To each his own. I wouldn't drive a Volvo Huzz, just not me. To each his own. Since there is over 300KMs on the Altima I have been peeking in the used car lot out here, Haldimand Mtrs, not for a SUV or crossover. For a car I don't see anything that turns my crank. I couldn't believe the most stylish vehicles other than the luxury cars on a lot of several hundred cars are the late model Buicks, Buicks!!!!! Am I that old? I guess I am. If you covered the badges on the sedans today you can't tell one from another, except for Volvo's, VW's and Chrysler 500's. I wish my wife would consider a crossover AWD like the OP is looking at, she just doesn't like the look, too Minivany Soccer mommy what ever that means. Happy wife,,,,,,,,,,. Then I could tow my boat with hers and sell my truck and buy back my 62' Healy or the 67' MGB or the 73' TR6 or the 70' T-Bird or the 69' Benz 280S, 76' L-88 Sting Ray, maybe my 83 560 SEC, 81' Eldorado Love Barge, oh my oh my too many to list I wish I had back today. One of my faves was the 68' International Harvester pick up 4X4 that was my winter beater when I had those sports cars, very rare. Man I'm sorry, who asked?

Huzz, I can't help you with this park but I have a question. Do you have a good pair of chest waders? If you don't invest in a pair. It will open up so much more water for you as a predominantly shore fisherman. It did for me before I got my boat. I could get to good spots I never could from shore.

Thank you very much. Those trout sure are beautiful fish. The colours, amazing.

When we were in the back woods and could only get CBC Canada we saved the batteries to listen to his show.

Nothing wrong with fried shinners. They are a son of a gun to fillet though. HH, lucky you guys didn't have a Methane gas monitor in the shack, no one would get any sleep. NO SMOKING.

They say that they don't build things like they used to. Thank goodness. When I was destroying cars and trucks lucky if you ever turned over 100,000 miles and then it was a heap of scrap metal. I was floored when I was told by a car dealer that most new car loans are for 7 years. Dave Drifter, those stats can be misleading as they are only for vehicles that the original owner kept for 10 years. I bought the Nissan Altima 3.5 L with 35K's on it a year old. We have had it for 9 years now with 312,000 KMS on the odometer and it purrs like a kitty, fly's like a Cheetah and hasn't a spot of rust on it. That's a number I would like to see, 2nd owners that keep a vehicle 10 years. Now I have put the jinx on that car.

Good to hear something positive for once. I have many Plano boxes some for over 25 years. Never a problem with them.

Musky Hunter - Balsam Lake w some OFC all stars
Old Ironmaker replied to gordy28's topic in General Discussion
Is it available to see online? I canceled WFN 100,000 commercials ago. -
I remember seeing this on channel 11 or hearing about it on CHML, extreme stuff. Are you making the run Biteme? What is the cause?

Korber, I haven't been to Runnaway bay for a few years. There wasn't any structure like Simon was fishing from. Mostly sand shoreline with coral reefs off shore a bit. Great diving. I did see a few surf fishing with big tackle towards Ocho Rios. Check with the Hotel you are staying at I remember seeing NO FISHING signs at the old Super Clubs there. Mostly private property along that stretch. Be careful going off the Rez in Jamaica alone.

Walleye/Pike opener on Georgian Bay
Old Ironmaker replied to kickingfrog's topic in General Discussion
Here we go again, I haven't memorized the entire fishing regs yet. Can't you read English? It's a bad inside joke from another recent thread about fishing regs. I know you can read. It is pretty clear that Walleye opens May 1st with a slot limit. You didn't mention what fish you only said opener but you are good for Trout as well. No Bass no Musky. With 8000 posts we should be asking you. A few years ago there was 5 Saturdays in June and we always thought Bass opened on the last Saturday, talk about confusion, even though if anyone of us planning the local Bass tourney bothered to read the book it was pretty clear. Reading the regs isn't as much fun as a good argument on the deck. When it is legal to fish good luck to you and have a great time Frog Kicker. That's mean you know, poor little Froggy. -
AWESOME MORNING IN THE MANGROVES!

