  1. so that's where all our ice went. Hope its not as bad as it looks
  2. biggest musky I have ever caught was my second musky. I was fishing Nipissing for the first time in my first boat...a 12 foot tinny with a 1967 6hp evinrude. Being only my second musky ever (first was a 34 incher that came 15 minutes earlier) I had problems holding it. Decided to sit with it across my lap while my buddy took the photo. The fish actually swam right off my lap and was gone...no photo, no measurement. To make matters worse, my friend tells me at that moment "that was a fish of a lifetime, you may never beat it" and to this day I never have.
  3. kill a few hundred thousand and give them to the homeless...or anyone who supports David Miller (probably the same people anywho)
  4. hmmm...right now people only pay us 5% GST when arranging for a funeral...sounds like Dalton is trying to weasel his way in. If its 8% more on top that can be a significant amount
  5. I was on a "little lake" near Parry Sound last week-end and there was about 18 inches of ice still. As far as Little Lake near Barrie it is still frozen but I did not see anyone on it this past week-end. I would not chance it
  6. if they can survive the slimy puddle they live in at the Mandarin they can survive a Canadian winter!
  7. that pike looks like he's been dining on those steelhead...a bit undernourished
  8. Anyone know if "Muskey's Lodge" or the place ion Mactier sell minnows? Both advertise live bait but that likely means worms during the summer months
  9. ya, I was pretty surprised by the price. Expecting a good day I would have bought more minnows but they didn't take credit card. Luckily I did have a good day on the water. Had some frozen chubs (4 inch) with me to so I split my time between the shiners (2.5 inch) and dead bait on bottom. Ended up going 7 for 13 in only 3 hours so the fish were really on. Live bait and dead bait were pretty much equally effective. All pike were typical 2 pound snotrockets.
  10. Was looking for some emerald shiners yesterday for some hammerhandle pike action. Because I know a dozen at Simcoe Bait and Tackle is 5.00 I didn't worry that I only had 8.00 with me. When I stopped there they had no minnows. No problem, I know there's a place in Fesserton on the way north called Huronia Bait and Tackle. Unfortunately my 8.00 wouldn't get me a dozen there. 6 crappy little emerald shiners cost me 6.45! Broke my bank but at least I still got to fish a bit.
  11. have had one problem, would only go full speed (nearly learned that the hard way). 100.00 and it was all fixed.
  12. Water nice and warm in the gulf? Sure you weren't in a swimming pool? We were down there 3 weeks ago when those football players went missing 50 miles out and the water was about 63 degrees. Guess they've had some good weather since we were there! Enjoy it!
  13. when I was kid I used to catch them by hand at the humber river dam they were in there so thick. They would get stacked up so bad you could kneel on the breakwall, reach down into the water, feel around and pull one out. I remember my body getting his mitts on a carp once...what a shock that was, couldn't land it though but got it up to the surface
  14. can't help you out but welcome to the board and good luck
  15. manatee...they may look peacefully but man can they test your drag
  16. are we describing Pamela Anderson? If we are, I agree.
  17. wow, 32 inch waist you're skin over bones! good for you but they don't make men's pants any smaller so stop there
  18. I recognize the Mrs., but you look kind of funny Brian
  19. tarpon would have to be up there for me, and a 55 inch musky would be nice
  20. Thanks for the info, I'm hoping to get there
  21. double cowgirls, train wrecks...when will the madness end? I'm going to troll the 36 inch rapala my buddy got me as a gag gift from BPS
  22. I've got a power drive, which I use almost exclusively on "cruise control". I find the "gas" pedal a bit jerky. Be careful with those things, last year mine broke and was stuck on full speed! The first time it happened when I turned it on nearly fired me right out of the boat.
  23. does it have a realistic shaft length? I remember looking at an inexpensive unit at BPS last summer thinking it wouldn't be good other than for a raft or other flat flotation device. Not sure if its the one you're talking about though
  24. thanks for all the info, hopefully I'll be able to put some of it to use!
  25. right on snag, those are some great looking fish. nicely done
