
