Wormdunker, they have the body of Pic and a mouth of a largemouth and fight like a Musky. I miss catching, I mean fishing for them in Fla. We would use live shrimp jigging them around the pier walls at dark. Limey, your videos are getting better all the time. I'm sure I don't have to warn you not to step on a Ray. Good stuff my man, good stuff. I live vicariously through Bunk and yourself this winter Simon . I didn't even wet a line when I was down south over the holidays. Don't ask me. It was an urban vacation. -
Never the last boat or car. At 85 when my Dad bought a new car from the showroom he said this should do me for 5 years. He's going to be 90 in a few months.

12 years of fishing in Cuba - Cayo Largo (part 1 of 3)
Old Ironmaker replied to scuro2's topic in General Discussion
Good read. Did you fish out of the air plane? My best Cuba fishing came from inland freshwater lakes for Largemouth, big enormous Largemouth Bass. 25 years ago. I used to wade in salt water fishing until I heard about that Ausie from TV that got stung by the Ray and died. You know the guy, my memory is mush lately. I can't even remember all the Ontario fishing regs I memorized. A great report thanks. -
I rented a Sante Fe to tow the 19 foot boat on our spring trip when my GMC Sierra was on her last legs with 500K before I bought my Silverado in 2011 and I was very impressed. The only reason I didn't buy it was the price compared to the Chevy that year. It wasn't close, much more for the Hyundai. I was amazed at the stingy fuel consumption. Way less then the V8 Chevy but at the time I needed the box.

There is a Ron Agnew who is a Financial Advisor in Hamilton. I found him on LinkedIn.com

Rattletrap, don't get rattled by Mr. G's post. He has some good advice there. I am old enough that the Feds think I am qualified to get a pension. Rare days I think I'm stealing it but most days now I feel I deserve more. Age can't be changed. Strength can be but I have to tell you it is a tough challenge to increase let alone maintain the same strength I had just a few years ago. I wouldn't think twice about lifting a 40 horse by myself a few years ago and did, now I struggle with groceries and need 2 more hands to hang my kicker on the transom and it's still heavy. I should be President of the "Used ta" club, I used ta do this and I used ta do that, I have photos to prove it. It's just a fact of life. If you can still upgrade to a auto tilt/trim and it won't break the budget go for it.

Big Lew, that would be Joey alright. A fantastic woman, a very special woman of which there are too few. Someone upstairs needed her to do special things for Him. Now the entire World will be touched by her graces, I really believe that and I'm not what you would say is a religious person. I can't come to terms with her loss and I had never even met her in person. Just last month I mentioned her in a thread wondering why we hadn't heard from her in a while.

If he has a place there he would know I would think. It is a nice area, visited the Ore mine years ago and wished we all brought a rod, good looking waters everywhere.

Shore fishing Antigua Video report
Old Ironmaker replied to limeyangler's topic in General Discussion
Simon, one of my favorite video's from you so far. Epic. I have yet to land a Cuda. Looking at that rough Coral all I can picture is me talking a header on it, Coral hurts bad enough then the 24 hours of Coral Flu. -
The total running time that is shown when my GPS unit is turned on gives me total time to date and individual trip time. It gives me an idea how many hours I have used the boat since I installed the combo and the time I have been out for a single trip. I might zero it this year and see exactly how much I use the boat for the year. It is turned on before I leave the dock. Unless an hour meter has been on the boat since new it won't help a perspective sale some day. I like that Tiny Tac unit Art. Sounds like I can even install it.

Your right, I'm wrong, nope I'm right you're wrong, no we're right they are all wrong. If we memorized the entire Ontario fishing regulations what would we argue about? Politics? I have read the regs. now I guess I better memorize them, when I get a life.
-
You don't need to bring everyone with you just me. I can fly, even take off. I never got the landing down pat before I packed in my lessons. Plus look at all the weight we will save since I don't really drink Beer. Good luck and welcome to OFC. Please read the rules, I should have. edit: I was going to suggest you talk to Irishfield, he's our resident test pilot.

You know what John Bacon, I need to go look. I bought a big box of old and some antique lures for 40 bucks from a flea market/liquidator guy that closed down in Jarvis a few years back. I know there are originals of all 3 in there I need to go look. Buried in my tackle shed. And you spelled Daredevle right I think.

You are very fortunate to have that kid spincast. I have to say young fishermen, he ain't like no kid like I know around a boat. You are both in that rare zone where no one has to tell the other what, when, where or how to do something. Imagine the skills in 5 years from now.
