  1. unfortunately I cannot, other than doing the calculations and then rounding!
  2. if you need to practice your guiding skills I'm available! Good luck, an exciting career to pursue.
  3. huh? Since when does ten equal one tenth? Methinks I find the error in your logic.
  4. yipes, I wouldn't want to be that close to a couple of irate meese.
  5. I keep one every other year or so, but I only catch them incidentally. This year didn't keep any, so I guess next year I'm eating fish!
  6. I've seen that fish before, always looking for a good time. My guess is syphillis.
  7. I've caught a couple of stingrays in my day, fight like stink. Pretty neat sight when the big ones come flying out of the water.
  8. remember..."if you have to ask, you can't afford it"
  9. Again, assuming this is about quitting smoking, my favorite is when the nursing home staff won't let the old folks have a cigarette...guess they're worried it might stunt their growth. As long as they keep it away from the oxygen tanks who cares!
  10. Good question. For some reasons I mainly remeber the bad ones...and when you launch with a celica, many of them are bad ones. Worst I ever saw was a launch at the top end of Sparrow. I backed so far into the water I could see water out the front of the car! Never did get the boat off the trailer there, had to head down to the river to launch. Head Lake ain't great either, but is manageable with the car as long as you don't mind getting a little wet. Some of the free launches on the upper niagara are ok, as long as there isn't 500 lbs of weeds covering them. Probably the best I've seen are at Ojibway Bay Marina on couchiching, and the free launch at the end of Tiffin St. right here in Barrie
  11. nice report, I love the pizza box, too funny
  12. HAHAHAHA, my wife go fishing??? I DON'T think so, can't haul her out of the mall long enough.
  13. yipes what a pig
  14. Cold? Nah, its only going to be -25 or so on Tuesday up here in the wind.
  15. I think you're right. Out from Minet's Point there are lots of huts, so I assume at least decent fishing. I guess they do it at this location not for the fishing, but because of the southshore centre (parking, breakfast, lunch etc). The rest of the ice season I never see anyone fish in this area so I'm pretty sure its not exactly a hotspot .
  16. ya, kind of funny how they did that. Top 5 prizes were great, and then every once in a while there would be a great prize thrown in at a weird spot. Made it kind of interesting actually, sometimes had you hoping they wouldn't call your name until you got to that better prize!
  17. lakers not bad...but snagging that rod off bottom is a great catch! Are you allowed to keep it considering you snagged it?
  18. So I did manage to cart myself onto Kempenfelt bay Saturday afternoon to participate in the charity tournament. Cost was $80.00 per hole with proceeds benefitting local charities (RVH Cancer Centre last year, Gilda's Club this year). Didn't seem that cold at home, but man was I happy to have the survival suit on! Now I understand why "Tarpus Maximus" has some problems on the ice...it gets mighty windy on Simcoe. Even though I live 5 minutes away, I've never actually ice fished Kempenfelt bay before. To make things worse, I've never fished for whitefish or trout before either! Stopped in at Simcoe Bait and Tackle to talk a little "shop" with the local experts. Ended up meeting the guy who finished second in last years tourney and got a few tips... pretty sure everyone lied to me I ended up with zero trout and precisely zero whitefish. Fortunately, I did land a couple of perch (out of 50 feet of water) and one was big enough to get me in the prizes. I finished 48th out of approx. 500 people, winning $150.00 in ice fishing gear from Bass Pro. Top 50 people got prizes. Funny thing is, the guy in 50th place won an aluminum boat, guess I should have done a little worse! Either way, a fun day and supporting great local charities. I'll definitely be back.
  19. good time to buy in barrie. Prices are down from a couple of years ago and there is a ton on the market. Many houses for sale with very few buyers at this time of year. If you look around enough you will find a great deal (ps my house is for sale!)
  20. charity event, costs $80.00 per hole, runs from noon til 3 p.m. starting at the southshore centre on lakeshore drive. $ goes to a Gilda's Club which they are starting up in Barrie. I had a friend last year who won $100 last year on a dink perch because so few fish got caught! Biggest perch last year apparently won an aluminum boat.
  21. nice report. Those jacks can be a ton of fun when they are busting the bait like that, pretty good fighters too! Yellow bucktail jig always did the trick for me when it came to schooled up jacks.
  22. good luck, think I'm going to enter the tournie on kempenfelt bay tomorrow
  23. I'm very afraid! Last summer before all these reports became known there was someone who fished our small cottage lake using crayfish and leeches from that area! I'm hoping I'll still have some fishing to do.
  24. I'm with Mike the Pike, where's the Minimus shot! Nice whitefish btw
