  1. Happy belated B-day U.B. Man, you carp guys got some crazy set-ups just to put a piece of corn or bologna or wieners on a hook! You're almost as nutty as the musky guys
  2. Hey Fishless, let me know the next time you're passing through town and we'll see if we can wet a line
  3. I hear Nipissing has them 2 species. I'd give that a shot. Give yerself 2 days though, its a pretty big lake . Kinda like the Disney World of fishing. Closer to Toronto you've got L St. John or L. dalrymple, both good for pike and bass.
  4. In land lake off of Blackstone-Crane Lake Road
  5. great report. Man that is one sick donkey looking pike. Too bad about the big one that got away
  6. trust me Brian, you don't want to be seeing me!
  7. Fill that cooler all you want, I guarantee Paul will have it emptied by Saturday afternoon
  8. Wow, nice way to break the skunk!
  9. Finally got the boat out for the first time on Saturday a.m. The plan was to do some piking so we tried out an inland lake approx 15 minutes south of Parry Sound. Never fished here before, so it took a bit of time...but not too long...before the first fish was on. Not what I was looking for, but a nice incidental catch. This was a 6.5 lb walleye that hit a 5 of diamonds spoon. Never having been to Quinte, and never deliberately trying to catch a walleye, this was actually a personal best for me! Fish was released healthy. Funny thing is, I had just finished telling my partner that I had never caught a bass on a spoon before, but that I had caught walleye on a 5 of diamonds while pike fishing at Lakair. Couldn't have been more than 2 casts later that this fish was caught. Nonetheless, we didn't drive up to Parry Sound for incidental walleye catches. Pike was our targetted prey. We had a tough time finding even a hammerhandle on this new lake, although just before we were entirely discouraged my partner had a follow from a pike that looked like it had a shovel for a head...an absolute monster. As he quivered at the back of the boat, I caught a glimpse of the fish that appeared to be in the 40 inch range with an absolutely huge melon. About an hour after finally raising a fish, we managed to land one when I coaxed a 32 inch fish with broad shoulders out from under a boathouse. This fish had only one eye, but had a big girth so clearly wasn't having problems seeing the dinner menu. Throughout the day we had some follows of nice pike (mid 30 inches) but they seemed a bit lethargic, just kind of curious. The out of season smallies were out in full force though, being quite aggressive and hitting some large baits. Ended the day with this pike, not huge (a little under 30 inches) but a good way to wrap up the day. Good times out exploring new waters.
  10. My condolences to you and your family Lew. You certainly have been put to the test the last few years. This is a very nice tribute you have written about your brother. You have a relationship with him that would make anyone jealous, he sounds like a great guy.
  11. I've fished the lake a few times before, but with my fish averaging slightly better than hammerhandle (25-27 inches), and my boat a puny 14 feet, I haven't bothered to enter. I think the guy's name who pretty much is a shoe-in to win most years is Dave Rochette.
  12. no doubt that's a nice pike for that lake, but the only way that pike is over 10 pounds is if you are 6'7" and 250 pounds...we call that the reefhawg effect.
  13. Hey Joey, how about that cooler you're sitting in? Unfortunately I am about 95% certain I will not be at Lakair this year. On the positive side, this means there is reason for people to fish the tourney, rather than watching the inevitable of having the trophy handed to me.
  14. looks like you got yerself one of those fancy new warbler bucktails
  15. First page I went to was from 2003 (when I joined) and had Photoz talking about some carpin imagine that! Also, there were some posts from a guy who "didn't give a..."
  16. Don't stir the pot Joe
  17. sweet...I clearly need to take my *%!%&* kids fishing
  18. the remax parry sound site (as do other real estate sites) has some info on local lakes but unfortunatley some of it may be unreliable. One of these sites said our lake has "fat head" in it. What the heck is fat head??? Perhaps they caught me snorkelling one time. Knowing that area, most of the lakes up that way are Pike, and both types of bass. Some have walleye. Good luck with your search.
  19. Nice report and photos. Can I have the GPS coordinates for that 2nd photo? Looks like a hotspot!
  20. There are no walleye in the Moon, I blame those dang musky and the double-dang catch and release musky fisherman
  21. Wow, all kinds of toothy slimy critters! Nice report
  22. great job, looks like you found yourselves a real nice spot. At this time of year the shore fishing can be great (so I'm told) and you just proved it. Very nice.
  23. Good report. I'd take a 10lb pike any day. Kid must still be beaming about that one.
  24. good luck bud, when all else fails may I suggest crying? Man I had a lot of girlfriends who cried themselves out of some sticky situations (especially speeding tickets!!). I say go in there and cry like a schoolgirl.
