  1. That's strange to mention the suspect isn't related to a Cousineau that works in Ft Francis. Small town I guess where everyone knows everyone. He wouldn't be related to the Mark Couseneau that held the NFL sack record until broken by the guy from Good Morning America TV show.
  2. They actually describe someone as "Caucasian"? You don't hear or read that. They won't even say black anymore, dark complexion is how they explain it around here these days. Or light complexion for a white guy. I'm waiting for the Cops to name the brand of designer underwear a suspect was wearing.
  3. Tell someone in the states that you caught a Pickerel and they expect to see a Pike. Go for a fish fry of "yellows" and you will get Perch. Up in Atticokan a huge Northern would be a Jack Pike. Catch a Silver Bass and you will get 5 names for it here. I once caught a Rainbow Trout and someone said it was a nice Steelhead. You need to be a Biologist to name a Catfish correctly. Here a young Smallmouth is a Greenie. I could go on. A fish by any other name would smell as bad.
  4. Now that is being dialed into your unit Mr.G. I have a fish finder now I need a fish catcher. M2B2, quit playing with that thing. The old Black and White Garmin I have has to be over 15 to 20 years old. It sits next to my 2 year old Bird. I see almost exactly the same thing on both, depth, structure, noise, baitfish. I will often just use the Garmin for fish finding and the leave the HBird on full screen GPS. I guess that says a lot about the quality of Garmin, back then anyway. Wouldn't it be nice if you can just swap out the transducer with out having to fish it from stern to stem? Maybe you can, are there unit where you can just change the transducer?
  5. The best anti theft devise is driving a Ford. Welcome to the Silverado club of OFC Dan.
  6. I took mine out once after 3 years to use it on another truck. It was so rusted I had to hammer it out. I cleaned and painted it and now take it out to clean it up every year or so. You don't want that breaking while towing, the coder pin was so rusted I changed it to a stainless pin. The pin that goes through the receiver must have been a good stainless as it was fine. Lucky that coder pin didn't fail as I believe the locking pin will eventually work itself out.
  7. Fishing for suspended fish here on Erie I am not looking for "hooks" as much as I am looking for bait balls and then I try to get my line into it. Fishing for Bass amongst structure I always have my old backup Garmin finder set up a bit differently so I don't have to adjust the settings for shallower water. The older my new combo got, that once would show my downrigger ball and line, the less sensitive I found it. From getting a tip I believe here now when I tow the boat I will tape ankle socks over the transducers, of course a colour that matches the boat. Imagine how much road rash you will get on the bottom of a sensitive transducer going down a highway and back roads. Also, especially when the boat is in her slip on a gungy creek, I will wipe off the bottom of them before heading out. Your sonar is only as good as the transducer.
  8. Bring mosquito nets and duct tape like Mr. G said. Rods ad reels weigh next to nothing, bring several, for casting, jigging and trolling. Sometimes my boat looks like I am selling them offshore.
  9. A pal got rear ended once on a lot and the hitter fled the scene. The problem for that guy was his bumper also was imbedded in the back of buddies truck, complete with license plate. The cops howled when he showed them at the station. They told the guy someone found his plate on the road and for him to come and pick it up at the station, he did and they arrested him for hit and run, big fine and points.
  10. My shin has dents in it from hitting it. As soon as my wife hits hers it will come off.
  11. It has been answered by the link to the Chatham newspaper, thanks G. I bet her plate was obstructed.
  12. I think you are going to love a fly in Big Cliff. Only did it once and the memories are priceless. I will suggest to transfer all liquids or food that come in glass and metal cans into plastic bottles and containers to keep the weight down. Take everything thing else in totes that are easy to carry and keep things dry. Lots of pasta and rice goes a long way. We used to portage into back lakes off the Kimberly Clark logging roads and carry 12 foot tinnies plus tackle, food, drinks, 9.9's and gas over Beaver Dams in these lakes. I could never do that now, not even think about it. We have come across a few fly in guys that lost it when they found out we drove in. We dropped off some supplies to them at the bottom of the path that week. Find out what exactly a portage would entail. Just getting in and out of a 12 foot boat today is an adventure for me. I would also suggest if you get an opportunity to fish for other species of fish go for it. It can get very boring reeling in 2 pound Pics day in and day out. Plus if the Walleye have lock jaw the Trout may not. We always went the end of May beginning of June when there was still some ice in the creeks in the dark woods. Bugs were not as bad as I have seen it as far south as Point Au Barril just last May, it was very bad. Eat with a bug net on bad. I'm sure Mike has tips for you to keep things light and dry as well. Have fun my dear Sir. Keep us undated.
