  1. Hi Joey !!! . Sorry to hear about ralphie and I hope things get better for him ... Well my grandparents owned a fishing lodge while I grew up so I was fishing before I could ride a bike ...lol and learned everything from my grandfather how to fish how to operate a boat and everything there is to know about the outdoors spent every summer there and it was amazing swimming fishing you name it I still think about it everyday how lucky I was he had 5-10 rental boats and as I got older it was my job to make sure they were all filled up with gas & cleaned and ready to go for the next days customers !!! Most of the lodge guests were American and some were so regular I called them aunt & uncles even tho I was not related to them thay how close the people were back then by the time I was 13 I was acually guiding and taking lodge guests fishing long before GPS & fish finders and learned how to find fish & catch them .... It was awesome I also was the official fish cleaner ... And still to this day I can clean fish pretty darn fast !!!!! I got payed 25 cents a fish to clean them plus tips !!!! Lol ... I could clean walleye so fast it was unreal ... Ahhhh the memories my grandfather also won many big fish contests I have a photo album from the 60"s & 70"s with huge muskies that were caught and photographed some in the 35-40lb class yes from pigeon lake !!!! A 25lb Muskie was pretty common I still have pics of I believe it was a 35lb Muskie all of which were always caught on worm harnesses same as all the walleyes .... I also remember as a kid my gramps taking out the game wardens to net muskies and walleyes for tagging and scale samples .... Also used to rescue boats who would hit stinsons shoal and saved a man from drowning when I was about 12yrs old .... My gramp knew everything there was to know about fishing & wildlife it was just unreal how they knew all of this at the time we would camp out on Boyd island as kids for days and fish and make rafts .... Swim at the dam and collect fishing lures and baits too .... And my grandfather and a man named Paul from Ohio were to this day I was told by many back in the day that they pretty much invented the worm harness ahhhhhhh ..... Memories cottage life
  2. It's been a gong show down there for 30yrs but not as bad as it is now ..... More & more people all the time and most are NOT fishermen they are just snaggers and citiots there for the slaughter ..... The pics I see on social media are just insane plus all the video clips and the garbage everywhere no real fisherman would do any of that crap !!!!!! It's embarrassing that they would call themselves fishermen !!!!!! But again it's the real fishermen that now suffer because of the idiocy of others !!!!as some of us fish 100-200 days a year some of these idiots come out for a day or 2 a year to participate in the slaughter with no regard for anything so of course any reprocutions that are imposed the fishermen that will respect the laws and conservation will suffer and maybe loose a fishing spot I'm suprised they have not done something about it yet as it gets worse every year .....
  3. Nice haul mike !!! Did you hit the dropshot game for brown fish like I said ?? Great week on the water man ..... Well done
  4. I believe I have the first 4 bibles they came out with but one is damaged from being wet and not dried out properly ...they have been a great help too and def helped put fish in the boat if you followed the proper line diameter and speed the dive curves were pretty dead on too !!! Many years of using them for big water trolling .... Nice to know they are getting very valuable $$$$$
  5. My boat & sled are my happiness !!!!!! Can't imagine life without them !!!! ??cheers
  6. For over 100 yrs Montreal has been dumping sewage straight into the river it's only been 20yrs that they have not done it purposely so the news said
  7. And the cottagers & home owners on the kawarthas don't help the situation as they feed the ducks and geese all summer long close up their cottage go home for the season and the ducks are almost tame and swim along the shoreline looking for their regular food from the people that feed them ..... Hunters have said that many times those ducks end up being easy pickings .....
  8. All the years of being a fisherman I have had lots of run ins and meet & greets with duck hunters and most have always been good !!! I have had BB"s bounce off me before and my boat !!!! Had one guy sighting in his rifle trying to hit a javex bottle out on the lake and had ricochets going by me 1/4 mile away !!!!!! I has a very loud confrontation with him and his buddy at his cottage a few years ago !!!!! But I know as a fisherman this time of year it's duck season !!! And there is gonna be hunters around !!!! They were blasting away this past weekend while I was fishing and we made sure both myself and the hunters know we were there !!! Most are pretty good about it !!! I purposely didn't fish the shoreline in that area as I knew they were there !!!! So it's a respect thing and they do their thing I do mine !! But yes some are careless and don't think it through for sure !!! Sturgeon lake has sounded like a war zone for a few weeks now ... And they will be all gone soon and back to normal when I used to fish the mouth of wilmot creek many years ago in the fall we had pellets raining down on us one day from the corn field next to the creek ..... But ya they should not be shooting towards houses regardless ....
  9. i do have the RV package and yes my package allows for putting a tarailer on a flatbed and towing it to safety, and yes the plus package does not cover that cheers
  10. I always carry the basics and trailer a lot every season probly 10,000km anyways and I have the wet hubs on my trailer and always check with my hand at gas stops or whatever I have a clear cap that I can see the oil level in my hubs and change my trailer tires every 3 summers and check all bolts for tightness a few times every season and so far have never had a massive failure of any kind. But if I do I have CAA package that includes towing my trailer(s) to safety as I have a sled trailer too so it does give me some piece of mind to know my rigs will not be left in the middle of nowhere for along time !!!!
  11. For back lake rainbows I used to use the tiny flatfish in black silver "skunk" pattern we called it and they were only like 1.5-2.5 inches long the smallest ones I think I remember and the trout would go crazy over them .... They out fished almost everything and I swear made them strike as they wobble and entice them and same type scenario I would troll them and drift with them also the Panther Martin with a piece of worm on it did the trick many times but trout really like those small wobbly flatfish/kik fish give em a try
  12. Or just troll a double bladed worm harness with a big fat dew worm in it on a bottom bouncer & catch walleyes & a Muskie and if it's fire tiger color ya a Muskie for sure !!! Lol
  13. It can and does end up going the wrong way as well but you can use deadly force if needed
  14. The fall feedbag is ramping up for many species and it's a stretch of stable weather it's never a bad time to go fishing anyways !!! Lol ... Just go and figure them out at least now in the area you mentioned the boat traffic will be less and less as fall rolls on just fish for different species at different times of day to increase your odds !!!
  15. Like I said do not give up and wait for the bait to come in should be in the next few weeks !! And fish it right into the late fall/ early winter ..... With what I said in the above post Even cast a xrap ghost color jerkbait and a few various cranks both floating and medium divers
  16. The fb page is ganaraska fishway ya can't make this stuff up !!! Lol ....
  17. They now put up signs saying "no cleaning fish in the toilet" on their fb page as people were cleaning fish and throwing the guts into the outhouses !!!! What a gong show
  18. 2006 1625 lund classic tiller with a 2011 yamaha 50hp four stroke,loaded with gas and gear solo 34mph,with 2 loaded about 32mph on gps !!!!
  19. Don't give up keep fishing the channel gap way into the fall and when the baitfish come in at night time toss a floating crank or jerkbait !!! Anything can & will happen at that time !!! Big pike a big bow a brown ect. Big fish will not be far behind .... Fish it right into early November you will see the bait at night ......
  20. yes they do bill ... As do the scrappy 1.5lb smallies seem to make your dropshot rig in knots that you could not tie even if you tried for hours !!!! Lol .... Had a few hammer handles do it to me this summer as well !!!!! Lol ....
