  1. The back on this fish was huge and I couldn't get a good reading right side up. I can't wait for the Crappie to come up they are big and very tasty. The pond is 70% spring fed and the creek coming in is very clean and clear. Art
  2. Yaa know I believe yaa it has some kind of cheater numbers on the bottom that are like 2 for 1 inches. Art
  3. Had a good morning fishing for bass at pond X today. Lots of bites on jighead and worm combo. They were prespawn on the points with deep water near. I was looking for the pods of Crappie but they hide well from me. Here was one of the big fish of the day Art
  4. Since no one has mentioned it yet. The flesh is firm and white and tastes very good. Art
  5. They also like the dense vegetation I use a weedless frog that makes a racket when pulled thru the holes and open spots of topwater lilies. Use a stiff rod and stout line though because the first thing they do is take you down and thru the jungle of weeds. I fish this style for snakeheads down here in Virginia and it works like a champ. 6. I usually go to the local lakes on a warm day and hand out tackle and rod and reels. Most of them come from customers who have them sitting in there garage. I take them and service them and make up a tackle pack adding a few items that I buy to round it out.I also like to fish and when I see a kid fishing and I have a lure that is working I will cut it off and tie the "special" lure on there pole. You don't need a club to donate tackle it can be handed out by you and the warm feeling will last all day. Art
  7. Sounds like another great man I didn't get to know and I am sorry for the loss to us all. Art
  8. Get the boat that fits how you fish. I have 4 boats ranging from a 10ft pond pontoon to a 28ft Marinette none of them are interchangeable. I am lucky to have many different styles of place to fish from saltwater to ponds, rivers to rapids. The Ranger is good on the bigger water but would not last a day pushing rapids like the Aluminum jet boat does. The big boat gives me the comfort and confidence to run big water in good and bad weather but at the price of 2 1/2 ft draft. Buy as much quality as you can afford I rebuilt the Ranger because it was a solid boat but the interior was trashed. I replaced the old seats and carpet rewired it and put the engine in the shop. The rest of the boat was very solid and very well made with the face lift I now have a quality boat at a fraction of the cost of a new Ranger. Art
  9. Thanks for the contest T.J. and you too Mr. Roy for letting us know it was going on. I am guilty of not visiting the site often enough but from what I have seen there are some really awesome lures to be had for this spring. Art
  10. Good job on the Cats they are my favorite fish to fish for. We have had a hard time netting Bait this spring so we have been using chunks of mackerel for now. Big fish for this year is 48 lbs (blue Cat) we are hoping to put the state record of 72 lbs to bed this year. Art
  11. I want the 100.00 gift certificate yall can have the jigs. lol Art
  12. Less likely to freeze. Handles vibration and jarring better than wet cell. All of the motorcycles here have them. Art
  13. The reason a shallow draft boat is shallow is it rides on top of the water and has very little cutting ability. You will stuff waves with them and the penalty is getting wet. There is trade offs for each type of boat. Run a deep V in the shallows and you will find a shoal quicker than a shallow draft boat. Art
  14. The whaler is actually termed as a shallow draft boat. It is popular in the Florida keys because of the shallow sand flats they run. In that environment (sand and soft bottoms) they are the king. I run a Ranger up North and I am uncomfortable with the shoals and shallows I find in unknown areas. My shallow draft boat is an Aluminum boat with an outboard Jet it runs in 4 inches of water and it is used for shallow rivers but is horrible in weeds due to the intake of the jet drive. I have found that I like to run the boat that works the best in the water I fish the most. Art
  15. Hey Marty how are you in Virginia ticket repairs??? lol Can you hook a brother up when he needs it. Art
  16. I have a fiberglass Ranger and have carpet thru out. There was no place to land a fish except on the carpet. I replaced the lower area with vinyl with floor drains and keep the casting decks carpeted. The vinyl does get hot in fact to hot to walk on barefooted down here. I am glad I have carpet on the decks and a vinyl place to land fish and hose off at the end of the day. The carpet will air dry just fine in most cases if it is garage kept and not covered. I have stepped on a few of those snap in carpets and found the snaps to be burning hot when barefooted. Art
  17. We didn't know you were paying $25.00 for the answer.lol... For $50.00 I will say yes and sound like I mean it. Cheers Art
  18. This is cut and paste When I conduct a car stop, I approach and request some form of identification. I prefer a driver's license, but lacking that I can work with a Social Security number or even just a name and a date of birth (bear in mind, though, that if an adult claims to not know their SSN, they're getting some serious scrutiny - this was more often than not the hallmark of someone trying to conceal their identity). With that information in hand, I return to my patrol car. From here, procedures will vary by agency, but in telling you my process know that it will be largely the same anywhere you go. I would first get on an administrative radio channel set up for this purpose and "run your information" through the dispatcher. This consisted of giving your name, date of birth, gender, race, and driver's license or SS number over the radio. The dispatcher queries their systems with this information, and checks for multiple information items: Driving Status. The Department of Revenue database is searched for your information. This record will include all the information present on your