  1. We have a fishing event for the wounded warriors down here and we pair up the wheelchair bound with larger boats or pontoons. The loss of a leg or arm can ride in a normal bass/runabout with less danger to the people and a more enjoyable day. The wheelchair bound do not have the muscles that you and I do to absorb the impacts and constantly correcting your balance with your core muscles for a fast moving bass boat infact even going slow will challenge their abilities. You might consider a smaller lake to idle around on so you can concentrate on the fishing part and both of you will enjoy the day. Art
  2. Happy Birthday to you Dave we miss you around here. Art
  3. I have a 70 gallon tank it is a 1985 marinette which is an all aluminum boat it is really built tough and it has seen it's fair share of bad weather. The twin's make 480 HP and it travels comfortable at 25 to 27 mph at 3,000 rpms. The marinettes were made in Holland Michigan and were very popular on the Great Lakes. The boat is a deep V planing hull with a cabin for overnighting and the back is a hard cover with 6 ft of open fishing space at the back of the boat. I love the boat but the gas milage is 1.5 mpg so it is not something I run out to the bay often ( 60 miles) but it is very nice to run out and fish locally or a slow cruise in the evenings. Art
  4. I run a 28 ft x 11ft twin 318 boat and it gets about 2.5 kms per 3.7 liters This is a boat size that can take a 6-8 ft blowup safely. I would burn 296 liters one way. No way no how would I do the trip. Art
  5. You are correct Mark It is wacky rigged but shaking it on the bottom triggers my strikes. I also use the rig as you described as a shaky rig using the senko worm rigged inline not as a T both are deadly not only on the fall but the bass will follow it to the bottom and group around it till they get a trigger from the shaking. 6. Submersible led lights on the trailer. Art
  7. I use a shaky rig down to 20 ft no problem. It is a football head jig with a senko and a O ring in the middle of the body. Pass the hook thru the O ring and get a small bit of the senko. It should form the letter T with the jig head facing down. Cast it out and let it fall on a slack line that you are watching/fingering for a change in direction or speed of the fall. once it hits bottom jiggle the tip 5-9 times to shake the rig on the bottom and wait 10 seconds then retrieve and do again. The fall of the lure is usually when they hit and the bottom shake gives a follower a reason to strike. Remember if the water is clear a fish will come from over 20 ft easily to see this offering so move around and cover some water. Art
  8. Good luck in Alberta Jeremy keep us posted on the fishing . Art
  9. Just to bring up a point you can write anything you want and check as much as you want but if the person does not follow the rules then you will have to enforce the kick out clause of the contract which could leave you with an angry man with a gun or a lawsuit to deal with. Last time I checked $500.00 buys you about 1.5 hours of legal advice. I have been all over this subject here in the States and hopefully the laws are different in Canada but it was plain to see that sweat equity was a much better deal than money and a contract. I also found that sweat equity is the way to get the land improved once they pay money they expect you to do all of the things that make the hunt easier/nicer. If you go ahead you will most likely only have to live with the mistake for one cycle before you shut it down unfortunately you will most likely lose money from all of the legal advise, land prep, backround checks, posting, and contracts drawn up. 10. If the owner has more than one leasee hunting you are in the woods with a stranger with a gun who has the same legal rights you do. I personally allow select people to hunt on my property by appointment only so I can control the number of people in the woods. I also make sure they are responsible because I am personally responsible for them while they are on the property no matter what documents they sign waiving their rights to sue. You will do better not to lease but to approach the owners with a fair deal of a helping hand than as a cash for hunting rights. You might feel you are protected by the documents but the owner of the land can lease it to more than one person. Art
  11. Go for it RBR is one of the best meals you can make. Thanks for the well wishes we are heading down to Joes this evening for a grilling feast. Art
  12. Good point Roy the drivers seat and main passenger seats in a high performance boat should not be the folding type. The pass thru seat to get to the back of the bass boats can be a folder to make it easier to get to the back of the boat. Art
  13. I redid my 1985 Ranger with the seats from bassboat.com they are correctly padded and well made. The foam is dense enough to cut down the spine jarring that the stock seats didn't. This is the third season and they appear new but I do take care of my toys and it lives in a garage. Art
