there is 100% confirmed pike in rice lake as is a few of the other kawartha lakes it just takes years to verify as I went through this a few years ago in a lake in haliburton,trying to tell the MNR there was pike in a certain system,and they didn't believe me till I actually caught more and took pics,then they tell me they want a scale sample....they finally caught one in a net and then confirmed they are there so it is a process to get a species confirmed in a body of water...

lake has anywhere from 8-12 inches in spots now

that's a very tough choice for sure.....some serious boats there...I have been in 2 of those and what you have to decide is whats best for you and what you want

out in the country where I live in kawartha lakes we have lots of roadside farm stands and what not,and almiost all are on an honour system of paying and I talk to the farmers and people and they say most times there is more money than less as people who cant make change of what they have end up just putting more in instead of less....

I got my under armor base 2.0 at marks work warehouse and I wear it for fishing and snowmobiling at -30 and have for years ....they work and are great...yes don't go by size chart you have to try them on mike...I also have a thin marino wool 2 piece but I like the under armor better well worth the money at -45 winchill on my sled doing 80 miles per hour....

I have caught 1 walleye on a topwater and it was about 3 lbs it hit a top water popper in the Ottawa river

the PULL is there everyday of the year and it will be the number 1 thing in my life till I die........

there is lots better options nearby if you can fish them....if you are stuck to fishing head lake well then becareful,as others have said..... used to be an aw3esome lake years ago but it gets heavy heavy pressure

like dave524 says I remember the massive coho runs in the early 80's and for years they were awesome,and some did get very big as well as we won a few tourneys with coho...and they love to go airborne as well...great fighting fish and taste way better than a dirty old boot,and would be interesting to hear what they will do with this ...anyone have info on new York state as well as Michigan on stocking numbers??
