  1. Get a couple of pieces of 1inch thick pink styrofoam, they go on the ice first, then the 4x4 or 2x4 blocks. The styrofoam is the heat break, it really slows down the sinking process. In case you're worried that it will compress, it doesn't unless your hut weighs a ton.
  2. Woodenboater: If you live in the GTA, then what is the greater GTA?
  3. Too bad Woody's gone. I suppose another spot is Pelican Lk, tried it a few times and got some decent sized perch. Only bad thing is it's only about 7-10 feet deep and the ice is 4 of that.
  4. Well I spent 4 years there back in the early '90's. You can go ice fishing at Rivers, MB, about a 40 minute drive from Shilo. Go to Brandon, north on #10 and then west on #23(if memory serves right) takes you right into the town. There's access through the park in town or from the other side, ask anyone around there, they know. Big thing, crimp your hooks, otherwise it will cost you. The CO is out there a lot. Rivers, has perch, walleye, ling and pike, some good size ones. I pulled a 30" walleye out of there. Minnows is the bait of choice, I don't know if "Woody" on highway 10 is still in business. Bring a gas auger..with an extension, I had a couple winters with over 4 feet under the hut. There's another little hole called Elgin Reservoir about 40 minutes south of Brandon, it was stocked with walleye. Good luck.
  5. You can buy the spring setup with the hitch at Royal distributing for $29.
  6. Never, by the next weekend there'd be a million more out there, at the now not so secret place. Secrets aren't if you tell.
  7. Ya, should be there and devour the good burgers.
  8. Well if you ever get evicted(just saying), from your condo, you'll be taking a step up..just figger out how to glue everything together..
  9. Be sure to take the engine serial number and model number when you go. They are usually on a tag or stamped into the shroud.
  10. Go see any small engine shop, they will have the big manual of parts and can order it for you.
  11. Long term lease eh? Problem is, what's the buy out..
  12. Okay, then it's a good deal, when I looked at their website it showed the short model. I guess I'll have to switch the bait..
  13. I dunno but somethings not right, the picture they show is a jacket not the longer MC1525 coat. Maybe a switch and bait.
  14. Just as I'm leaving, ding dong, damm plug can't read the Queens english, NO soliciting, peddling or agents. There he is with his little plastic neck tag and the clipboard, Ontario Energy. We're going around the neighbourhood to exchange water heaters. Sorry I own mine, buzz off. But, but, we have a good deal here, sure you do, go to Sears and buy me another one. I bought mine about 10 years ago, runs fine and I'm not paying well over $200 a year in rental. Make sure you warn Granny and Grandpa if they're susceptable to these crows. Maybe warn a couple of the other feeble minded ones too.
  15. Been there, done that in Wainwright,AB, -48C. Back in the day we used the charcoal stick pocket warmers in the bottom of the sleeping bag. I'll bet that a couple of the big foot warmers inside the bag will do the trick, some last for 12 hours.
  16. You can build Fort Knox around it, put a muffler from a Terex Titan on it..no difference, it's in the design of the motor etc that makes the difference. Many have tried, you can read it on the RV forums, everything from sound proofing material, offset venting with fans to prevent overheating, etc. You either buy a Honda or Yamaha.
  17. If you know anyone that border shops, have them pick one up for 1/2 price, my Honda 2000 was $845 in Detroit, $1799 here.
  18. Unfortunately they get to vote and have kids that pass on recessive genes.
  19. Insert 2 bone chicken wing into mouth while holding the bigger end. Close lips/teeth/choppers, extract chicken bones with no meat on them.
  20. Just me but after looking at those photos, I'd be looking at having the whole inside lower end checked for damage.
  21. It's better to look like Bib the Michelin man than talking with a falsetto voice due to crotchular shortness. Lot easier to go for a wizz too.
  22. Last I saw George just around Christmas, he and his buddy were sitting beside the Barrie marina gas pumps just killing the perch. Give him a call, 705 727 0446.
  23. Very nice Roy, no more scrolling required.