  13. While getting gas today in Swag Holler (actually Fisherville just east of Dog's Nest) Ontario the lady attendant there warned me that I cold be ticketed because I have my receiver and ball attached to my truck and I wasn't towing anything. Everyone I know and there has to be 5 pickups/SUV's per passenger vehicle out this way and I always see the receiver and ball attached to the truck. She was quite adamant in her opinion that was based on her daughter getting a warning by the local OPP. I can find any legislation concerning this in the Ont. Highway Traffic act for towing. Section 618 I think it was, all and everything else though. Is she mistaken? Just because I can't find it that doesn't mean it isn't so. I have never heard of this law and I have put a few miles driving in the last 48 years. Are we really expected to disconnect and pull the receiver and ball after every tow? I don't think so. I do take it out and clean and or paint it every few years. More often is what is recommended I believe. Thanks all, Johnny D
  14. The options are many in that price range for a solo unit. I have Hummingbird, Lowrance, and Garmin units. All do what they say they will do. I would get a colour GPS combo unit for sure, you will thank yourself later, especially for the fishing you are doing, any fishing really. Catch a fish, make a weigh point, go back to the exact same spot once you land it or 5 years from now. Get the largest screen your money can buy. I do not have or use side imaging so I can't comment.
  15. About 20 years ago we lived in a Condo complex in downtown Hamilton. I was sitting on the balcony about 1AM after work and watched 2 people checking car doors and those that weren't locked they went and rummaged around in the cars. I called 911. The Police came out and stopped them. I watched as they talked to them and let them walk off. The Cops knocked at my door and basically harassed me. Basically said why are you bothering us "they were only looking for cigarettes" I swear on my parents elderly lives. What the ****? I will never call them again if I see a theft. Why should I? My wife works retail abutting the Res. I told her if you see someone stealing and they are the usual suspects, let the security camera do the work and ignore them. No security on site. It happens there almost daily, the price of doing business. Cars are regularly stolen off the lot, not hers with 300K on it though. I cringe when she takes the 2011 Silverado when she works late or the weather is bad. Kachenany, it's a Res. thing here next to the res. 110% if that's possible.
  16. What are you flogging at the Hamilton show Bruce? We plan to be there too, hopefully only window shopping but that I doubt. We should have a set time for a OFC mini G2G at the snack bar at the Bassmasters show.
  17. I have too add that I am out to either The Oneida or Six Nations res. at least twice a week. Just like all facets of any society there is no more or less criminal element there as anywhere else. The high percentage are good hard working law abiding folks. I don't understand when someone says they won't drive there after dark. Most of the vehicles I see after dark are the Six Nations Police. I feel safer there after dark than many neighborhoods in Toronto for sure.
  18. The Intercoastal is loaded with Peacock Bass. Actually in Fla if there is water good chances there are fish in it. The trill of fishing there is you never know what will hit next. From a Jack to a Gator.
  19. They don't care if they found it on the rez or in front of Parliament Hill. The insurance company will offer you the average Blue Book or NADA value and that's it. Been there done that and have the T shirt. I had a 83' Benz 560 SEC Coupe that was nearly deemed to be antique, showroom condition, it was appraised several thousand above market value that was stolen, never recovered. They offered me the average Blue Book for it, 4 grand less then appraisal. Basically told me take it or leave it or we can go to court and I could pay a lawyer. My lawyer said "take it". I have empathy for you Dan.
  20. Everything Craig said. Make sure you get a license from a bait shop or online before you fish, the CO's are everywhere where I go. Familiarize yourself with the regs. too for the area you are going to fish at. DO NOT fish at night alone. The more with you the better. DO NOT go to a bank machine at night. here are many things you shouldn't do at night in South Florida alone. No not that.
  21. I have brought my boat across a few times into NY State. Federal registration, trailer ownership and insurance is what I showed and Passport obviously. Check Alabama's State website for out of state or non US registered boating requirements, there may not be any.
  22. There used to be a "Ballet" in Port Hope just off the 401, so I have been told. It brought in a copious amount of money from fishermen after a long day.
  23. We need to change as does technology today. I really don't see me using it to find fish either to be honest as well. I don't know how young or old you are woodenboater but when a pal and I showed up at the camp on the Ottawa River with a flasher in the early 80's the old timers told us it was cheating. When I got my first portable Eagle Ultra fish finder with Fish I.D.(still have it and it works) in 93' all 3 of us in the boat were huddled around the thing trying to get it to show a fish and a beep. I bottomed the boat out because I wasn't looking where I was going or looking at the depth. What's that beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep? What's a "shallow alarm? We figured it real fast. Lucky we weren't on the West Arm, rocks hurt boats.
  24. Hey Mate, have you never heard of "customer golf"? You never beat them if you want the sale and you should never out fish your guest 10 to 1. Thanks for the video, I can smell the grass and wild flowers. Can you not post the channel here? I would love to go to it.
  25. Hi Wabusk, welcome aboard OFC. A Musky charter bachelors party!!! You party animals. I hear the fishing is good in Vegas that time of year. But I have heard what happens on LSC stays on LSC. But seriously for a second I have heard nothing but good things about Mike Handlebars. You will have to let us know all the wild details if you come back in 1 piece.
