I've got a couple of sledges, the price you are thinking of 18.99 sounds about right. They tend to be less money than similar baits (ie suicks, bobbies). For Niagara you will want deep diving baits (hookers/jr, depthraiders etc) or baits you can drag (bulldawgs, twin fins etc)

hahaha golfisher, I'll be keeping my eyes open for you. If you want double headers of 5 pounders (one smallie, one bucketmouth) they are there for the taking. Couple of 2-3 pounders come around regularly too. I have too much fun watching them on the camera to even try and catch them (who am I kidding...I catch them a couple times a summer)

hmmm, maybe I misread what you wrote, but that first picture of someone holding a fish is definitely a pike (not that someone from muskies canada wouldn't know that). Either way, that's an entertaining report and lots of great fish

I'd love to have a pet bass in a tank! Closest I've come is creating a bass habitat under my dock (chucked in some big rocks). Love to watch the bass swim around on my aquaview...hate to watch someone cast at my dock to catch one of my boys!

don't make it a Legend ! (see other post).

I AM SHOCKED!!!! Only one sheephead?? (at least its a big grunter at that) nice photos

I have never fished there, but there are some surprisingly big pike, not just hammerhandles. A friend of mine caught a pike there this year that I'm guessing had to be close to 40 inches(he was in a boat). I assume the norm is lots of hammerhandles though, a fish like his would be quite rare...especially now that he ate it (just kidding, it was released)

All boats today that we saw were in South Bay along the west shore particularly to try and get some relief from the wind. Conditions were really tough, including whitecaps and nearly turning my boat into a submarine on the way back to the launch. We were targetting musky, and did manage to tangle with a nice fish for approx 20 seconds before it "quick -released". Due to the cold front, we slowed things right down and fished big jigs/reaper tails on the bottom and through the weeds. Also got a nice pickerel (2 pounder) and a smallie (1.5 lb'er) incidentally, released them both. Musky was hooked in 18 feet of water just out from the weeds in South Bay, pickerel and smallie were in 12 fow right in the weeds in south Bay. Didn't see anyone else catch anything, so it was a slow day out there. I'll post a report on Balsam in a few days when my buddy sends the photos.

my guess is because they are the ones who will do it for free! If I had a poor repair job I'd bring it back to the same place to get them to fix their mistake at no cost...good luck getting them to pay another marina for fixing their mistake. Now if it was under warranty that's a whole different story, I'd be getting someone else to work on the boat asap.

ain't that the truth! I just came back from there and man was it rough out there! Fishing was so-so today although I did see some nice [pickerel on the aquview.

might as well give it a shot...and in so doing you will catch other species...pike, lots and lots of pike

Thank you for this information. After a screw-up, do people not understand the concept of "making things right"? I live in Barrie, and was seriously considering a Legend for my next boat purchase (within a year or 2). They are now off the list. Mistakes can happen, its how you deal with the mistakes that proves your worth. You my friend, were hosed. They are taking their customers for granted.

Thanks for all the replies. Tonight I'll try and clean it up as Gerritt suggested. If its still going like gangbusters tomorrow on Balsam, I'll drop it off in Orillia on my way home. For those worried about having a powerdrive, I've been very pleased with it. Although its only a 40lb thrust, you feel like you could waterski behind the dang thing. When buying it, I thought it would be underpowered but the salesman told me it would be fine for a 14' boat. He was right (I actually bought it from Tromnbley's in Orillia). This is the first problem I've had, and the motor is over 5 years old

thanks Gerritt, I had taken it apart earlier to see if there was anything obvious (loose wire) but didn't notice anything. I'll give the wd40 a try

I have a Minn Kota powerdrive bow mount trolling motor with foot controls. There is a sliding mechanism, that lets you select a speed from 1-10. For some reason mine seems to be running at full speed, ignoring the setting that is on the foot control. Nearly launched me into the lake today when I first turned it on. Any thoughts on what may be causing this and how to fix it?

I can't believe that worked ...you do know I'm kidding, right?

that's a pig! I never fish for the bugle-nosed trout so I couldn't help you on the weight

first sign of addiction are posts that don't show up...you are in need of help my friend

Great report, especially enjoyed the launch story. When I get too old to fish, somebody please park my sorry arse at a launch (preferably a shallow, gravel launch) so I can watch the fun one last time. ...oh ya nearly forgot...mmmmmm twinkies

can't help you on the salmon but nice looking musky! Looks like something took a chunk out of its tail at some point in its past. One helpful recommendation though: Take the hooks out before posing for the photo - if that fish thrashes around you've got trebles coming at you with a lot of speed, and if the unhooking job takes longer than expected, you can always opt to not take a photo to get the fish back in the water as soon as possible. Either way, nice fish and good luck with the salmon

that's the point...everyone wants a deal, but nobody is going to pay top dollar for a motor that's over 30 years old (unless its a collectors item). $100 is low risk potentially high reward - no brainer. Now find the guy a buyer who would pay significantly more, not so easy.
-
bingo...just keep it, may come in handy some day. I wouldn't think anyone would give more than 100-200 bucks for a motor that's older than half the members of this board.

he ain't kidding. Landing and releasing a musky is not as easy as lipping a bass or grabbing a pike "by the shoulders" to get them in the boat...then once they are in the boat that's another problem all on its own! Get yourself some good equipment for catching (heavy line/leaders) landing (cradle? big net? fearless friend?) and then some tools to properly unhook the fish (ie to cut BIG hooks out)
