  1. Not sure how much you are willing to spend, but I would be going to St Marten (especially if you plan to spend big bucks on a ring). You can get a vacation out of it for free compared to how much you pay for the equivalent here. From what I have herd, amazing deals can be had by simply going to a bank.
  2. I have seen Advanced's work at fishing shows and they are phenominal.
  3. Bought my trailer new approx 4-5 years ago and have not raised it in off season and no issues.
  4. Pretty impressive bud. The first thing that came to mind when I read your above post is a video I saw on youtube called "do you smoke". Make sure you got your speakers on. I am positive your car is capable of doing that given the specs you list above . Search it up on youtube and report back with your thoughts, its worth your time if your up for a laugh . Sorry, Youtube is blocked at work so I can't provide a link. How has it held up with all that power? It must RIP.
  5. Currently own a 98, drove dads 2000/2001 and 2004 when I was a youngster. Getting into a 2013 in 3 weeks. Never towed with any of them. What size of boat are you towing? I am tempted to throw a hitch on my new Passat when I get it but I know insurance wouldn't cover me if something happened as tow rating would be exceeded. Something you should think about too if your rig is over 1000lb
  6. Powerful low end but gutless top end. Can't have it all I suppose. Not that its a wise thing to do, but I once spoke to a fella at Lakair that towed his 16' lund with 40-60hp with a Golf TDI and he said it had no issues going up the mountainous terrain of Hwy 69.
  7. Bill and Gino: you will be delighted to know my mechanic has seen those MK4 TDI's with over a million km. I searched long and hard for one in good condition, but they were non existant and I'm sure its for a reason. My MK3 has to be replaced due to the holes in the floor. 363km and going strong.
  8. IMO, it is well known nowadays that Toyota is one of the most reliable car makers. Just if they could make them sip less gas.
  9. Waiting for the punks who cause trouble on "Devil's night"? I warned my girlfriend not to leave the pumpkins on the porch. The next day I found them smashed on the trunk of my car. I laughed it off and remembered my younger days when I used to cause havoc. I seem to have an incident every year up to and including getting egged while driving and having my window open just enough to get egg on my face
  10. Indoor convenience will cost you unfortunately. I would look for an outdoor storage place that will allow you to rent a spot for a month and use their hydro to run your power tools and do the work there. If you hurry up, you still have nice weather so take advantage. I'm assuming you already keep the boat outdoors so you must have some sort of cover for it to cover it up when your not working on it. Working on it at the location you currently keep it is not an option?
  11. I got one on order. Its about $2500 difference between a manual gas and manual diesel. I would imagine the diesel is a little more preppy than the 2.5L gas as well. Not sure how valid the claim is but people have gotten 1600ish km on a tank from the new passat tdi. Speaking with the service manager (after my car was a done deal) he said one couple went to PEI and got 1700km on a tank. I looked long and hard, any other car in its class is either more money or the same amount of money. The 0% financing craze has people blinded. Look at the actual price of the car, they have inflated it to include 0% financing .
  12. No, I'm fortunate enough to have a car that filters the air for me before I breathe it in
  13. Pork has got to be the worst thing you can put in your stomach. I ate alot of it when I was younger and unaware of how dirty the meat really is. Nowadays I can count on my fingers how many times I eat pork in a year. Eating beef frequently is no better either. Most don't know that butchers are told to cut out tomours out of AAA meat and continue cutting the steaks. Sorry to ruin your appetite.
  14. Seeing as we both live in the creek, you would have to agree the "Junkieville" border begins west of Lake Ave.
  15. Man I guess were not giving him a good impression of Hamilton guys . Everybody thinks their Tony Montana nowadays; but if you follow my rule above, you will be okay even if someone does consider you a pudy cat .
  16. Thanks for the prompt response. Those guys want 150$ per sample. From what I have read they only pay like 20$ in the US
  17. My cousin is renovating his house and I have concerns regarding some of the materials used in the house. All I was able to find was asbestos renovation companies that send out the sample to be tested. I don't really want to pay for a middle man to send a sample to a lab, nor do I trust them as they could easily say it has asbestos just so they can do the work. Does anybody know of a lab that strictly does testing in the Hamilton or surrounding area where I can take a sample to get tested? The material of concern is vinyl floor, linoleum tile and plaster used for walls. House was built about 60-70 years ago. The "middle man" place says they want $50 per sample and for the flooring they have to analyse the adhesive used and the flooring material itself, which is 2 separate tests for each type of floor.
  18. Main Billiard Lounge at 1101 Main St E, Hamilton, ON L8M 1N7 (905) 545-4155. Not sure if they have the shuffleboard table. Its been a while since I have been there, but I'm pretty sure they sell beer in there too. You might see some punks there given the area. Keep your mouth shut and don't stare and all will be well. Enjoy.
  19. I have broken 2 med-light fast action compre's on snags. But I was really horsing the rod to try and get my lure back. Doesn't help that 10lb PP is pretty difficult to snap either. My experiences have been good, no complaints.
  20. From what I have gathered here over the years, opinions constantly change on the best way to charge a battery. I have an Interstate warehouse near my house, and I asked the question to one of the employees who has worked with batteries for over 20 years. He advised me that the CTEK is the best battery charger you could use to charge a deep cycle. I have had my Interstate deep cycle now for 4-5 years and only run one battery for motor, trolling motor and fish finder and the battery has held up fine. I have not had to add any distilled water, it does not lose its charge over the winter and I do take the time to charge it promptly after every use.
  21. I bet F7firecat has a solution for this. PM him if he doesn't chime in.
  22. What he said. I looked into re-apolstering my boat seats but after getting a few quotes decided it wasn't worth it. Keep in mind your cushions are more than likely worn out and don't offer the same support new seats would. I highly recommend Attwood seats. I believe I bought mine from Iboats.
  23. Good work Jim
  24. Went last Friday and it was BRUTAL low. I arrived with my boat and didnt even bother trying to launch the boat. A monster truck would be required. Never saw it like this before. From my experiences, water levels have always been consistant in previous years. Our area got pelted pretty good this week with rain, wonder if Campelville got the same. Unless your using a canoe or a small boat that you can carry to the water, don't bother.
  25. I tow with a 96 4Runner. When fully loaded up with full camping gear and boat it could use a few more hp but I ain't complaining getting 13L/100 km towing 2500-3000lb.
