  1. To all of you that sent your condolences, my family expresses many heartfelt thanks for your support..Fisherman/Erich.
  2. Well today was the day, like many before, I got that call that pretty much emotionally cripples you. After almost 93 years on this globe, nature has taken our mother. In the last couple weeks her physical condition was deteriorating and the fine nurses at the old folks home gave my brother and I the nod that it was coming. Fortunately, she still had her wits about her and quite coherent. My thanks for making it a pleasant stay at the Guildwood Nursing home go to the fine staff and, to my only and older brother who for many, many years and countless hours, took care of Mom both at home and gave her the extra quality of life in her last years at the nursing home. Mothers aren't forever, go visit yours soon.
  3. Ya, well if you're going to do as the platoon of wise guys above, at least go to the effort of removing the tag on the tongue or file off the old numbers if they were stamped in, cause then if you get pulled over and the fuzz compares VIN/RIN on the paper to the trailer, your rearward "O" ring might not pucker as much.
  4. Make sure it's bone dry and clean before you glue it, I'd use 3M 4200/5200. What size fuse is recommended for the bilge pump? That's the one to use, I suspect a 5amp, although a 10 won't hurt.
  5. I have one on my present 25 and had one on my 7.5, they definitely stop the flopping around, for the price, I believe they save your equipment.
  6. What about a small trailer? Saves the back.
  7. Seafoam as per the recomendation on the can, cleans it out and keeps it clean.
  8. When you bait your trap, wrap the dog kibble or bread in nylon mesh, same stuff you use for making roe bags, that way the small pieces won't fall out.
  9. What said and check all the other wires from the ignition block back to the motor.
  10. All of Scotty electrics have the auto stop, all tilt up and with the swivel base, it doesn't get much better. And the nice thing, they're made in Canada so you support our industry.
  11. Scotty, my first electric is now 14-15 years old, no problem, and I got a second hand electric Scotty that predates that one by "a few years" and it works just as well.
  12. Nope, mines a 16' aluminum, carpet provides a fair bit of friction, don't you remember red knees and elbows from boinky boinky in the rec room. One little tap on the brake while backing into the water and the boat slides right off, and a whole lot less cranking effort when retrieving.
  13. Not ragging on you, but really take a look at the videos again without any background distraction. The variables you speak of are also subject to the same increases, so not a lot gained.
  14. Use clear cedar, no knots and no need to treating it with varnish, that keeps moisture in as much as out. Cedar has its own natural preservative. Carpet if you wish, I used the UHNW Glyde Stiks to make the boat slide on and off easier.
  15. You're right about that, they build up sooo much pressure it causes them to keep talking and gossiping allll the time, at least guys have to take a breath now and then....touche.
  16. If you have an old beer fridge or understanding wife, then no problem, cool&damp, not wet, is the most important. If you can find the worm bedding that could be bought at CTC, (schredded newspaper), mixed with water and drained, it will keep and nourish worms for the whole summer. I used t pick about 20 dozen in the spring at the local golf course, never had any go bad.
  17. Go to the pharmacy, get a pair of blue latex gloves so you don't get your pinkies dirty, next, get the appropriate length and diameter cord. Get out the tools and get busy doing a mans job, tinker with the recoil and probably save $100.
  18. Don't forget that you need(rule) a second person in the boat to act as the safety person looking back.
  19. Most if not all of the inverters sold at CTC are junk, bought a couple, had to keep returning them, a 100watt MSW inverter wouldn't even power a 9 watt bulb. I picked up a 300W GP inverter for $150, pure sine wave, 2 year no questions asked warranty, MSW inverters are not that great for electronics.
  20. That would fly but, when she comes out of Ikea and you have to "start the car", do you go over to Cabelas and she has to "start the car" 'cause you both made off like bandits.
  21. I would hope that if they build in Ontario that it's north of Toronto, like around Barrie, save me the trip in that retarded traffic to BPro. I'm sure there's enough customers in the area that would oblige.
  22. Are you using marine epoxy or polyester resin? Big difference. Epoxies will give you a cure time on the container, anywhere from 5 minutes to 24 hours. Resin on the other hand can go from 10 minutes(like auto bondo) to an hour or more, depending on mix, humidity and temperature.
  23. Unless your fuel pump is before the primer bulb, it will not stay real stiff. Mine gets pumped up a bit and then the motor fuel pump takes over and draws the gas from the tank. The rest of the time it's quite soft.
  24. The vent has to be open, air replaces the gas as it is used otherwise you'll have a vacuum in there.
  25. Princess Auto carries C/B's from 20-50A or the large Maxi fuses from 20-70A. They also have C/B's that fit into the same place that fuses go. From $3.99 for either.
