  1. Only pike I'll keep are the one's that will win me back the crayola cup this summer at lakair. I'm sure they'll taste pretty sweet
  2. you can try simcoe from shore
  3. Last summer I know the owner had some heart issues. A few times I went there and they were not open, it was kind of hit and miss. I had heard that he was recovering well so to hear he may have died (see above) is a bit of a surprise. It has been for sale for quite some time
  4. as long as you're in water less than 50 feet deep!
  5. that was great Wayne. By the way... the answer is me...I have the most posts. We are talking most non-fishing posts aren't we?
  6. I expect to be there. Always in the market for some new gear Might pick up a net big enough to land a football player too. If anyone has a ginormous net they want to get rid of shoot me a pm and maybe I'll buy yours used at the show.
  7. some fine bugle-nosed bass you got there
  8. haha so you know the reputation of our fine city I see :whistling:
  9. dora, barbie, cinderella...anything pink I've bought them all for my kids. The scary thing is I only have boys! Just kidding, in addition to the odd "girl coloured" rod we've had spongebob, scooby doo, spiderman. Bought one that didn't have a drag sytem and that was a big mistake if you hook anything bigger than a perch. For the most part I find they last only about a year, but I guess thats what you get for 13.99. We've got very dumb bass in our lake so its not uncommon to see my little guys wrassling with a nice bass on their scooby doo rods. Great fun to see a 4 year old, fishing a 2 foot rod, with a 4 pound smallie going nuts on the end of the line.
  10. if it sounds to be good to be true it is.
  11. this is not actually a word, don't mean to pick on you, but the misuse of "regardless" is just one of my pet peeves. The one that bugs me even more is when CNN pronounces the word "negotiate" as "negociate"....like fingers on the blackboard when I hear that one. There, I've had my rant now please carry on with the interesting debate.
  12. if they are on, please let me know. We have some young ones here this week-end and I'd like to get them out for an hour (or as long as they're interested)
  13. Fishing is an expensive hobby. If you guys think an extra couple of bucks is going to deter someone from getting a license you're nuts. If you think someone is going to travel to a different state (or province) to fish over license fees you're even more nuts. Would you really spend hundreds of dollars (or possibly thousands) on travel because one state has a license that is 20 dollars less? New York State is convenient for millions of people in southern Ontario, quite a few of whom like to fish...and for the majority of them money is not an issue. Gas from Toronto and back will cost you as much as the license. Sorry to tell you but it will be business as usual and any petition will fall on deaf ears...especially because all those signing the petition can't vote!
  14. pm sent
  15. any suckers in the creeks yet Brian?
  16. if you plan on waterskiing with it then go with the 55. If not, 40 is plenty for a 14 footer and less costly
  17. so that's where all our ice went. Hope its not as bad as it looks
  18. biggest musky I have ever caught was my second musky. I was fishing Nipissing for the first time in my first boat...a 12 foot tinny with a 1967 6hp evinrude. Being only my second musky ever (first was a 34 incher that came 15 minutes earlier) I had problems holding it. Decided to sit with it across my lap while my buddy took the photo. The fish actually swam right off my lap and was gone...no photo, no measurement. To make matters worse, my friend tells me at that moment "that was a fish of a lifetime, you may never beat it" and to this day I never have.
  19. kill a few hundred thousand and give them to the homeless...or anyone who supports David Miller (probably the same people anywho)
  20. hmmm...right now people only pay us 5% GST when arranging for a funeral...sounds like Dalton is trying to weasel his way in. If its 8% more on top that can be a significant amount
  21. I was on a "little lake" near Parry Sound last week-end and there was about 18 inches of ice still. As far as Little Lake near Barrie it is still frozen but I did not see anyone on it this past week-end. I would not chance it
  22. if they can survive the slimy puddle they live in at the Mandarin they can survive a Canadian winter!
  23. that pike looks like he's been dining on those steelhead...a bit undernourished
  24. Anyone know if "Muskey's Lodge" or the place ion Mactier sell minnows? Both advertise live bait but that likely means worms during the summer months
  25. ya, I was pretty surprised by the price. Expecting a good day I would have bought more minnows but they didn't take credit card. Luckily I did have a good day on the water. Had some frozen chubs (4 inch) with me to so I split my time between the shiners (2.5 inch) and dead bait on bottom. Ended up going 7 for 13 in only 3 hours so the fish were really on. Live bait and dead bait were pretty much equally effective. All pike were typical 2 pound snotrockets.
