  1. Both the above are bang on. Most my perching experience is on Simcoe however this train of thought worked last year on a kawartha lake for me too. Year classes school together. If you get dinks, move. Plain and simple. Some guys have fished with me on the ice here for perch, I like to drill holes. Most the time when you do get into true jumbos they are using a different bottom. Recently on Simcoe anyways, find some weed/cabbage in deeper water the better, the bigguns are around sucking in the shrimp. For baits, I like the Lindy Darters and Powerbait & Gulp baits (minnows, fisheads and especailly the fish frys while they are feeding on the shrimp )
  2. Thread started silly, but I appreciate some of where it has gone. Life's way to short to be close minded. You never know, one day you may find yourself in a position where you pray someone comes along with an open mind and hand.
  3. I use the 1/8 oz for pannies Jer. Jumbo's love them. http://www.etackle.ca/lot-of-3-lindy-darters-1-8-oz-gold-shiner/
  4. Nice fish Jay! Great shots too. Another kudos for the Lindy Darters, one of my fav's through the ice. Gold is my personal fav.
  5. Cool, Thanks man. Lots to be posting soon. Including my new Last Cast Specials. Conan O'Brien is a good one to follow if you like his sense of humour.
  6. x2, Otter box is great idea with this phone. I am very happy with it.
  7. Hi Rizzo, I did a search for you. No luck. Maybe they will ship to a dealer, I can inquire for you if you like. Let me know and you can bring me a coffee and pick them up. Phil
  8. I think the folks that would talk like that would be more likely to be trolling behind a computer then on the water.
  9. Pretty sure anise oil smells like black Licorice right Ketchenany? So does the Bang scent I use, walleye and bass like it.
  10. Your right, there is alot of businesses and promotion on Twitter but once you do create an account, you can choose who you follow therefore controling what content you view. It is actually a great tool for anglers. @eTackle_ca
  11. I agree somewhat Roy. But I use scent and alot of it on slow moving baits such as Tubes, Drop Shots, Grubs, etc. Another time I use scent on baits (oil based) is when I flipping heavy pads or slop (in summer). It helps your baits slip into pockets and little holes. My favourites are Bang Garlic and Powerbait. I've seen the advantages of using scent too many times not to use it with certain baits. Just my two cents.
  12. Hey Cliff, I showed the wife a place online that I think may be very close to you. Maybe we will go have a look at it if there is a neighbour like you around!
  13. Sure Brian, we are here for ya and for a fish too.
  14. A goose will be no problem for that lab when you train him to retrieve using spud bars.
  15. I've fished Canal often, but never through the ice. I would assume you are right with the weed edges. It is a good crappie and Pike fishery. I really wanted to post because I know there is a pretty good current moving through the main channel, I personally would be weary of the ice in that area. Good Luck
  16. Come on down here Brian, I am lonely on the river. I have Eric Carmen blasting in my ear phones on repeat.
  17. Berkley Gulp and powerbaits are very popular for walleye and perch through the ice. Fish Frys, minnow heads, power minnows, trout worms, maggots etc. Sample of some of these baits here. Swammers are another plastic that was used through the ice last year by some of his field staff (gents I know) and they did well with lakers, whities and walleye. I've sold a few of them to some guys I know who are die hard Quinte guys for the eyes. I used to use the FinS minnow for perch alot too. Good Luck Rod!
  18. Man we miss him, but we know he is very happy. Give him some turkey for me! Ha! Those Simcoe perch are special, thats for sure! Thanks Brian!!! have an eye for the mummers.
  19. I would like to personally thank all those who have supported me from OFC/OFC/OFC in my various ventures over my many years of membership here. I feel very blessed. I am now in a position to give back as well. Looking forward to supporting more events put on by OFCers in 2012. From the Harrison Family to yours, Happy Holidays and Thank you.
