  1. test the alarm 5 times in a row now and see if it works. If it does, maybe you have the same problem as many people: alarm goes off and you turn it off so quickly it doesn't even register...within seconds you are sawing logs again! I knew a guy who always had alarms that "didn't work". Now he puts his alarm on the other side of the room, requiring him to get up to turn it off, and guess what, his alarm works all the time now! The other thing that I've done is set the alarm for 5 p.m. rather than 5 a.m....man that sucks, especially when fishing was on the agenda.
  2. thanks for the heads up, next time I'm bringing some toast along
  3. Line???? Don't bother. If its a fight yer lookin for, just find yerself a catfish under an undercut bank and wrassle 'em out. That's the way men (and apparently some women) fish down south
  4. I had to hunker down on an "island" at Head Lake a couple of weeks back when the wind turned from bad to severe. Things can change in a hurry out there. Got pelted as I crouched on a piece of rock. Definitely learned a lesson that day. Hope everyone is ok at your trailers/cottages.
  5. I actually think it is the opposite. If the fish were not legal size, you'd have to throw it back and let it wash up on the beach with all those big stinky carp.
  6. nice report! Bass like that 5 minutes from my house but for some reason I feel the need to drive hours to fish. If only there were musky in Little Lake!!!
  7. sounds like a great trip! Too bad about the big musky. Reminds me of that episode of the Simpson's where Homer cries as he eats his pet lobster Mr Pinchy. Tastes good but you feel bad doing it!
  8. I would do that in someone else's boat!
  9. looks like me pretty much everytime I go out...having a small boat can be very intense
  10. nice report. Not too many pike can resist a big honkin sucker dangled in their face. For artificials, something that has the colour/profile of a smallie would be a good place to start. Don't underestimate crayfish either for river pike
  11. does mudpuppy count? If yes then my answer is one (its been a tough year)
  12. that is certainly not what I wrote...but as far as censorship goes, that's pretty funny (also sad, because a jacka$s is just the name of an animal so why bleep it out...unless of course its the reference to a movie title that lead to its bleeping...now I'm so confused I feel like a jackdonkey for starting this)
  13. Ok, so its not the Holland River, but what's in a name? Go wet a line and see what you find (oh yes, and tell us if you figure out the name).!
  14. no doubt about it, thats one of the whale sharks from the movie jackdonkey where they fill the guys swim trunks with shrimp and then fire him in front of some feeding whale sharks
  15. good stuff! just don't call in sick the first day to go fishing. apparently that is frowned upon.
  16. very exciting when something like that happens (unless of course you needed that fish to survive...then it sucks)
  17. MEEEEEOOOOWWWWWW! nice cat . What would heavy tackle be if you've got 20lb powerpro on the light?
  18. in the immortal words of JJ... "DY-NO-MITE" That sounds like a great day! Once again, I'm shocked by how much about the day you remember. I need to go fishing with you so that someone can tell me how I did at the end of the day!
  19. some beauty colours on that lure
  20. I'd probably end up missing the whole event, I always seem to miss when something goes on around here.
  21. its still august...don't get me thinking of such frighteniing topics
  22. great report and photos!
  23. gotta love that. I put my 34 year old brother onto his first musky yesterday...but that doesn't really compare. Daughter and dad must be so proud!
  24. Wow, nicely done! Sounds like a successful summer. I agree with pigeontroller though. Now that you've been bitten by the musky bug, go get outfitted so that you can get them in with a little less stress. I'm not sure if this is true, but I've heard that once the fish is stressed and developes orange tinged fins it likely won't survive. Lets all do what we can to keep those fish in the drink. Releasing it is the first step, getting equipment to release it even earlier is a great second step.
