  1. Give it a shot all, it's worth taking them out at night. The glow sticks are the key I think. I hear you on the wife part Ryan. You have to word it right. I told the misses, There is ice 3 hours from here and I can go ice fishing with her or take her down the street in the late evening. It wasn't an issue after that. Thanks Gents, lots more to come and on Canadian Waters. We are just getting started! Not all with my ugly mug in them either.
  2. Hey all, Time is tight for me nowadays as I burn the candle at both ends. I wanted to take my lil one fishing. But our plans got cancelled so I made it up buy taking her late evening / night fishing! What a blast. I put the little glow sticks on her float and she absolutely loved it. She could see the bites and totally freak when the light disappeared. If you haven't tried panfishing at night with the little ones, give it shot! Just thought I would share. Phil
  3. Probably totally unfair, but I split the barrel on a mossberg 12ga. Saw the split just as I was about to put another round through it. Can't help but be a little gun shy with them now. (ouch pun) That being said a friend of mine got the 3 barrel Mossberg set, I never fired it but it felt really nice and the price is good.
  4. I hate to write this, but I had a black lab that was very very well trained and showed zero aggression. As a pup I used to put his food in my hand and put it in his mouth, also used to bang pots and pans and shout as he ate. (relate happy times to loud noises, makes them less gun shy) When he was still young around 5 he took a swipe at me out of the blue. Way out of his character. Took him to the vet, he was very sick, very sick. Take the advice others mentioned above and have him looked at. If he is healthy, maybe he forgot the rules and needs a reminder like sinker said.
  5. X2
  6. Unwanted guests??? I'm fishing out there this fall in a T and was going to ask if you have any spare room in the driveway for the boat.... I won't bother now.
  7. 20 years ago you could troll a #7 shad rap in the back of Mohawk bay and smash walleye in the spring. Try that now. There are a ton of variables, but speaking walleyes the fish have moved deeper and have become more weed/cover oriented. IMO. Not uncommon to catch walleye now out of really thick weed, even slop mats. I did a post here on how we fish walleye out of the thickest weed with flipping jigs a year or two ago. Edit - Found the post, almost 2 yrs to the day http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=42144&st=0&p=449986&hl=harrison&fromsearch=1&&do=findComment&comment=449986 Lake Simcoe is another example. On a calm sunny day you can see bottom in 30 ft or more and you can now fish weedbeds in 20ft of water in the main lake. I am hoping this will help the largemouth fishery in the main lake. I've been catching more of them in my weed smallie areas. AS for the B Of Q, fish must be moving in and out deeper then they were before.
  8. As Hirk mentioned above, if you are movin in and out and following contours of weedlines, fishing wind blown shorelines, or other areas where you are constantly switching the boat direction in short distances then cable is the only way to go IMO. AS for the higher pedal, it's not your leg that gets fatigued, it is your back and neck. Practice switching legs once and a while, it helps and after a while you get used to it.
  9. Depends on the baits Mercman. I do not use snaps except when big water trolling(riggers, planers etc.) I use a trilene knot for baits I use that work better not tied direct, ie. jerkbaits Little practice tying some of the knots and you can get very quick at it!
  10. I did get some great advice. Very appreciative for some expertise shared here. I was however warned, in addition to a couple posters here, I would in fact need a permit. And since the "inusrance contractors" are completing the repairs they would be looking for one. So it's a no go. But I will be moving the light locations.
  11. Nice guitar pics there! I'll take my lil one down to the bay this weekend and give it a go. Thanks for posting.
  12. The fine fellows that say "oh, you fish bass tournaments, that must be easy I catch bass all the time"
  13. And he sets the hook like a bull whip each time spooking the run. I hear Ya JonP.
  14. Ha! I'd like to say this is a fake, but look how forgiving the fairways are. Perfect for a Leaf.
  15. I recognize those eyes.. they yell "ARE YOU GOING TO THROW THAT, ARE YA, HUH HUH"
  16. We were out filming a show with three boats on the water. We took a break to eat lunch and grouped up togther as we drifted. A boat comes flying by and we hear one of them say "hey look at those guys all bunched together, they must be killing them, lets go over there" As they get within a long cast away we hear the buddy say, "You idiot, they're eating"
  17. "In todays news, If your thinking of a nice hike in the woods, think again. There are reports of people hiding in the forest dressed in camo making weird turkey mating noises. Our analysts have unveiled it may be a sacrifice ritual by a cult. Others believe it is hunters, but we have confirmed hunting season is in the fall. Stay tuned, more to come as we gather the facts... now onto another breaking story... sign bent at 400 and Bayfeild..."
  18. When braids and superlines first came on the market it was common when a buddy lost a fish on the hookset or in the heavy junk to ask "did you use a palomar?"
  19. Well written Craig. Another senstitive area is crappie spots in the spring. One of my fav's was just destroyed after being posted on the net and then shown on TV. Actually know a land owner with shoreline there, he's really looking forward to this spring. It's a slaughter.
  20. Palomar braid and drop shot. Improved clinch mono/fluoro. Improved clinch will slip with braid.
  21. x2 Nice fish!
  22. White grub and jig head. Can fish it anywhere in the water column and it will catch anything that swims.
  23. I've been burning the candle a both ends for a few months now. I took 6 hours yesterday to do nothing but watch a bunch of East Bound and Down. I admit, I feel alot better after that except for my gut that hurts from killing myself laughing. First time in months I took a breather with no work, no kids, no shows, no emails etc.. Have to make time again when I need it.
  24. Awesome Steve!
