Limited Horsepower - do I think there is an advantage with a faster boat - sure. Do you need one to win - no. First T I cashed was in a 40hp Tracker Alum. against 100. 150, and 200 hp and up. Your strategy has to be different. Stay close, figure things out close to home. I personally like this format because it really forces you to use a different strategy then the fish for 5 big bites. More of a thinking T. Sure you can have good fish far, but is it worth running all that way??? Maybe??? As for burning gas, it is not a cheap sport. You don't have to burn a lot of gas, that's up to you. If you asked me if you need to burn more then $20 in gas to compete in this T, the answer is no. Thought about it and I am not sure how this T format would be anymore less environment friendly then others. Give it a shot, I've seen your bass pics you can obviously find'em and gett'em in the boat.

My partner and I are tossing a coin between this T or Lake Simcoe Casey Cup.... the Quinte one sounds like alot of fun though and a new format.

Anything in fishing that you've never been able to do?

Dave, I remember you are by frenchmans, so is myMom. I am going there this weekend. I can meet you, fix your line problem and have you walking the dog in 2 casts. If you like. -
Awesome, I really like it. Judging by the Rod and Reel I'd say he's been in that spot for 40 years or more!

Trying to decide what line to use this year
Harrison replied to coreyhkh's topic in General Discussion
Started using Power pro 12 or 13 yrs ago when it was first brought up to Canada and we were part of the team. That was my first introduction to braid. I stuck with it for many years, then switched to Tuf-line. Since I have tried them all at one point or another. Really liked the P-line braid for a while and Spider Thread. Tried all the newer line as well except for Nanofil as of yet in open water. Couple years back I returned to Tuf-line. Very good quality, great variety and a great price point. Give it a shot one time. -
Check out this new leader that may help you hook up with some of those finicky Lake O pike. Very new to the market, I sold out very fast, but have more on order and coming soon.coming soon. Small diameter and you can tie it directly to the hook. Pike guys out west bought it all up. http://www.tuf-line.com/products_Specialty-Lines_20.html http://www.etackle.ca/tuf-line-leader-10-15-20-50-lb-5yrd/

new powerful spinning reel and odd rapalas(fakes??)
Harrison replied to sconceptor's topic in General Discussion
The new Okuma Raw II reels were designed for salt water but have become very popular in Europe and the UK with Pike anglers. They are starting to catch on here too. The 65 & 80 size may be what you are looking for. Have an eye - Okuma Raw II 65 & 80 Here is a small video about them - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Eb8d7iv4Go&feature=player_detailpage If you think they may be fakes using the Rapala name, let Normark Canada know. I am sure they would be happy to hear about it. -
Awesome Joe!!! Fra jill lay My daughter made me a card that says, Happy Valentines Day Friend Dad. Cute, it's a keeper.

I actually "picked/suggested" my wedding day based on fishing/hunting seasons. There are a lot worse things to be obsessed with IMO, like golf.

I bought my present house private and off of Kijiji believe it or not. The Owner was thinking the same as you with lots of time to sell. He put it up, I bought it the next day and there was four others wanting to see it. Sure it depends on location/price etc. but this displays there are folks out there not afraid to buy private. I got an inspection, lawyer drew up the papers, done deal. Easy peasie and a great deal. I know when I sell, I will try private first for sure. I say go for it.

Well said Charles, hope to bump into you there.

I remember my dad watching it when I was really young. Pretty sure I recall something about a Moose Hoof ash tray, was there one?
-
When I think about the posts I remember from your Dad, the main thing I recall is how proud he was when he talked about his son and his job in the fishing dept. at Sail. There was no mistaking how proud he was. I know it hurts like heck right now, I lost my Dad too recently. I am a PM away anytime.

My condolences Alex and Family.

Well said Bruce.

Anders, you didn't mention this, but I think it is just as important or even moreso then getting the tickets. A realistic and goal oriented business plan.

Surprised That he could keep it on the road

Downrigging Basics - looking for some advice/tips
Harrison replied to Lunkerhunter's topic in General Discussion
It has a thinner diameter, therefore it cuts and has less of a bow in the line. Follows the boat nicely. bounced bottom a few time with it last year, no problem. -
Is this a machine you can "borrow" from work for a night?
-
I had a friend that would put a downrigger release on the line and snap it to zipper on his fly. I wish I was kidding.
