  1. Not that anyone ever misses me, but some of us are "streaky" posters. don't get a chance to visit for a couple of weeks, then make 50 posts in 3 days!
  2. Interesting that fall is considered the time to cast there, because in a lot of bodies of water that's when more people would troll. If casting though, I'd start deep and work your way shallower. As fall progresses, fish may be quite a distance away from that drop off, so don't be afraid to make a cast even "deeper" than where you've parked the boat.
  3. hahaha...Gail
  4. YIPES!!! That nasty candiru. I will never pee in lakes or rivers again, just swimming pools.
  5. good stuff. Nice to see people getting out fishing before they close the season down there. Sounds like that pike may have eaten a bowling ball, quite heavy for the length.
  6. very sad for the families of these people. When you look at it, its almost too ridiculous to believe its true. How close do you have to be to get a good reading on the radar? I would think a lake offers a lot of room to space out. Keep your dang distance...or better yet don't tempt fate. Hopefully others out there learn from this, but of course we know they won't. If we learned from past examples, we wouldn't be discussing this now.
  7. pallets eh? interesting. I was thinking of sinking a christmas tree one of these years out from our dock, gotta reconsider that!
  8. That IS crappiesteve, saw him wearing those exact pantaloons just last week.
  9. very nice fish! I gotta admit I'm really starting to get the itch, how much longer to musky opener?
  10. unfortunately I cannot, other than doing the calculations and then rounding!
  11. if you need to practice your guiding skills I'm available! Good luck, an exciting career to pursue.
  12. huh? Since when does ten equal one tenth? Methinks I find the error in your logic.
  13. yipes, I wouldn't want to be that close to a couple of irate meese.
  14. I keep one every other year or so, but I only catch them incidentally. This year didn't keep any, so I guess next year I'm eating fish!
  15. I've seen that fish before, always looking for a good time. My guess is syphillis.
  16. I've caught a couple of stingrays in my day, fight like stink. Pretty neat sight when the big ones come flying out of the water.
  17. remember..."if you have to ask, you can't afford it"
  18. Again, assuming this is about quitting smoking, my favorite is when the nursing home staff won't let the old folks have a cigarette...guess they're worried it might stunt their growth. As long as they keep it away from the oxygen tanks who cares!
  19. Good question. For some reasons I mainly remeber the bad ones...and when you launch with a celica, many of them are bad ones. Worst I ever saw was a launch at the top end of Sparrow. I backed so far into the water I could see water out the front of the car! Never did get the boat off the trailer there, had to head down to the river to launch. Head Lake ain't great either, but is manageable with the car as long as you don't mind getting a little wet. Some of the free launches on the upper niagara are ok, as long as there isn't 500 lbs of weeds covering them. Probably the best I've seen are at Ojibway Bay Marina on couchiching, and the free launch at the end of Tiffin St. right here in Barrie
  20. nice report, I love the pizza box, too funny
  21. HAHAHAHA, my wife go fishing??? I DON'T think so, can't haul her out of the mall long enough.
  22. yipes what a pig
  23. Cold? Nah, its only going to be -25 or so on Tuesday up here in the wind.
  24. I think you're right. Out from Minet's Point there are lots of huts, so I assume at least decent fishing. I guess they do it at this location not for the fishing, but because of the southshore centre (parking, breakfast, lunch etc). The rest of the ice season I never see anyone fish in this area so I'm pretty sure its not exactly a hotspot .
