  1. Does the old VIN have to be removed before doing this or afterwords?
  2. Bit of a weird one here. I just sold my old boat as I bought a new used one. Turns out that the VIN# on the ownership for the trailer does not match the VIN# on the trailer itself. When I registered the trailer I just took the ownership given to me to service canada and they gave me plates for it. I never thought to check the VIN#'s to see if they matched. I did a lein search on the boat before buying and everything came back legit with the current owners being correct. Any ideas on what I or the new owner have to do to clear this up? Thanks
  3. Turned out it was a fuse. There were 2, 32 amp fuses back near the battery and one was blown. Hopefully they don't keep blowing! I will have to wait till next weekend to see...
  4. I will check to see if it goes to the console or just straight to the battery. Hopefully I don't have to change out the 8 guage for 6 guage...
  5. So I just installed a new Minn Kota trolling motor plug and receptacle at the bow of my boat. There was already existing wiring and an existing receptacle but I couldn't find the plug to fit it. Everything seemed good but when I went to run it, it ran for literally 2 seconds and then quit. Now all of the sudden there is no power to the receptacle anymore. Would there be an inline fuse installed somewhere between the front and the back of the boat? It's 8 guage wire if that matters. Thanks. Matt
  6. I guess my question really was: Is a marine battery that says just "deep cycle" better than a battery that says "deep cycle/starting" if it is only being used for a trolling motor? Even if the "deep cycle" battery has say 115 Amp hours. And the "deep cycle/starting" has 120 amp hours? As the Costco batteries earlier in this thread show. I recall reading somewhere that this is the case but wanted to be sure.
  7. Just stumbled upon this old thread. Is it better to get the Group 27 Deep Cycle with 750 MCA or the Group 27 Deep Cycle/Starting with 845 MCA if being used exclusively for my trolling motor?
  8. Possibly...what were your main reasons for upgrading? Screen size? Thanks Matt
  9. I'm looking at getting a new finder. I found a Humminbird 598ci HD SI for $600 at a local tackle shop. I have also been looking at the 899 HD SI for $999, cheapest I could find it for at Sail. My question is: Does anyone have experience using side imaging on a 5" screen? Is it worth the extra $400 to upgrade to a 7" unit? Would I be hindering myself in anyway with the 5" screen? Thanks. Matt
  10. So I went to look at a 2001 Lowe tonight. The guy is offering what I consider to be a reasonable price. I'm all but ready to make a deal and my wife comments that the transom is not very high. She is concerned that our 4 year old is going to go flying off the back cause there is no height at the back like our current boat has. Do any of you think this is a legitimate issue? The thought never would have crossed my mind if she hadn't mentioned it. She says she loves the boat otherwise. I've included a couple pictures so you can see what I mean. Any input would be great. Help me convince her to get this boat! Thanks! Matt
  11. Although a new boat with locker storage sounds tempting, I think I will stick to the sound (and free) advice everyone is giving and just continue to bring my stuff up to the trailer nightly. Thanks Guys.
  12. I'm looking for something like this: http://www.stripersonline.com/products/rapala-lock-n-hold-rod-rack I have something like this installed already but I thought there might be something out there that locks so the rods couldn't be removed. Might just stick to knowing they are safe and sound for sure by taking them up to the trailer.
  13. I am looking for a vertical rod holder that locks. Not sure if one exists. We have a trailer in a campground and I store my boat at the communal docks. I would like to be able to keep my rods in the boat overnight instead of bringing them up to the trailer every night. Any one have any ideas? Thanks, Matt