driver's license, a current driving privilege status (valid, suspended, revoked, or no privilege), and a list of traffic convictions on your record. Probation or Parole Status. If a driver is on either probation or parole, all law enforcement contacts must be documented and relayed to their P&P officer. If this was the case, dispatch would advise me of this status, give the applicable offense (very important - there will be a big difference in my proceeding actions depending on whether you're on probation for speeding or on parole for assault on a law enforcement officer), and ask for a 'response' - a message to relay to the P&P officer about your demeanor during the contact. I'll then give a very brief description of the contact - usually along the lines of, "Stopped for expired plate, cooperative, issued warning/citation and released," or whatever applies. Caution Indicators. If you have documented instances of being violent during police contact, carrying a weapon, or resisting or assaulting officers, dispatch will notify me using a specific code. This gives me forewarning about previous police contact and may prompt me to request backup or exercise even more acute caution. Warrant Status. Dispatch will query local, state and federal databases with your information to see if there are any outstanding warrants for your arrest: If so, they will see if there is an extradition limit associated with the warrant. This is the maximum distance the issuing agency will travel in order to come and get you from my jail - and depending on the charge it could be as little as a few miles or as much as nationwide. If a warrant comes up and I am within the extradition radius, dispatch will ask if I want the warrant "confirmed." I cannot arrest you based on a warrant hit in a computer system - in order for it to be actionable, dispatch must call the issuing agency on the phone and relay the appropriate information. That agency must then physically pull the paper warrant at their facility, ensure that it is still valid, and confirm this with my dispatcher. Arresting you deprives you of your liberty, which is guaranteed at the most basic level of our governance, so they have to make absolutely positive that this information is still valid; a judge could have rescinded the warrant recently before it could be purged from the system, or any number of other scenarios rendering the hit invalid. So why do they ask if I want it confirmed? The confirmation process will entail the issuing agency clearing the warrant with a note that an arrest was made; dispatch needs to confirm that the suspect is present and that I'm not just running the information in their absence. Also, there are very rarely times when I do not want to confirm a warrant based on circumstances at the scene. If a warrant is confirmed, I am obligated by law to arrest the person - if not, I have just committed a misdemeanor myself. There were very rare instances in which I told dispatch to disregard due to extenuating circumstances (I once declined confirmation on the mother of a week old baby when I found, at two in the morning, that she had a warrant for a parking violation with a $25 bond). You cannot do this lightly and must provide a reason for why the warrant was not confirmed - because a warrant is, by definition, a court order issued by a judge which says that as a law enforcement officer I "shall" arrest the person in question upon lawful contact. While dispatch is working on all of this, I will input your information into the laptop in my patrol car. I will then be able to see most everything dispatch does (in my case, just about everything except local warrants). In the case of your not having hard ID, I can search by your SSN, and if you've got a license I'll be able to see the information on it and get your DoR picture to confirm your identity. I'll also run your license plate through my computer, which will tell me whether the plates or the vehicle are listed as stolen and what vehicle they're supposed to be on. Once dispatch returns their information, I'll wrap up the stop accordingly. If there's a warrant, I will of course get another unit and begin the arrest process. If not, I'll decide whether to issue any citations, then return to your vehicle to return your paperwork and release you with either a warning or your citation(s). Law enforcement personnel enjoy what is termed "officer discretion" during a vehicle stop - they have personal latitude in whether or not to enforce a given law/ordinance in a given situation. In your listed circumstance, the officer decided not to ticket you for the stop sign or the seat belt violations, so once he ensured you were not wanted, he released you. This was probably the case in 40-60% of my traffic stops. I often initiated traffic stops knowing that, barring unforeseen circumstances, I was only going to issue a warning. This served several purposes:
  19. I would send the money in and pay the ticket. If you get a ticket in any of the 48 states and you return to them any infraction will come up again if you are South of the border. I don't think that your insurance will get the report if they check. I do know the court system has no issues with warrents if it goes unpaid regardless of where you live it is issued and will come up on any name/license run thru by law officers. Art
  20. Once she tastes the end product all will be forgiven. Art
  21. Corian gets my vote. I have hooked up the plumbing in 100's of kitchens and seen them down the road. The Corian or Dupont products are the best way to go for an active kitchen. If you go with granite make sure it is smooth with no places where your fingernail can feel edges. The granite depending on what piece it is may look smooth on the sample but is rough due to the mineral content in it. The browns are the most problematic in my experience. Good luck on your choice it is nice to have new tops once you put them in they make a big difference in the appearance of the room. Art
