  1. I was thinking this spot looks ideal. Seems like a deeper channel, docks are parallel to the shoreline. The pad bed is the only real overheard cover beside the floating dock. It is not at the back end of the channel so there is a better chance fish can move in from the big lake. Roy is right I think, mid summer - dry grass. Mid-day - no shadows and quiet. Probably during the week, ha. That pad bed would be loaded. I would approached parallel to the shore line and work that pad bed as stealthy as a I could. I'd pick it apart flipping and pitching while keeping a distance working my way from the edge to the middle. Then I'd move over to the floating dock and skip way up underneath it. That's where the big gal should be. That heron is a dead give away for me. My experience has showed when a heron is in an area like this something is around chasing out perch/sunfish etc. When I see one on a dock, I usually get a good fish on it. So when I spotted the heron in the picture I thought is would be fun to start a thread like this here. If you see a heron around, fish it hard. PS. Anyone know where this is? lol
  2. Burke is just waiting for the US dollar to get a bit stronger to let his bud Ronnie go. Promote Dallas Eakins! Lets not let another awesome coach in the leaf system get away like Crawford or Quenneville.
  3. For the first time in a while I am really pumped for bass opener this year. I saw this shot on the internet and was thinking how I would approach fishing it for bass. What to hit first, with what and where I think the fish would be. How would you fish it?
  4. Never believe the media, agents or even players during contract talks or trade deadlines. lol It's called bargining in the media. Sure a player will say he'd love to play at home, it's a bargining chip. There is a cap sure, but not on everything.
  5. To introduce my daughter to top water fishing. Also to fish tournaments with an angling idol of mine. Can now check that one off!
  6. I saw this somewhere one time and really liked it. Hopefully I remember it right. "Sometimes the excitement of a good deal is quickly lost to the disapointment of poor quality."
  7. Good point, I really meant Canadian. I don't think there is a player that wouldn't like to play at home.
  8. You sure? Why would any franchise player? Why come here get your game picked apart and get blamed when the media has nothing else to do with a crappy playing franchise. There is no one to blame but the coaching and brass when they suck at gelling the talent. I don't think a shortage of talent is a problem to atleast make the playoffs. Highest grossing team in the league with the largest fan base. There is no excuse not to make the playoffs atleast. Fill the team with GTA players and coaches/brass. That would flip things around IMO.
  9. Nolan is a great call. Would love to see Hitchcock on the bench. Have a buddy who played for him, swears he is the best coach he ever played for.
  10. Some of my best childhood memories were at the bottom of liverpool rd fishing at the bridge with my Dad in March for Pike. He would stop at Rerries on the way home from the hall and have the minnows there ready for when we got home from school. It looks like it is pretty hard to fish there now. Used to be a great little spot. Suprised you didn't get yelled at fishing near those docks.
  11. My brother was out recently and commented on how much bait there was in shallow on the north shore. Would be nice to see a spring trolling season like we used to have 15-20 years ago on the north shore. Excited to flatline and get the boards out this spring!
  12. I golf, not a lot but I can smack a $1 golf ball as far as a $10 one. The real golf nuts (my bro in-law) swear they can tell the difference in quality and he feels the confidence he gains is worth the extra investment. I feel the same as my bother in-law but about fishing plastics. When I spend good money on a good plastic bait I can tell the difference in action, durability and that increases my confidence. I fish better when I have more of that.
  13. We targetted them once by boat on Lake Ontario a couple years ago. It was literally a gong show. If you had two lines set up, you would lose one in the drink. It was insane. Fun but very tiring. I actually plan on filming it this year to showcase some rods, I'll post it here when I do.
  14. Awesome show, huge crowd. I think Dave did a really good job.
  15. 15 yrs ago or so the Leafs competed when they had players who would go into the corners with their head down if they had to. Every team needs at least one pretty boy with fancy tape on their sticks that float around the red line wating for a puck on the tape, but the leafs have a dozen. I can't help but be a frustrated fan supporting a team that is supposed to be the Hockey Mecca, brings in the most revenue by far but has one of the worst gelled teams on the ice. Not just for one year, or two, or five.... There is no excuse IMO. Fill the team with Clarkson like players from NJ and one hollywood Kessel at the red line youcould at least say, wow what a shift. I feel a little better, I really do want to watch leaf games agian and care. Hopefully soon.
  16. Awesome, great shots Ben. You live in paradise.
  17. x2 very impressed with these rods. There are two specific bottom bounce rods, one is 7'10 the other 8'6 both telescopic I think. Both 3/4 oz to 3oz. About $100 bucks or so.
  18. Limited Horsepower - do I think there is an advantage with a faster boat - sure. Do you need one to win - no. First T I cashed was in a 40hp Tracker Alum. against 100. 150, and 200 hp and up. Your strategy has to be different. Stay close, figure things out close to home. I personally like this format because it really forces you to use a different strategy then the fish for 5 big bites. More of a thinking T. Sure you can have good fish far, but is it worth running all that way??? Maybe??? As for burning gas, it is not a cheap sport. You don't have to burn a lot of gas, that's up to you. If you asked me if you need to burn more then $20 in gas to compete in this T, the answer is no. Thought about it and I am not sure how this T format would be anymore less environment friendly then others. Give it a shot, I've seen your bass pics you can obviously find'em and gett'em in the boat.
  19. My partner and I are tossing a coin between this T or Lake Simcoe Casey Cup.... the Quinte one sounds like alot of fun though and a new format.
  20. Dave, I remember you are by frenchmans, so is myMom. I am going there this weekend. I can meet you, fix your line problem and have you walking the dog in 2 casts. If you like.