  14. way cool Brian lots of effort for spectacular results. Thanks Art
  15. I usually fish for the pike and have always found the patterns that work. The Walleyes are there to be had but can be tough to get outside of the slot limit. The muskie once the patterns are found are excellent Lew and Rich and a few others have made it a muskie destination for years with very successful results. If you have basic fishing abilities and can read the weather and water you will do fine. Kevin the owner is Capt. Hooked here on the board and he will give you an honest fishing report and even a few areas to fish while you are there. Art
  16. You only think he is smiling because he had a bad moustache day. Art
  17. Lak Air has your choice of your tent, prospectors tent, 2 man to 10 man cabins with great prices. Good fishing and great folks in Leslie and Kevin. Art
  18. Having to buy stock in a company that you helped make successful just to get a piece of the pie??? Seriously??? I actually am dead serious about investing to improve your future. The company you work for has already given you a piece of the pie it being an income and a job with some form of benefits. If you believe in the company then buy stock in it. If you believe in another company buy stock in it for your future. I owned some bank stock when it was a good money maker and as it slid down I switched to the next money maker "oil". The point is the pressure on the company from the shareholders is greater than the unions so they will listen to the investors before the demands of the unions. It is economics 101 I personally do not like unions even though my trade (plumbing) has them they are a burden on the employees as well as the company. I don't have the expertise to discuss unions so I won't comment further on them. I do know that wages invested make more money than wages spent. If you don't see any extra money in your budget then sit down with a budget manager at the bank they will see the holes and help you move to a better future. Art
  19. Happy Canada day me friends. Art
  20. People seem to have this notion that they are not allowed to share in the profits of these companies. This is absolutely wrong you can at any time plunk down your cash that you have saved and buy a piece of the action. Sure saving money is hard self denial seems to be a thing of the past and people spend past their means so they can have it now and pay for it later. Think back to when you made 1/2 of what you do now and you survived just fine. Now take half of what you make and set it aside for as long as you can even if it is only for a month. The bank will pay you money for letting it just sit there. Now take 1/2 of it and move it to a savings account and don't touch it. You have a reserve or cushion to use if it is needed. See your head is above water now. It almost becomes a game to see how much you can set aside for something important. Now keep looking at that cash in the bank and start to look for a way to invest it so it works for you. Some will choose the stock market other will go for land etc. there are many ways to invest so the money is working for you. This is the point money can work just as hard as you do without draining your resources. One year of your wages working for you can equal a 10% gain in your net worth with no expenditures that means no car expenses no lunch expenses no time expended (except to track it but counting money is not really a burden). The middle class is not disappearing because of the corporations it is disappearing because they don't know/ want to put out the efforts for self help. All of this is available to anyone who wants it, it is free on the internet, there are older people who are dying to share their stories on how they became Middle class or better. Deny yourself a new car when you have to buy it on credit, if a credit card is not at zero every month then you are living above your means STOP IT stay home and cook dinner, go fishing locally, whatever it takes DO IT you will still be young enough after you get money to work for you to enjoy it. Every man can reach a goal if they want it bad enough I have reach quite a few of the things I decided I wanted when I was 21 years old. I am now 51 and I hope to fulfill another one of my wishes and that is to pass on the map to the path that I have taken that worked for me. I am a little long in the tooth here but it just aggravates me that people have forgotten that the rights of entitlement has gotten out of hand and people rarely take control of there future but rather blame it on everything else but what it is......THEMSELVES.....For the few people who do not have the ability to control there income due to illness or death (something else I forgotten) in the family keep the faith and use the services that the government has put into place to help you. For the rest of us take the time and the effort to improve your future it will only hurt a little but as you get older you will not feel like you can't afford a little treat for yourself now and then.
