  1. Seems kinda strange that there's a lot of people looking for them because they are reliable and cheap to drive, as for 13l/100km, I do better than that with a Dodge CTD, use 12.5l/100km and I could probably put your rice burner in the back with all the kit and not drop much..
  2. I'm of the belief that not everything has to be supersized to get the job done. Unless you're hauling a boat around every day of the week, full size can be a waste of space, gas and money.
  3. Please enlighten me about the flares.
  4. The stainless ratchet mount goes for $39 and antennas start around $50 at BPro. I had the nylon ratchet mount, way too flexible for an 8" antenna.
  5. Well I can tell you portables are just good enough to listen to the local marine weather forecast and to other boaters within a couple km's. I sold mine and got the permanent mount, much better reception and some decent power when your butts in the sling and you need help. I even had the portable hooked up to the big antenna and hooked into the boats 12V system, no difference. For pretty much the same price, get the permanent one and like Terry said, Don't cheap out on the antenna. I've got an 8' fiberglass on a stainless lay down mount in my 16' boat, mounted at the back corner, on the average day, I can easily go 12 miles, 20km. The radio mentioned above and most all newer ones have to pass the basic testing before they are certified for use. If you have GPS in the boat, get a model radio with DSC that you can interface your GPS, when in trouble hit one button and your location is automatically sent to CGC. Another store is Durham Radio in Whitby.
  6. You make assumptions when in fact you should be going and doing some research and find out how long ago the rules regarding approved colours were changed.
  7. FnA, yes I know that part, I've never heard of the "after 24 hrs you can't file a claim" we used to get people coming in 2,3,7 days after the fact, a real pain.
  8. Honestly, I know one of the guys in our club, he used to run a couple of boats in Meaford, he's moved his kit to Lake Ontario. If you want salmon from Georgian Bay, go to the closest Sobeys or IGA.
  9. Kindly inform us where this is written, black and white, not my brothers aunt said, please.
  10. Ya, right, the first thing I'd recommend to my enemies, make sure they don't make it to the fight.
  11. Are you talking about Georgian Bay Fish Camp in the Bustard Islands, if so, we did that place back in the mid 80's. Have to scratch a bit and think..Dave Bulger ring a bell?
  12. A short time like that wouldn't be bad, still enough residual oil on the parts, however, don't leave it sitting for long, moist humid air like the crud we are experiencing will badly corrode metal like gears and bearings. Glad you got it fixed, after a couple of hours of running do another check to make sure that was the problem.
  13. Start the car..Start the car..
  14. An engine that revs up just before quitting exhibits a lean run, either by crud in the low speed circuit,(dirt, gum, varnish)that requires cleaning and a Seafoam treat and/or sucking air through a hose leak. Big Question, does the rubber gas line from the tank and primer bulb stay full of gas or do you have to pump it up again? Check the "o" rings on either end of the rubber hose, some have them and they get brittle and crack.
  15. Oh ya, that would make my day..
  16. Okay what is this, the 3 Barrie Musketeers arguing who's closer, anyway, looked at some of the on line prices, unlikely I'll leave any money there.
  17. Another sad ending. When will they learn, usually when it's too late and then it will be a reminder forever for those involved.
  18. Shakers taste better, nice catch..
  19. Why not ask how many voted Lieberal in the last election by a show of hands up.. or do you suspect there's going to be a lot of people with short arms right now.
  20. Ya, it was a nuthouse at all 3 pumps in town today, Mac's ran out before lunch, No frills ran out of regular and sold the mid/premium at regular cost and the Pedrocan was lined up out to the road all day.
  21. Randy, that's NOT a 220V AC plug, it's a 30A 120V AC plug, if you do ever get a plug wired for your trailer at home, check the voltage, there's far too many "electricians" that have fried trailers and their electronics inside. I have a Honda 3K, no problem for it to run the air, however bear in mind that if you run the air, the toaster, the coffee pot, the curling iron, all high wattage items, poof there goes the circuit breaker. Your basic 3.5K(3500) will run the A/C and one, maybe two other appliances at the same time. I can run my coffee pot and the microwave at the same time, no trouble, ya just have to pay a bit of attention. Careful of the off brand gennies, hard to find parts for them
  22. First time in the bush can give them some scents they've never encountered before and as much as you say they may be well trained and don't wander, I'd be a little more inclined to keep them on a line of some sort. Easier to reel them in than go looking for one that has decided to roam and get into trouble.
  23. Yes, keep an eye west of you, it's moving East at a pretty good clip and showing nasty on the King City radar.
