  1. I charge after each use. If im staying at a lodge, I plug in as soon as I return from morning fish. Got like 6 years out of my Interstate deep cycle and I only run 1 so it had hard use. Can't count how many times I totally depleted the battery too, I would have gotten longer life if it wasn't for that.
  2. the hoser: thats because they didn't use marine plywood. I payed 145+tax for a 3/4" sheet of meranti and I needed 3. Its quickly understood why most opt for traditional plywood. It is certainly not cheap to do it properly. My boat is a 14' and I'm already in about 1200$ just for the floor alone.
  3. Im re-doing my boat as we speak. I went to Noah's Marine in Etobicoke to buy basically everything. They have a grey marine grade carpet that comes in 8' widths. I believe 17' cost me around 250$ ish. They also sell the marine specific glue you need. I tried to cheap out at Home Depot on the glue, but some of them actually say "not for marine use" on the containers so I didn't want to risk it. I needed a gallon which was about 70$, you will need more though as your boat is a 17', mines 14'. Ensure you use stainless screws as well if they already havent been used. Did I forget to mention their expensive as hell? mounting 3 seats with stainless nuts and bolts ran me 70$. Home Hardware I found to be cheaper than Home Depot for stainless screws. If your going to staple as well, again stainless staples. If you go in there talk to the younger Pakistani/Indian guy, the rest of them are useless and will point you to a needle in a hay stack as opposed to lead you to what you need.
  4. I am changing the floor on my aluminum boat and am still on the fence whether or not I need to epoxy/seal the Meranti plywood before laying it down. Are these expoxy's/sealers safe when in contact with aluminum? If recommended, any particular brand I should be using and where can I buy it? The boat is a trailer boat so it will be exposed to the elements. I did notice a couple small areas on the aluminum framing has some surface rust. Do these surface rust spots just need to be sanded off or is more required?
  5. The Terrova has additional features that i don't think the PowerDrive does. For example, spot lock (anchor feature), re-navigating a predetermined path and iPilot capabilities. IMO, the anchor feature is worth its money in gold. Alot of the guys that have the Terrova on this forum are very pleased from what I have read. I am hoping to add one to my arsenal for next season.
  6. http://www.pneusarabais.com/en was cheaper than tirerack in my experiences. Give it a shot.
  7. Real wheels spin, especially when the ramp is already wet. My rig is approx 1500lbs with trailer.
  8. I have a 4Runner where I can engage and disengage the 4x4 as required. Of all the times I forgot to engage 4x4 when pulling the boat out I find that I have never been able to pull the boat out in 2wd. However, I would imagine though that partially deflating the rear tires would help with traction when in 2wd.
  9. Maybe you have a faulty kill switch? You can try disconnecting the black/yellow wire that runs into the powerpack (the kill wire) to isolate the lanyard and stop switches. I would certainly do this and not just replace the switch. Start/stop switch cost me $200 for my 96 Evinrude.
  10. Any Henckels knife is a good quality knife.
  11. Thanks for the report Mike. I never knew the MNR could interrogate you regarding booze, thought that was only OPP. I wonder what they'd do if there was booze in the coffee thermos, take you away with them in the plane?
  12. Yep, the heat from welding will melt them was what I was told.
  13. Some very good advice above. Like others, most of my fishing is done in narrows lindy rigging. Set your trolling motor to the slowest speed possible that will keep the boat moving. White, orange and pink are my go to jig colours, white being the preferred. Good luck.
  14. I asked a guy at the Shell station last week and he said v-power has ethanol. He also went on to say how he has been working for Shell stations for 20 years and they always have had ethanol in v-power. The pump has no sticker saying no ethanol.
  15. 6' St Croix Avid ML fast action. Medium is too stiff for jigging in my opinion (when jigging away from weeds). It is best kept for ripping bucktail jigs through weeds.
  16. LED or plasma should come down to light levels in the room as Raf mentioned. Plasma shows glare in well lit rooms, especially rooms with alot of natural light. Other things to consider is the heat that the plasma gives off, which is not a good thing in the summer. I also vouch to purchase a TV at Costco. I have a premium membership and when I bought my Sony Bravia I got 3 years warranty included with no additional cost. Their pricing is usually the cheapest around as well for electronics. If price of TV changes in 90 days, they will also reimburse the difference. Not sure how big of a rush your in but when I hit Costco next time I can take a few pics of what they got for you. Send me a PM if I can help. i would need to know the size and type (plasma/lcd/led) of TV to look for.
  17. I'm curious, why do you freeze the fish in water? Are the fillets fully submersed in water?
  18. Select pharmacies sell syringes too. The steroid freaks used to come in all the time at the ex's pharmacy to buy them.
  19. Not aware of any particular websites, other than the obvious like kijiji. I noticed alot of trailer parks websites also have listings in them. The approach I would take is narrowing it down to what lake(s) you want to be on, then you simply search trailer park and the lake name on google. That should turn up majority of parks on the lake. If you can, pick a park that is centrally located so you have good access to the lake. Edited to add: keep looking on kijiji daily. Now is the best time to look as some people may not be renewing their seasonal fee for next year and will be looking to sell. There is some haggle room when this is the case as they are desperate to sell so they don't have to remove the trailer from the site and or pay another year seasonal fee.
  20. You won't get waterfront for that cost. Like mentioned above, the regulars of the park will get the waterfront site. The only way I can see you getting waterfront is if you buy a trailer that is already on a site. In the Kawarthas, I have seen/herd figures of 5-6k for waterfront. I settled for lakeview for a fraction of what you are willing to pay. Make sure that the park agrees to face the trailer in the direction you prefer prior to settling on a deal. I had a nightmare with this as the guy behind me was not impressed that my trailer was partially obstructing his lakeview.
  21. For 50$ I would be willing to bet you could rent a Uhaul pickup truck and tow it. Look into it. Its 20$+ mileage. Doesn't sound like you need to go far.
  22. I have usually concentrated on the area just before the transition from the steel wall to concrete wall and have done decent for the cats in particular.
