  1. Interesting.. I wonder if it has been contracted out?.. we figured we would know by next Friday either way
  2. After watching the latest update on the apple documentary (where they send in an undercover journalist into the factory), I wouldn't ever buy one.. I'm not saying any other manufacturer is better but when you have 150 some odd billion in cash on hand ,you need to have all your ducks in a row when it comes to treating people right.. They are WAY over priced..Apple claims to make 248 bucks on each phone but it could be double that according to the documentary.... they seem to break easy as well....
  3. My dad recently bought a 5th wheel and trailer used as a package.. low miles on both for about half of the retail new price.. because it's a dually it costs more to register and license and requires a yearly inspection.. he's happy to park and set up but with the option of touring with the truck.. anything close by and they use folding bikes..
  4. 5 th wheel if you like to set up camp, then explore.. towing a boat would be nice but I doubt it would be used enough to justify dragging it around . Some of the trailers nowadays have enough room to store an inflatable if you want to fish.. if you plan to fish in Ontario then I'm almost certain someone on this board would be more than willing to entertain you.. as for living down East...that's an easy decision, especially if you have the means to leave during the winter..lol
  5. I would say he's got off easy.. better to learn this way than the hard way which would be clinging to a cushion out in the lake... my buddy and I rescued some fishermen 20 odd years ago at quinte. Only one of the 5 had a proper life jacket.. they were very close to drowning...
  6. 16 events are qualifiers for the Olympics . My wife was elated to win tickets to the equestrian event..not something I would watch but her and my daughter are very excited.. front row too..
  7. Fire tiger!!
  8. This is a good reminder for me to get my kit together for moose hunting in late September.... no cell service and radios have little range where I go...
  9. I parted with Bell after a sales girl in their store told me I only had a couple of months on my cell contract...turns out she was wrong and I owed a couple of hundred bucks after I cancelled my contract... bye bye..
  10. Earlier in the season bluff bar can produce 20+ pike days.. I've had some 20-30 fish days(bass) out there on the main lake..look for structure...nuff said..
  11. A guy I hunt with has intimate knowledge of the area. The lake was hit pretty hard before the gate leading in was put up but it looks as if it has recovered nicely .. he figures that only one in seven lakes up there has decent fishing and he never tells a soul when he finds a good one because it's easy to fish them down. My best day of fishing had us catching 20-25 walleye an hour in a relatively small lake... sadly, life has gotten in the way of any more trips up for fishing..
  12. Awesome trip! Timing is everything when it comes to specks in that area. My buddy was just up there and they caught 29 with the biggest at 26". I moose hunt south of ORR and the country up there is heaven to me. The September bow hunt can't come soon enough..
  13. Most smokers don't give a damn where they throw their butts.. or maybe they are just conditioned to toss them where ever they happen to be..
  14. Cheap steel in the brushes nowadays.. a dozen people a year in Hamilton have issues with the bristles .. I use the stainless pad sold at canadian tire and since I have a Napoleon with real stainless grills I have no problem...
  15. My mother was addicted to pills when I grew up and later in life my stepfather and father in laws were drunks. I'm one that tends to shut out those that are a negative influence in my life and maybe fisherman has the same view but didn't express it properly. I grew up in a really crappy environment and my biggest fear is losing everything I've worked for. It's only later in life that I realize how lucky I am that I don't have any addictions to drugs and alcohol....
  16. Life is really getting in the way this year.. there's a good chance I won't get out anymore this year...
  17. Buying a rural property vs a cottage.. hmm.. depends on where you look and how far you want to drive as far as price goes.. a simple cottage can cost big bucks and not all rural property can be built on. Riverfront can be a much cheaper option.. having the wife on board with any decision will make your life a whole lot easier ....
  18. There is a difference in taste depending on where they are caught.. well, that's what the fishermen in Cape Breton tell me.. St Paul island lobster was the best I've ever had.. of course I got it right off the boat when it came in.. they offered me a huge one that wouldn't fit in our pot so I opted for 3 in the 2+ lb range . Best part of it all is that they wouldn't accept any money. If I could get some shipped from there I would do it in a heartbeat.
  19. I can't even try it to see if it works without a medical certificate due to my employers outdated thinking..in their minds you are impaired if it's in your system.. up to 28 days according to the HR department... while it's only post incident testing , an incident can be any number of things such as falling asleep while on your lunch hour (24 hour-365 day operation) .. lots of outdated thinking... reefer madness lives!!
  20. While I don't condone the pothead culture I believe it could be great medicine for many ailments. I have vertigo and I think it would help my symptoms but I'd rather it be in a controlled dose pill.. Big pharma isn't the answer either... The reform party type of thinking is taking over our current government...
  21. Every government since Bob Rae has cut the budget.. all 3 parties are guilty..
  22. I was thinking the same thing..walleye?
  23. I picked up 2 from the freshco plaza on Rymal in Hamilton but only after spotting a box on an upper shelf... they come 6 to a case...
  24. Great job guys.. one day I will have to sign up to help..
  25. Good job!.. I will be doing the same thing this Saturday with the kids from the Eva Rothwell center during the Binbrook Crappie derby. You' re right about untangling lines for them!!.. be careful, you could create fishing addicts!!
