  1. The dog may have saved his life as the breed does not back down. But had it of been a different breed of dog you bet he would come running back to the owner once the bear has had enough of it and started chasing the dog. So now you are luring the bear towards you. Unless the dog is highly trained, I would be keeping it on the leash. Heck I'm not even bringing my lab up north anymore after witnessing her getting eaten alive by mosquitos.
  2. When I was calling around for a cover, I was told Top Gun is the most durable material.
  3. Canadian Tire will load test it for you for free. It sounds like it won't hold a charge and is pooched.
  4. Oh the good old days of walking around the neighbourhood picking worms off people's lawns and flower beds.
  5. A good way to test if the line is slipping on the spool is to let out alot of the line, and then simply pull on it. If you don't hear the drag, then you know the line is slipping.
  6. You sure the line is not slipping on the spool?
  7. I am rather suprised at how many guys use loading guides. I keep my front roller slightly out of the water and line up the centre of the bow with the centre of the front roller and drive the boat right on. The bunks are only halfway in the water. It can get a little tricky with a chop but if your not lined up right just back up and try again. I could see this being easier with a tiller (which mine is) than a console. I got guys starring at me all the time at the launch thinking they are going to witness a youtube moment
  8. Sounds like the higher ups think it may be a good thing for business. I bet most would do the same if it meant increasing the odds of lining their pockets thicker.
  9. Customer service is a big component of a successful company, especially in todays competitive market. Good to see and hear that alot of companies have jumped ship. Buying a rod that comes with lifetime warranty is well worth the investment especially in the long term. I bought a 50$ Compre in a sale bin and broke 2 already and had them replaced with no issues.
  10. Doesn't seem to want to end I guess. Called a lodge in Nakina and they got 8" earlier this week.
  11. I have been using 1 deep cycle interstate battery to run my fishfinder, start the motor and trolling motor for the past 5 years. When I checked the water levels they did not deplete at all.
  12. I am really starting to get annoyed with all the saltwater fishing shows. It seems there is no variety. Either bass or saltwater fishing.
  13. Your experience sounds positive, but what were to happen if the bear was not having it and decided to pursue the dog. A dog which will more than likely run back to you for protection and in return exposing you to danger. Having a dog on a leash with you is better as the barking will more than likely annoy the bear causing it to leave.
  14. I recently had my bathroom renovated. Best advice I can give you to save money is start keeping an eye out for all the stuff you need now and keep an eye on sales. Follow the Rona, Lowe's and Home Depot flyer weekly and you will find everything you are looking for at a discounted price (assuming time is not of the essence). Buying everything at once will ensure you will spend the max.
  15. ROFL. I am suprised you didn't hear chuckles after releasing the first bomb, or foot steps due to evacuation
  16. Herd about this in the morning on the radio. Could of turned out much worse, happy it ended the way it did.
  17. Kevin & Leslie: It has been an honour over the years to stay at your lodge. Best of luck with the sale. So sorry to hear about your diagnosis Kevin. Ned
  18. Fuel economy is nothing special on the Taureg TDI. I had one for about a week and pulled my light 1200lb ish rig and I got about 13L/100km on relatively flat terrain. My 96 4Runner gets about the same.
  19. About 15 years ago I caught an eel at Bronte and I still remember to this day the fight that thing gave me. All spectators figured it was a salmon judging by the fight.
  20. For those worried about gaining weight, they say that the effects smoking has on your body is just as bad as gaining 100lbs. Get yourself a dog and then you will be forced to walk and exercise daily.
  21. Cold turkey is best. For cravings buy yourself a tub of sugar free candies and munch away to keep you busy. Don't drink for a few weeks either as cravings will only increase.
  22. Try www.kanetix.ca and see what kind of quotes you get there. Its hard to find much better than what is on that site from my experiences. I lucked out and qualified for TD Meloche Monnex group insurance. They can't be touched for their prices IMO. If his moving address is Toronto then that is part of the problem too. People in TO pay quite a bit more than folks in other areas. It will also help if your son books and acquires his G license ASAP. I believe he has to wait a year from when he gets his G2 to qualify to take the test. The spots get booked up quick so I would book exactly a year from the date he gets his G2. Buying an older vehicle will help as well if you insure it with only liability. Hope this helps. Alot of people I know left State Farm because they doubled their rates for no reason. I would be weiry.
  23. Most obviously don't know this, but it is illegal for anybody but a certified mechanic to change brakes
  24. Given where you live I would not cheap out, you will thank yourself if you go to sell, especially if the rest of your living space is nice. I went all out on my bathroom sparing no expense, but I did save quite a bit of money because I shopped around and got quotes. Don't allow the contractor to supply you your fixtures, toilet, tub, tiles and sink(s) they are pocketing extra money here. Start keeping an eye out on the weekly flyers from Home Depot, Rona, Lowe's and pick things up as they appeal to you when on sale. www.faucetdirect.com has good prices as well that you can compare to or order from (even after shipping is taken into consideration). After my reno I asked myself why I am not a tiler for a living as he charged me 1300$ (other quotes were even higher)for a 5x11 floor and L cove shower surround. 5 hours of work over two days Let me know if your looking for a quality contractor.
