  1. I've fished L. Muskoka a few times, but more in the area of Gravenhurst bay. There is obvious structure in that area that produced for us, but when we got out into the main lake we felt it was a LOT of dead water (or at least water we didn't know how to fish).
  2. sounds like a great trip...but more details on the 2 musky you tied into are needed (worm harness or did they nab your pickerel on the way in?)
  3. I'm with ohiofisherman. Musky fishing is a heck of a lot more than chucking bucktails on a medium action spinning rod with 20 lb test. Although this may hook you a fish, and even a big one, said fish will probably not survive (if you're even able to land it), especially in the warm water months. Go to a fishing store with dad's credit card and get someone knowledgeable to outfit you with proper rod, reel, line, leaders, terminal tackle, big-arse net, big mouth spreader, long nose pliers, bolt cutters etc etc. May cost you (read dad) a few hundred bucks but worth it. To me, its a sickening feeling to catch a beauty fish and then doubt whether it will survive the release, especially if the fish could have been brought in/released sooner had proper equipment been used. When you're ready for the fish of a lifetime, then go for it because the big'uns are definitely in Nipissing. If you're not ready, you may end up with a big stinky dead musky in the bottom of your boat...but before he breaths his last, he'll thrash around (probably stick a few trebles in you first!) and trash everything in your boat.
  4. Nice looking bass. Check out the last picture..buddy in the background is either giving you the bird or he's mining for gold nuggets, already at a depth of a knuckle and a half
  5. thanks fishnfiend, maybe I stick with Head Lake unless I'm being faced with the big skunkeroo, then I'll jump ship and catch me a hammerhandle at Young
  6. sorry, I can give you some info on Head Lake near Norland but pretty sure you're talking a different lake
  7. thanks for the info, I'll post a report if I get out there. Might start at Head Lake in am, then shif over afterwards
  8. thanks bud, 85 views and only one reply I was beginning to wonder if it did exist. Anyone else who knows anythng about this lake or where to launch it would be appreciated
  9. I don't know simcoe (ignore the fact I live 5 minutes from it) but I understand smallies can be found at Thorah island. Can your boat get you there?
  10. dude, while you're there score me some of those cookies. Is there anything better for the munchies?
  11. what the frick did that have to do with potato salad??? Skip the goofy song and get right into the wacky contortion stuff I say
  12. Hello all, hoping to get the boat wet for the whopping third time this season and I'm thinking of trying uncharted waters (for me at least). I'm thinking of fishing Young Lake (not too far from Norland or Head Lake) this Saturday. I've fished Head Lake a few times, but when I drive home I'm pretty sure I pass a place called "Split Rail" campground that is supposedly on Young Lake. When I google it, or even do a search on this site, I can't find squat about Young Lake or this Split Rail place. Can anyone tell me anything about Young Lake (species of fish to expect, weedy ? lots of numbers but little size etc) or anything about Split Rail (ie can I launch my boat there). Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  13. the Moody Blues are still alive??? Never in my wildest dreams would I have guessed that (and yes, the play on words is intentional)
  14. just kidding all, although it was nice of some of you to try and explain it though!
  15. there are fish in kempenfelt bay??? geez I have to get out there someday
  16. i don't get it
  17. Too funny. Happy birthday
  18. Awesome report! Nice that you were able to get all the comforts of home to the back lake too (the motor is a nice start!)
  19. Moosonee is nice this time of year...now if only I knew where Moosonee is
  20. One of these days I'll have to get me one of those dang black fury's (used em all the time as a kid actually...so that's one old lure we're talking about). All the best on the east coast Clive
  21. Never heard of this place, but is there a smallmouth out there that wouldn't fall for a tube jig under the right circumstances?
  22. funny that this topic comes up now. I saw an outboard on Sunday that I'm sure some guy had painted himself. Also had some red "mercury" stickers on it. The colour and font wasn't something that I've seen on a merc before. Unfortunately, I don't know the answers to your questions as to where they got the paint/stickers. On the positive side, the older and dumpier your motor looks, the less likely someone is going to "pinch" it.
  23. Sweet Georgia Brown son...those are some serious bass.
  24. I had some old humminbird, no clue anymore what the model was. Bought it used off some guy, cost me a fortune. carrie it in a milkcrate and ran it off a car battery!
  25. Great report and photos, thanks for sharing. That boat owner probably ain't too happy with the joyride his son went on! And the keys on the bumper!!! Go buy a lotto ticket cause you've got some serious horseshoes up there
