  1. Good to hear Cliff I am sure you both will be happy with your new Toyota. Art
  2. Look at a washing machine box they come in a few different sizes and the lip edge will look good. Art
  3. We have chain pickerel in Virginia in selected water basins. It is about the furthest South I have heard of them being without special help from man or spring fed. Art
  4. Down here it is not the flies or skeeters we have to contend with it is the Gnats that swarm over your head and bite. The bite doesn't do anything after the pinch/pain at the time of the bite but you can get literally 10 per min. at the wrong time. Art
  5. The deposits are mineral based so you need a weak acid to get rid of them. Look in the bathcleaner section for lime removal products. Remember to wipe and rinse frequently and test before you go wild. I use CLR to restore my 150 evinrude and then an epoxy based motor paint to get rid of the cavitation burns. Art
  6. If you are able to put $1500 aside for repairs and you don't have one in 4 years you get to spend the $1500 on whatever you want. If you buy the warranty and you don't have an issue you are out $1500. Art
  7. The local car stereo installer shop might have what you need. Unfortunately I have what you need but the drive back and forth will cost to much. lol
  8. It is not so much that it is over insured it is making sure you have the correct insurance and enough insurance to cover the situation when you make a claim. In most cases homeowner insurance does not cover tackle stored in the boat or if the boat is stored off site such as a marina. They also do not cover any items removed from a commercial use vehicle. The best way to know if what you have is correct is sit down with the agent till you have answers to all of your questions because knowing "before" a claim is the best way to purchase the correct type/amount of insurance. 9. I have tackle riders on the boats. It will replace up to $5,000.oo per incident. The company is US Boats so I am not sure it will help you up North. Art
  10. Nice day of fishing but the price of 1600 stones is just to high.lol Art
  11. Sorry over the line link broken. Feel free to share it in P.M.s Art
  12. You have a hot wire touching a circuit that is in a loop ground configuration. Unplug the wires after marking them from one switch at a time and isolate the terminals with tape. Use an amp meter between the positive terminal inline with the power feedline and when you disconnect the fault the amp draw will drop to zero. Isolate the circuit and test for a grounded wire. Any false grounds need to be repaired and then the circuit retested after being hooked up again for amp draw. Switches are the place to start so ohm them out before going after the wire harness. Art
  13. The paint will cause the barb on the hook to be ineffective. You can try using a red sharpie it is thin enough it would not affect the hook do it's job. Personally I would add a slash of red to the lure before I would tint the hooks. Art
  14. Dave I have used lots of lures over the years and some are left forgotten in the stack of boxes never to fulfill the promises they lured me in with. I have assembled a bag that is my grab and go bag and it has lures that are time proven for different styles of fishing. The bass bag has an assortment of lures from topwater to dragging worms that will produce all year long at a local private lake. The topwater lures are the green frog and the mouse from live target. The crawfish lure is very productive used in a jigging manner and it has a vertical fall that drives the fish nuts. I recently added a new lure made by mega bass that is a topwater that has an action that is awesome. It is expensive though but check Ebay some of the sellers seem to get them at a reduced price. My spinnerbait selection is mainly white and chrome since it seems to be the prefered color. I round out the mid level of the water column with the white bandit 4-6ft model. The bottom is shakey rigs with senco's and 10 inch worms. While there are many different lures to fall in love with you will find the few ones that are must haves and the live target is one of them in my book. Art
  15. I have tried others but they don't have the same wiggle. Sorry to say. Art
  16. The auto fill units asking for a leak and acid damage..... Manual checking will also alert you to an issue before it starts a fire or worse. Art
  17. The secret to the question is what is the transmission temperature. Keeping it below 210 degrees will prevent the fluids from becoming acidic/breaking down and damaging the transmission. A truck with the tow package has a tran and oil cooler along with a few other goodies to keep the load in check. I run a 2012 ecoboost 12 hours straight doing 75 mph with a 20ft Ranger and a weeks worth of gear without an issue reaching 198 F degrees in the mountains. My Titan was at 210 and I had to lock out overdrive before I even got close to the mountains and it did not have a tow package. Art
  18. Talk to the dealer about a prop loaner program or sign in to iboats.com and do a search they have answered this question sucessfully in the past. Art
  19. Sorry I installed the rod buckles and after 5 years they are working fine. The cutting is easy and since you are installing a quality product you should not have to worry about what to do with the future holes. Art
  20. Since all of the good places to get bit have been covered. I HATE it when you are drifting off to sleep and there is one stupid mosquito that makes a run at your ear and the buzzing noise gets really loud and then quiet. Art
  21. Tilted and use a transom saver. You are going from a shearing force ( very strong) with the motor straight up and down to a fulcrum force with a levered advantage. Art
  22. You usually trailer with the motor up on it's blocks to prevent the skeg and lower end from bottoming out. I use a transom saver always even the boat that is a jet drive that is level with the bottom of the boat. The motors are a 60 hp and a 150 hp so it is needed. A 9.9 straight up and down tied off from swinging does not put much of a load on the transom. Art
  23. The rod is about this long with a handle on one end and rings that go from above the reel to the tip. The reel is hard to describe since it was a very special present from my dear departed wife. I just get to choked up to describe it (sniff dude) and further. Please send it home to me at your expense since it will cost an arm and a leg to get it to the USA. Thank you my good man Art
