  1. Funny how people state "leafs aren't getting McDavid", with no intelligent regard for statistics or probability. It is highly unlikely the leafs get McDavid (fixed). But then it's unlikely for any bottom 5 team to get him, even the bottom team (whose odds max out at 20%). Nobody is betting their life savings on 1/5 odds, unless they are crazy
  2. My guess is the general negativity that usually encompasses responses to reports, whether its "general locations" hot baits, pics that don't blur backgrounds blah blah blah. Look back 2 or 3 years in the archives and there's quite a few locked report threads where discussions turned nasty. I for one agree with you Mike, I used to love read reports here but it certainly not because reporters are getting lazy... I recall several times where someone has stated "I will never post another report here ever again". Looks like they were true to their word.
  3. Well at the beginning of this hard water season I had four goals: 1. Catch my first laker (check!!) 2. Land another Quinte 10lb hog (check!) 3. Ice a whitefish 4. Catch a Ling (aka burbot) After getting some great advice on laker tackle I managed to ice my first laker today. What. A. Blast!! I'm already planning my next trip Now, drivin home my thoughts shifted to two species that have always evaded me: whities and ling. The frustrating part of this is that I taegetted whitefish today with meegs+tube and a small silver\blue Williams Spoon, only to have many sonar hits but no takers. - do whitefish only hit on the bottom? -should I be jiggin light, gentle 6" jigging motions? - how can I 'play' a whitefish once they are on sonar? For ling, Ive heard they are a Nocturnal species, meaning night is best. - is there a bait of choice? - will they regularly hit laker/whitefish tackle? - are they found on the same grounds as lakers/whities? All tips/advice is GREATLY appreciated, I always pay it forward
  4. Got a lx9 for Christmas from the wifey and I love it... Tons of fun
  5. Great production value here! You take ice fishing vids to a new level , thx for sharing it
  6. I had an aqua vu 760cz which I really liked. It's tons of fun to play with... But as others have mentioned it has limitations. In addition to visibility, keep in mind that it may spook fish (especially the LED lights) depending on the species.. I've never noticed a perch or pike take notice of it, but I think it spooks walleyes and maybe other species too. Maybe it's just my superstition though. I'm curious what other people think about whether or not it spooks some species of fish. Either way I sold my Aqua vu camera this year when I unwrapped a marcum lx9 (flasher + camera) this year :)
  7. We noticed that the blackfies were just starting to decline. Line another poster mentioned, I'd give em 2 weeks and then they will be mostly gone. The mosquito's were just horrible though. I came across this somewhere on the internet. Its a DIY project for a mosquito trap. I'd be interested in giving it a shot since we already run a solar system that I could easily access. http://youtu.be/pU2kbghz85I Basically, use a powerful barrel fan with a mess covering the intake. Certainly not a new concept but I can see it possibly being able to put a dent in population that is near your place. Do you guys think this could work?
  8. Thanks a lot for the opinions, guys. Gonna go with 8lb nano and judge for myself if it lives up to the hype, its all about finding confidence in your gear anyway. Hopefully, I'll have a few pics to post soon, both pin and fly.
  9. Thanks for the insight Bill. I might try nano since lots of people are talking about it. How do you like it for long drifts, does it float as well as mono? What are the other advantages to it?
  10. Hey OFC, 3 years ago I declared that I would never float fish again. Having had lots of success on the fly, and having been gifted a gorgeous Abel 7-8 fly reel, I thought the idea of centerpinning again was ludicrous. Well here I am eager to float fish again but I find myself "out of the loop" on advances to mono and main line float options. So, what are your main lines of choice on a centerpin? Hi Vis vs traditional? Mono vs "superlines"? what the hell is copolymer? I should mention I pinned a ton before I took up fly fishing and I used to love Moss-green 8 lb Gamma Mono... but its discontinued. A similar line would be great. Also, I am looking to put to add a flash of blue colour to my reel using blue backing. I Know centerpinangling.com carries it, but does anyone know of a store that sells it that isn't an online store? Cheers, excited to start posting reports again (where did all the reports go?)
  11. Hey Bill, glad you made this topic so I'll chime in with my pick. The best stouts I've had have been from the US, but my favourite local pick is from Hockley Valley microbrew. They make a few varieties that are a little different but the stouts are my favourite. Anyone else try/enjoy em?
  12. The underwater footage was with your gopro right? How did u rig it? Did you weight it underneath to keep the cam steady? Thx!
  13. I am mortified how this kids has been portayed in the media: as some sort of innocent angel horrendously gunned down by a renegade cop. Do we need reminding that this was a derranged criminal? Facts about the case may be blurry, but I can't remember the last time that Canadians sided so eagerly with a knife wielding lunatic. The cops actions will come under trial. His actions were clearly not "according to the manual"... but can we please stop placing sympathy towards the death of a knife-wielding individual? I hate how the media shows a cute innocent picture of the "kid" instead of a recent, and realistic picture. Let's see how some of you react the next time someone pulls a knife on your daugher, or your wife, on public transit. This board sickens me sometimes.
  14. These are great shots bill! My fav is the first one -- mind posting the exif data for it?
  15. This false dichotomy is rediculous. Public executions vs. "letting them walk",?? I seriously doubt some of you have anything past an eight grade education. Let reason prevail. Let the invesigators investigate. Save the fear-mongering and speculation for a forum that endorses that kind of tripe. Some of what has been said here makes me sick.
