  1. here's wishing your grandmother a speedy recovery, it sounds like she will be missed while she is recovering. As far as the 2 helpers remaining anonymous I would do the same. They were just doing what you would expect of anyone who would come upon a person in distress. The truly sad part is that there are many who would not do what you would expect! I guess that's why in today's society we are surprised when someone actually does something nice. Good for them for helping, and I agree with their decision to remain anonymous.
  2. hahaha...sorry Lew, she won't even make it for my father-in-law so I don't like our odds
  3. while you guys are out trying to catch bait I will be at the musky odyssey
  4. sorry boys, I'm heading to Grimsby the night before and staying with the in-laws, otherwise I'd be joining you. Anyone wants to stay at my in-laws let me know!
  5. I guess I can never anchor in 8 feet of water because I only have a 50 foot rope!
  6. none of the above, although I do know those lakes. We are on "Windfall"
  7. Our lake is about 1 km from Horseshoe and it is still ice covered. Having said that, we are always one of the last (if not the last) to open up
  8. Thanks guys, see you there hopefully
  9. Where is the Odyssey being held in St. Catharines? Also, are we meeting up for breakfast somewhere?
  10. Only pike I'll keep are the one's that will win me back the crayola cup this summer at lakair. I'm sure they'll taste pretty sweet
  11. you can try simcoe from shore
  12. Last summer I know the owner had some heart issues. A few times I went there and they were not open, it was kind of hit and miss. I had heard that he was recovering well so to hear he may have died (see above) is a bit of a surprise. It has been for sale for quite some time
  13. as long as you're in water less than 50 feet deep!
  14. that was great Wayne. By the way... the answer is me...I have the most posts. We are talking most non-fishing posts aren't we?
  15. I expect to be there. Always in the market for some new gear Might pick up a net big enough to land a football player too. If anyone has a ginormous net they want to get rid of shoot me a pm and maybe I'll buy yours used at the show.
  16. some fine bugle-nosed bass you got there
  17. haha so you know the reputation of our fine city I see :whistling:
  18. dora, barbie, cinderella...anything pink I've bought them all for my kids. The scary thing is I only have boys! Just kidding, in addition to the odd "girl coloured" rod we've had spongebob, scooby doo, spiderman. Bought one that didn't have a drag sytem and that was a big mistake if you hook anything bigger than a perch. For the most part I find they last only about a year, but I guess thats what you get for 13.99. We've got very dumb bass in our lake so its not uncommon to see my little guys wrassling with a nice bass on their scooby doo rods. Great fun to see a 4 year old, fishing a 2 foot rod, with a 4 pound smallie going nuts on the end of the line.
  19. if it sounds to be good to be true it is.
  20. this is not actually a word, don't mean to pick on you, but the misuse of "regardless" is just one of my pet peeves. The one that bugs me even more is when CNN pronounces the word "negotiate" as "negociate"....like fingers on the blackboard when I hear that one. There, I've had my rant now please carry on with the interesting debate.
  21. if they are on, please let me know. We have some young ones here this week-end and I'd like to get them out for an hour (or as long as they're interested)
  22. Fishing is an expensive hobby. If you guys think an extra couple of bucks is going to deter someone from getting a license you're nuts. If you think someone is going to travel to a different state (or province) to fish over license fees you're even more nuts. Would you really spend hundreds of dollars (or possibly thousands) on travel because one state has a license that is 20 dollars less? New York State is convenient for millions of people in southern Ontario, quite a few of whom like to fish...and for the majority of them money is not an issue. Gas from Toronto and back will cost you as much as the license. Sorry to tell you but it will be business as usual and any petition will fall on deaf ears...especially because all those signing the petition can't vote!
  23. pm sent
  24. any suckers in the creeks yet Brian?
  25. if you plan on waterskiing with it then go with the 55. If not, 40 is plenty for a 14 footer and less costly
