  1. When I used to do most of my fishing alone, it wasn't a big deal to have a rod laying here and there. Now that I typically take someone with me, pretty much all of our fishing is for musky, and I have a few more rods than I used to, having a messy boat just isn't cutting it. I have a side console boat, 16 feet in length, with a casting platform up front. I was thinking of making rod holders out of pvc pipe and then mounting those on the front of the console, or on the floor just in front of the console. Any thoughts or suggestions to help me clean up my act?
  2. what a tool. He should have been thankful his son wasn't being punished more, instead he's out there trying (and apparently succeeding) in hooking him up with as minor. Comment tu dit dumbass en francais?
  3. When they started using the boga grip I stopped watching (that was years ago, not sure if they still use that silly thing). It was so obvious they were only doing it because of the sponsorship dollars.
  4. I'm with cudz on this one, sounds like you were wading and a fish came tearing down stream and drilled you right in the gonads, figured she was after the one eyed trouser trout.
  5. Looks great! Since you live in the area, do you happen to know of a free launch above Big Chute (ie between big chute and swift rapids)? I have launched by the liquor store at severn falls in the past, just wondered if there's a way to save a few bucks
  6. ...and if they don't work, don't panic, might just be the fuses!
  7. It was a good show Brian. Nice to see a group of the guys (and Ruth) again too. I dropped some good coin on a Compre and a few lures...but unfortunately Slowpoke dropped some bad coin getting dinged for a seatbelt infraction just out from the restaurant! Sorry about your luck Bud!
  8. I spoke to Kevin last week to confirm my attendance. I'll be coming up thursday a.m. and staying until I receive the "crayola cup" for pike mastery. I asked Kevin about dock space which likely will be tight. He figured they's likely yank some of their rentals out of the water to free up space as most of the people that week-end own boats.
  9. use a sledge in sucker flavor or a 10 inch suick. I catch pesky walleye each time I am there
  10. Sorry I can't help you. Would bus be an option from up there?
  11. good for you and I'm sure they knew what it was worth, just wanted it gone! I know someone who did a 300,000 renovation to a cottage one summer, then levelled it the next year and built new! to some people money is no object and a 3000 canoe is less than a drop in the glass
  12. man what a fish. I will admit I was hoping the hooks would get him when that fish started to thrash on the boat floor...man I'm one sick dude. I would definitely release it, he didn't, oh well
  13. funny timing of this thread. I was just talking to a guy today who has a cottage on Deep Bay. He was asking me where he might target a musky on Sparrow. The way he described his own shoreline I told him to start fishing off his own dock! Anyone ever target/catch muskies in Sparrow anymore? Its been years since I fished there and we only were after pike/bass in those days.
  14. agree with remo...pretty much pike and smallies in the summer. Some of the pike are a good size
  15. yes its a tough time of year. I hope to get the boat in the water soon for a test run, but then it likely won't get into the water again before mid june, or maybe even Lakair at the end of June.
  16. ouch, I was cringing every time that fish thrashed.
  17. here's wishing your grandmother a speedy recovery, it sounds like she will be missed while she is recovering. As far as the 2 helpers remaining anonymous I would do the same. They were just doing what you would expect of anyone who would come upon a person in distress. The truly sad part is that there are many who would not do what you would expect! I guess that's why in today's society we are surprised when someone actually does something nice. Good for them for helping, and I agree with their decision to remain anonymous.
  18. hahaha...sorry Lew, she won't even make it for my father-in-law so I don't like our odds
  19. while you guys are out trying to catch bait I will be at the musky odyssey
  20. sorry boys, I'm heading to Grimsby the night before and staying with the in-laws, otherwise I'd be joining you. Anyone wants to stay at my in-laws let me know!
  21. I guess I can never anchor in 8 feet of water because I only have a 50 foot rope!
  22. none of the above, although I do know those lakes. We are on "Windfall"
  23. Our lake is about 1 km from Horseshoe and it is still ice covered. Having said that, we are always one of the last (if not the last) to open up
  24. Thanks guys, see you there hopefully
  25. Where is the Odyssey being held in St. Catharines? Also, are we meeting up for breakfast somewhere?
