  1. we head down there in a few days and will be staying for a week. I figured the deep sea fishing would be for reef-type fish. The thing i like about the ocean side is the variety of suspended fish...kingfish, wahoo, dolphin, sailfish, barracuda even the dreaded bonita...that fight like stink and swim a hundred miles an hour. I'm less interested in the grouper/snapper bottom-fishing experience. As far as freshwater, on the ocean side down by West Palm I love those little canals that seem to be everywhere and loaded with bass...and the golf course ponds are usually great if you can find a place that will let you fish.
  2. throw a 25 on that and you'll be skipping across the water pretty good! I used to have my niece waterski behind a johnboat with a 9.9! Doesn't take much to get those babies on plane
  3. heading to a part of Florida I've never been to before. I'm quite familiar with canal/pond fishing for bass and deep sea fishing around West Palm Beach, but no clue about the Gulf side. Are there loads of canals/ponds like you would find on the ocean side? Is there party boat style deep sea fishing (ie drift fishing)and is it worth it? Any help appreciated
  4. ...and I'm also on dial-up...the real reason I'm not going to look
  5. I'm not even going to look. Anytime someone says "make sure your sound is up" or "stare at this point on your screen" you know it ain't gonna be good
  6. and a rare victory. After the dino-egg they laid in NYC I'm shocked they won
  7. when my brother dropped out of engineering science at U of T in 2nd year to go to York to become a teacher I though he was truly insane. Now he laughs at me every time I see him. He truly was smart and I was the idiot. Although he makes a little less money than I do, I bet he doesn't work half as much in the course of the year when you factor in summers, Christmas, March Break, "development" days and an 8 am to 4 p.m. work day that involves 2 recesses and a lunch break! I don't even want to talk about his ridiculous sick days allowed. I'll work a 10 hour day, sometimes 6 days a week and often don't stop longer than 5 minutes for lunch. He spends the entire summer with his kids, lots of weeks at the cottage, and several weeks in the winter in Florida. I got no pension, no dental, gotta work holidays...make a good wage but no time to enjoy it. Man do I wish I could turn back time and do it all over.
  8. What a machine! Very nice Lew...may you get 5 good years out of it and then sell it to me for a song
  9. maybe I'll finally get to use my cleats! I ice fish kempenfelt once a year...the charity tournament thats coming up this saturday. What a date to choose too...valentines day...like fishing doesn't get you in enough trouble by itself, they have to stick it on valentines day
  10. you have fewer posts than anyone who has replied to this thread, so......no prize for you
  11. if you drop one of your classes and take the refund you could afford a little fishing boat and have time to use it(not that I would recommend such an action )
  12. There are a few clear lakes out there, probably one of the most common lake names in ontario I'd imagine. Good retro photos though
  13. it all depends on when you need the money. My in-laws keep telling me to pull out now and cut my losses. I tell them they are nuts, I haven't lost a thing until I cash out. My plan is not to touch that money for at least 10 years so I'm leaving it right where it is. In fact, just invested more money into it! Great time to buy if you are able and don't need the money for at least a few years. If you can hold on for 5 years I would say leave it.
  14. I'm with Kerry. Get out ice fishing...no equipment required other than a nice minnow, hook, line and maybe an axe to reopen someone's previously drilled hole (if you haven't bought an auger yet). Head to l St. John over by the airport and you'll have no problem getting your pike. Once you are bored silly by catching pike, move on up to musky next fall.
  15. well said! There is lots of good information here. Although he made my life extremely difficult, I harbour no ill will and would never deliberately spread misinformation in order to "get back at someone". I'm not about getting even. What I would like to be able to do (in a world without lawsuits) is just be able to tell the truth! For certain roles he would be ideal, for others you would be nuts to hire him...but even telling this, what does it benefit me? I will stick with confirming dates of employment and leave it at that. Thank you all for your advice.
  16. oh man wouldn't that be nice...never gonna happen, but nice. I've never actually met anyone like this guy before. He guy drove female employees to tears on more than one occasion, and a number of the male staff refused to work with him. For the most part, pure evil. We regularly debated about firing him, but we feared losing the positives he brought to the table. If he had a job where he worked on his own, I'm sure he'd be a good employee. Make him work with others and he'll take you down from the inside...unfortunately in today's world you can't tell people either his strengths or his weaknesses!
  17. took the words out of my mouth nanook. I had heard that a statement along these lines is an acceptable thing to say.
  18. some were, because we had to sit him down every couple of months to discuss his attitude. We actually had a warning letter drafted because we were to the point of firing him, but then he beat us to it and quit. The letter was never presented to him.
  19. We had a staff member leave half a year ago because he could not tolerate management or his co-workers. Many staff refused to work with him. Basically, he was quite a capable employee, but an absolute cancer amongst the staff. His ability was the only reason he was not fired. In hindsight, he should have been fired because of how poorly he treated his peers. Morale is much improved since his departure. Now his potential new employer is contacting us for a "reference" for him. I am sure he did not list us as his reference as he "burned his bridge" when he left. Can you be honest and say that the individual has definite strengths/abilities but can not work in a team environment? Or will honesty only land you in hot water?
  20. So you wouldn't trust these reviews Kirk? I would say the evidence is overwhelming and I'm one of the biggest skeptics out there. One or two negatives, with differing opinions from those who have had a positive experience may lead to doubt, but I'm not seeing too many supporting this operation. I don't know any hut operators out there, nor do I have anything to gain by providing a review, but I do know what I was told by people who had the snowfari "experience" and it wasn't good.
  21. good information here. Any "safety sally's" here probably don't want to hear this, but I was having the same problem with my Eskimo auger...solved it by just keeping her going full blast blades-a-spinning as I walked from spot to spot drilling holes. The screwdriver thing seems like a better idea!
  22. right on! the leafs and raptors can't do it, hopefully your brother can continue to rack up some w's
  23. missing a super topraider, a big honking bulldawg and some jerkbaits that look like theycould eat your supershadraps
  24. in one generation this nation has strayed so far from the Christian principles it was founded on, thats whats truly sad. This is just one more example of the squeeky wheel syndrome.
  25. after reading these comments i called a friend of mine who went to nipissing about 3 weeks ago. He had complained of a very negative experience when he got back, so I called him last night and guess what...SNOWFARI strikes again! To be honest I had to laugh, this guy who runs it must be an absolute clown. My friend told me the hut was nice enough but was placed where there were no fish (they did catch a mudpuppy or two). They were there for 3 days and apparently this jerk never showed up once! They had no bait and had to use the same dirty dishwater for 3 days to wash there dishes. On the last day as they were preparing to leave the guy came back and told them he would take them out to where the fish were but it would cost them $50!! Needless to say they said no, and all agreed they would never pay this inconsiderate boob another cent.
