Call your local MNR office and get the details or take a picture of the sign as well !!! Some cottagers at small lakes up north have even put up "boat launch closed" signs just to deter people even tho it's not closed ..... They will also drop logs across it to make it I useable !!!! On purpose ... So find out for sure ... The same type of cottagers that will tell at you for fishing in front of their dock !!!! And saying they own the water & the fish !!!!! -
Wow 5&8 yrs I'm like Shane if I get 4yrs from my batteries I'm doing well !!! Yes I maintain them have a smart charger as well but I use mine heavy with the trolling motor running it pretty much all summer long !!!! I have 2 29 series 12v marine deep cycle batteries run in parallel and they get put through the wringer for sure so I know it's just a fact if life that every 3-4 yrs I have to get new batteries !!!! But I'm never in a problem of battery failure so it's piece if mind too !!! And I usually always have 1 or 2 for spares if I am in a pinch !!!!

I see so many near misses every year living on the kawarthas as well as fishing them it's unreal what I have seen ......and boats are bigger & faster than ever !!! We have way too many offshore 100mph boats on the kawarthas there will be a big bad accident sooner or later Glad there was no fatalities on simcoe !!!!

Typical !!!! Only the clowns in charge could screw it up this bad to not see the economic benifits of this !!!! Unreal ..... If all the govt put their heads together they might make a rock pile !!!!

. Yes for sure I got a decent eye last year on a 3/8oz clown color terminator spinnerbait about 2 weeks before bass opener last year I was slow rolling a weed flat for walleyes and a guy at the launch thought I was musky fishing !!! Lol he seen my bait on my rod & asked how was the musky fishing I told him I was walleye fishing .... Also the smaller rocket shad spinnerbaits will take eyes too !!!! Not many use them ... Even a road runner jig with a power minnow over a weed flat & let the small spinnerbait fall into to pockets will nail a few !!!!!

Going to be chasing both green & brown fish this weekend !!! The usual baits, senkos spinnerbaits and dropshots for the brown tanks !!! Going to fish 2 different lakes this weekend in FMZ17 unless the fishing is awesome on the first lake probly do it both days if it is !!! Then next weekend will be FMZ15 opener so will be in Haliburton for that....

My 3 keeper walleyes were in the milfoil yesterday in about 12ft on the outside of the weededge !!!! I find that the walleyes will use the cabbage if they have to but will avoid it just concentrate on the milfoil instead

Yes it sure sucks watching a beautiful lake trout or walleye that's a slot fish sink to the bottom knowing it will not survive !! There is a few things you can do to at least assist the fish seeing as you never the size of them till you get them up to the surface if you think the fish is not a big one try and let him come up a lot alower from the depths more so for the rigger guys or dipsey guys many walleye guys in quinte including the charter boats try not to target deep down fish for that reason unless you are fishing for keepers that's ok but if I am fishing a smaller lake and know that the trout are not huge and that you will catch a lot smaller a ones than big ones I will pinch barbs to lesson the chance of a fish having a treble hook through their eye or all wrapped up it's for sure a hard thing to do release a trout or walleye knowing it's not going to survive but the rules are the rules !!!! Also just the shock of a fish being being brought up quickly from the depth the rapid temp change can shock & kill them I have seen walleyes with their eyes almost explode from that as well I don't usually target them deeper than 30-35 feet and if I do I I play them out a little differently letting their swim bladders adjust a bit on the way up to the surface ... But yes sometimes you get the small trout or walleyes and they are too small to pull the releases out and you don't know they are there and you drag them along without even knowing (shakers) some live some don't

Heading to Brule Lake Plevna On, anyone familiar?
fishindevil replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
I have fished the lake for lake trout but it was a lot earlier in the season !!! Very clear water deep and cold typical northern small trout lake with a well defined thermocline it was around 25ft down in August it will be deeper for sure 30-40ft down are you jigging ? Using riggers or leadcore ???? -
Yes for sure brian !!! I am going to wear mine a lot more than I did before that's for sure it can happen so fast .... He & his dog were very lucky as the outcome was great but so many times it's not. Many years ago when I was working on the charter boat I was on the bridge driving the boat and the captain was at the back down below on the deck and he was setting a downrigger up and I was up top watching the graph and had the music on and thought I heard a scream I turned my head to look back and the captain was in the lake 50ft behind the boat he had leaned over with wet shoes on and went over the back of the boat !!! This was a 30ft enterprise we had 4 rigger lines out so by the time I got the boat turned around and set up to get him he was a few hundred feet behind !!!!! Thankfully I was there or he was a goner for sure !!!! Happy ending but could have been tragic for sure we laughed about it but we knew it was serious and he was scared pretty bad !!! But for many years on Lake Ontario by myself I wear mine as trolling at 2.5-3.0mph by the time you fell out it would be way to late to even attempt to get back to the boat !!!! Scary I have a new auto inflatable mustang now top if the line and it's no bother to wear it

OPP logo Change text size for the story Print Report an error ORO-MEDONTE TWP. - A man floating in his life-jacket for three hours off Oro Beach Wednesday made it to shore safely, along with his dog, after being knocked out of his fishing boat by rough weather. Barrie OPP say the man had been fishing in an aluminum boat, with his dog, when weather conditions changed on Lake Simcoe. He was floating off-shore just after noon before being spotted by local residents. They called 911 and helped him to shore. The dog also made it to shore. The man was taken to hospital and treated for hypothermia. Police say wearing a proper life-jacket helped the man survive. OPP are reminding boaters to always check the weather before heading out.
