  1. very unusual post. nelly was very apologetic (perhaps too apologetic) after causing all the fuss about the musky head before...now bring the subject up again? I believe he said something like "I will never do this again" although I'm far too lazy to look it up. Oh well, I guess seem people are just trouble makers, love to get under other people's skin.
  2. I don't know what kind of fish are to be found there, but spinnerbaits are quite snag resistant due to the positioning of the hook. Great through the weeds as well. Catch lots of species of fish to boot.
  3. you guys are truly sick (funny, but sick). I know stuff LIKE this has happened though. Where I played beach volleyball in Toronto we found boards buried in the courts with exposed nails pointing upwards. It was fortunate they were discovered before somebody got seriously hurt.
  4. some real nice muskies! Just say you were after muskies the whole time. 2 muskies in 9 days ain't great, but I've seen worse. Now 1 pickerel in 9 days...that sounds bad.
  5. ...always has been and always will be. Unfortunately (for those who get troubled by such concepts as eternity), God did not feel it was necessary for humans to be given the understanding of how He can be eternal. At this point in time those who believe God is eternal have to chalk it up to faith. The bible tells us God is without beginning or end, so we believe it. In time (after death) it will all be made clear...so your child will have to wait for the real answer! Concepts that are outside of human understanding can not only trouble children, but also their parents. As we age and actually take the time to study the bible, some people will realize why we are on earth, and as "created beings" its not our "right" to know why everything happens. Basically, we are told what we need to know. Those whose eyes aren't opened will remain very confused and will try to develop theories of how/why we are here.
  6. I prefer super-topraiders when its time to "send a message". Cast said topraider directly over the other persons head, but land it 50 feet PAST the culprit. A 200 foot cast is a piece of cake with a bait like that. Using a steady retrieve, said topraider will eventually enter the other persons boat with hooks and "appendages" flailing wildly. With any luck it will grab onto rods, tackle boxes, or a molson export and return these items to you. They are now yours...assuming you have a faster boat.
  7. as usual, dOUG is on something...I mean onto something. Some people are so clueless this guy probably thought he did nothing wrong. Why they wouldn't go behind you (water you've already fished) is beyond me.
  8. no way am I going to watch a video on bat porn (have we sunk that low...ya we probably have). Either way, bizarre story and real nice bass.
  9. stop the boat and drop a jig on its head
  10. balsam was 65 on saturday
  11. I've got a couple of sledges, the price you are thinking of 18.99 sounds about right. They tend to be less money than similar baits (ie suicks, bobbies). For Niagara you will want deep diving baits (hookers/jr, depthraiders etc) or baits you can drag (bulldawgs, twin fins etc)
  12. hahaha golfisher, I'll be keeping my eyes open for you. If you want double headers of 5 pounders (one smallie, one bucketmouth) they are there for the taking. Couple of 2-3 pounders come around regularly too. I have too much fun watching them on the camera to even try and catch them (who am I kidding...I catch them a couple times a summer)
  13. hmmm, maybe I misread what you wrote, but that first picture of someone holding a fish is definitely a pike (not that someone from muskies canada wouldn't know that). Either way, that's an entertaining report and lots of great fish
  14. I'd love to have a pet bass in a tank! Closest I've come is creating a bass habitat under my dock (chucked in some big rocks). Love to watch the bass swim around on my aquaview...hate to watch someone cast at my dock to catch one of my boys!
  15. don't make it a Legend ! (see other post).
  16. I AM SHOCKED!!!! Only one sheephead?? (at least its a big grunter at that) nice photos
  17. I have never fished there, but there are some surprisingly big pike, not just hammerhandles. A friend of mine caught a pike there this year that I'm guessing had to be close to 40 inches(he was in a boat). I assume the norm is lots of hammerhandles though, a fish like his would be quite rare...especially now that he ate it (just kidding, it was released)
  18. All boats today that we saw were in South Bay along the west shore particularly to try and get some relief from the wind. Conditions were really tough, including whitecaps and nearly turning my boat into a submarine on the way back to the launch. We were targetting musky, and did manage to tangle with a nice fish for approx 20 seconds before it "quick -released". Due to the cold front, we slowed things right down and fished big jigs/reaper tails on the bottom and through the weeds. Also got a nice pickerel (2 pounder) and a smallie (1.5 lb'er) incidentally, released them both. Musky was hooked in 18 feet of water just out from the weeds in South Bay, pickerel and smallie were in 12 fow right in the weeds in south Bay. Didn't see anyone else catch anything, so it was a slow day out there. I'll post a report on Balsam in a few days when my buddy sends the photos.
  19. my guess is because they are the ones who will do it for free! If I had a poor repair job I'd bring it back to the same place to get them to fix their mistake at no cost...good luck getting them to pay another marina for fixing their mistake. Now if it was under warranty that's a whole different story, I'd be getting someone else to work on the boat asap.
  20. ain't that the truth! I just came back from there and man was it rough out there! Fishing was so-so today although I did see some nice [pickerel on the aquview.
  21. might as well give it a shot...and in so doing you will catch other species...pike, lots and lots of pike
  22. Thank you for this information. After a screw-up, do people not understand the concept of "making things right"? I live in Barrie, and was seriously considering a Legend for my next boat purchase (within a year or 2). They are now off the list. Mistakes can happen, its how you deal with the mistakes that proves your worth. You my friend, were hosed. They are taking their customers for granted.
  23. Thanks for all the replies. Tonight I'll try and clean it up as Gerritt suggested. If its still going like gangbusters tomorrow on Balsam, I'll drop it off in Orillia on my way home. For those worried about having a powerdrive, I've been very pleased with it. Although its only a 40lb thrust, you feel like you could waterski behind the dang thing. When buying it, I thought it would be underpowered but the salesman told me it would be fine for a 14' boat. He was right (I actually bought it from Tromnbley's in Orillia). This is the first problem I've had, and the motor is over 5 years old
  24. thanks Gerritt, I had taken it apart earlier to see if there was anything obvious (loose wire) but didn't notice anything. I'll give the wd40 a try
