  1. looks like me pretty much everytime I go out...having a small boat can be very intense
  2. nice report. Not too many pike can resist a big honkin sucker dangled in their face. For artificials, something that has the colour/profile of a smallie would be a good place to start. Don't underestimate crayfish either for river pike
  3. does mudpuppy count? If yes then my answer is one (its been a tough year)
  4. that is certainly not what I wrote...but as far as censorship goes, that's pretty funny (also sad, because a jacka$s is just the name of an animal so why bleep it out...unless of course its the reference to a movie title that lead to its bleeping...now I'm so confused I feel like a jackdonkey for starting this)
  5. Ok, so its not the Holland River, but what's in a name? Go wet a line and see what you find (oh yes, and tell us if you figure out the name).!
  6. no doubt about it, thats one of the whale sharks from the movie jackdonkey where they fill the guys swim trunks with shrimp and then fire him in front of some feeding whale sharks
  7. good stuff! just don't call in sick the first day to go fishing. apparently that is frowned upon.
  8. very exciting when something like that happens (unless of course you needed that fish to survive...then it sucks)
  9. MEEEEEOOOOWWWWWW! nice cat . What would heavy tackle be if you've got 20lb powerpro on the light?
  10. in the immortal words of JJ... "DY-NO-MITE" That sounds like a great day! Once again, I'm shocked by how much about the day you remember. I need to go fishing with you so that someone can tell me how I did at the end of the day!
  11. some beauty colours on that lure
  12. I'd probably end up missing the whole event, I always seem to miss when something goes on around here.
  13. its still august...don't get me thinking of such frighteniing topics
  14. great report and photos!
  15. gotta love that. I put my 34 year old brother onto his first musky yesterday...but that doesn't really compare. Daughter and dad must be so proud!
  16. Wow, nicely done! Sounds like a successful summer. I agree with pigeontroller though. Now that you've been bitten by the musky bug, go get outfitted so that you can get them in with a little less stress. I'm not sure if this is true, but I've heard that once the fish is stressed and developes orange tinged fins it likely won't survive. Lets all do what we can to keep those fish in the drink. Releasing it is the first step, getting equipment to release it even earlier is a great second step.
  17. "Once you go black...you never go back" Turns out this is NOT a fishing rule, but I do like me black baits.
  18. I'm very disappointed in wikipedia...using the word "anecdote" in the definition of "anecdotal" don't help much
  19. nice report. I'll give you $5 for the GPS coordinates of the 7 lb'er
  20. Take em home for the kids to play with. Then when the minnows "get tired", daddy puts them in the garden so they can have a "dirt nap"
  21. Wow, what a report! And how the heck do you remember all that stuff anyways! If I catch more than 3 fish in a day i couldn't tell you how many i caught
  22. Don't wanna burst your bubble snady, but I actually had the same thing happen, except mine was about 1/4 the size of your brute. I've got a photo too, but this is before the age of digital...and me too lazy to scan etc
  23. Any Ramones fans?? Only the biggest one right here. Got their modified presidential seal tattooed on me many years ago. Used to go to their concerts every summer and even follow them around a bit from show to show in southern ontario. Scored a whole bunch of guitar picks from them, and even a vicks coughdrop from joey! His death was a kick in the chops...and then DeeDee's...and then Johnny's...time has not treated da brutha's well! Nonetheless, before I sink into a depression...nice job on I wanna be sedated...but when played live it should be 3 times faster and sound a bit like a locomotive! Follow that up with a "one two free fo" and shoot right into the next song. What the world needs is a Ramones tribute band for us who still crave that punk rock wall of sound...on the other hand, those Parry Sound locals would have had no clue what they were listening to! Good job broadening their horizons!
  24. Launched the boat this evening in Kempenfelt Bay to give my 3 year old a little tour around. Saw something swimming through the water...muskrat? beaver? Nope, on closer inspection it was about a 35 inch pike swimming around with its head above water taking in the sights! Watched it do that for a good 30 seconds, and we got within about 15 feet of it before it finally submarined with a big swirl. We had a great time, with him driving the boat quite erratically. After an hour and a half it was time to go, but the launch to get out of the water at dusk was freakin ridiculous! I now know why there have been so many posts about launch etiquette etc.! This was my first (and hopefully last) experience with a busy boat launch. Although it was great to get out with the youngster, that launch at the end of the night was something else. Luckily, I was able to sneak in and out in under a minute when some yahoo plugged up the launch docks with his boat, while his vehicle and trailer were nowhere in sight!
  25. :D not sure Silvio if you had the first quote in mind when you made yours, but thats pretty funny
